Joanne "Jo" Coburn (born 12 November 1968) is a British journalist and political correspondent for BBC News, previously with special responsibility for BBC Breakfast. She is a former BBC political correspondent for London, who covered the 2000 London Mayoral election. She is an occasional relief presenter on the BBC News Channel and a regular presenter of Daily Politics alongside Andrew Neil and relief presenter on the Sunday Politics. She has presented on BBC Radio 4 in the past and can sometimes be heard on the weekend current affairs programme The World This Weekend.
Coburn was educated at the North London Collegiate School, an independent school for girls in north west London, followed by the University of Manchester, where she studied History and German, and the University of Oxford, where she studied Middle Eastern politics.
Coburn worked for local radio stations in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, which included Mix 96 Aylesbury, Fox FM Oxford and Star FM in Slough.
Nigel Paul Farage (/ˈfærɑːʒ/; born 3 April 1964) is a British politician and former commodity broker. He is the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), having held the position since November 2010, and previously from September 2006 to November 2009. Since 1999 he has been a Member of the European Parliament for South East England. He co-chairs the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (formerly "Europe of Freedom and Democracy") group. He has been noted for his sometimes controversial speeches in the European Parliament and has strongly criticised the euro.
Farage was a founding member of UKIP, having left the Conservative Party in 1992 after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty. After unsuccessfully campaigning in European and Westminster parliamentary elections for UKIP since 1994, he was elected MEP for South East England in the 1999 European Parliament Election. He was subsequently re-elected in 2004, 2009 and, most recently, at the 2014 European Parliament Election.

Stewart Hosie, a safe pair of hands, effortlessly answers Jo Coburn's questions - simplistic, formulaic, repetitive questions that have already been answered and answered again and again - and ones that no negotiator will ever answer before a negotiation is concluded. I was fascinated by the apparently motionless female figure in the Bute House doorway. Was it human? Was it an optical illusion? A cardboard cutout - or an uncannily disciplined staff member, with a body language control equivalent to a human statue?
London Mayoral Candidate George Galloway interviewed by Jo Coburn on BBC Daily Politics. #Galloway4Mayor
Former Respect MP George Galloway objects to questions put to him over his role in the EU referendum. The London mayoral candidate said the questioning by Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics was indicative of a "childish discourse" in the EU referendum campaign, focusing on personalities rather than policies. Querying when the interview would move on to substantial differences of opinion between the camps, he said: "Every question you have asked has been about me." Jo Coburn repeatedly interrupts one interviewee but is almost deferential to the other - with only one gentle interruption at 11m mark. What's the difference? Well, one is Jeremy Corbyn's Shadow Justice Minister, Richard Burgon MP, an elected representative of the people - and the other is Michael Forsyth, an unelected Tory Lord, elevated to peerage for services to Maggie Thatcher. Jo Coburn didn't curtsy to the Wee Laird of Drumlean, but she might as well have done so. Her interview content and questions covered the subject expertly and relevantly - I have no quarrel with her professionalism on that count - but she offered Forsyth time and space to answer, and acted more like straight woman to the comic turn. The difference was extremely marked.
