People ask Israelis questions. I go out and ask random people to answer. Meero from Canada asks "Why do Israelis need a Jewish state? and CJ asks 'How does Israel's designation as a "Jewish State" (as opposed to a secular state) directly effect your daily life?".
Video about the creation of the Jewish State of Israel. The song during the first four minutes is from Psalms 95 and 120. I made less effort when editing the rest of the video, since I initially intended to make a video of just four minutes or so to go with the song. But then I wanted to add some more information about the collaboration between the Nazi's and Arab "Palestinian" leadership and about the connection between Nazi ideology and Islamic anti-Semitism in general. I think the video as a whole turned out quite alright, though. If I had the resources, I'd make a long documentary or something, because there are just so many things that need to get some light shed upon. But, for now, I can only do so much. I hope you appreciate the video. Am Yisrael Chai.

A Jewish state refers to the debate that is in progress on the nature and character of Israel. Modern Israel came into existence on 14 May 1948 as the homeland for the Jewish people. However, the nature of the new state as a Jewish state was undefined and is the subject of continuing debate, and is the cause of some conflict in the Arab-Israel conflict.
Since the establishment of the state, Israel has passed many laws which reflect on the Jewish identification and values of the vast majority of its citizens. However, the secular versus religious debate in Israel in particular has focused debate on the Jewish nature of the state. Another aspect of the debate is the status of minorities in Israel, most notably the Israeli Arab population.
The first usage of the term "Jewish state" was by Theodor Herzl who in late 1895 wrote Der Judenstaat (The Jewish State) giving birth to the modern Zionist movement. There was no reference to a Jewish state by the Zionist Organisation that he founded, preferring at first to use the description "Jewish homeland" or similar terms. The 1942 Biltmore Program of the Zionist Organization explicitly called "that Palestine be established as a Jewish Commonwealth." In 1946, the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry, also known as the Grady-Morrison Committee, noted that the demand for a Jewish State went beyond the obligations of either the Balfour Declaration or the Mandate, and had been expressly disowned by the Chairman of the Jewish Agency as recently as 1932.

The Jewish State of Israel and the truth about the Middle East Conflict
Video about the creation of the Jewish State of Israel. The song during the first four minutes is from Psalms 95 and 120. I made less effort when editing the rest of the video, since I initially intended to make a video of just four minutes or so to go with the song. But then I wanted to add some more information about the collaboration between the Nazi's and Arab "Palestinian" leadership and about the connection between Nazi ideology and Islamic anti-Semitism in general. I think the video as a whole turned out quite alright, though. If I had the resources, I'd make a long documentary or something, because there are just so many things that need to get some light shed upon. But, for now, I can only do so much. A proposed law that defines Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people is stirring fierce debate in the country, and among politicians.
Rights groups have condemned the draft legislation as 'racist' and say it discriminates against Israel's minorities, which make up 20 per cent of the population.
The Cabinet vote, which comes at a time of heightened tensions with Palestinians, was passed by a majority of 14 votes to 6.
The wording of the bill has yet to be finalised, and requires approval by the Knesset.
It is intended to become part of Israel's basic laws, and would recognise Israel's Jewish character, institutionalise Jewish law as an inspiration for legislation, and drop Arabic as a second official language.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the bill is necessary because people were challenging the notion of Israel as a Jewish homeland.
Addressing the cabinet, Netanyahu said: "The state of Israel is the nation state of the Jewish People. It has equal individual rights for every citizen and we insist on this.
"But only the Jewish People have national rights: A flag, anthem, the right of every Jew to immigrate to the country, and other national symbols. These are granted only to our people, in its one and only state."
So are the edges being blurred in Israel between politics and religion, the state and democracy?

Article in the Jerusalem Post carried the above headline on Thursday, reporting that "The Catholic clergy spelled out their position in a statement of the 'Commission for justice and peace' of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries, a panel of archbishops and other senior clerics of the various Catholic rites in Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Cyprus."
The statement asserted that the current situation for Palestinians was "inhuman" and said that settlements, the 'siege of Gaza,' the 'siege of the rest of Palestine,' military checkpoints, house demolitions 'and the arbitrary behaviour of Israeli soldiers humiliating the Palestinians' have led to the last five months of Palestinian terror attacks against Israeli civilians and security personnel.
That Catholic statement is as prejudiced and as perverted as it is possible to get. It reflects the hatred in the policy of the Vatican towards Israel and particularly towards the Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria (the so-called West Bank). I have spent the last few days visiting the area and talking with several of the settlers themselves - settlers who recognise that their presence upon the mountains of Israel is a fulfilment of what is written in the prophets. As I visited several of these settlements and outposts on Thursday of this week a terror attack was carried out in one of the supermarkets - an unprovoked act of violence against the Jewish settlers by young Palestinians. The headline in the Jerusalem Post today (Friday) read: "Teenage terrorists murder young father in Binyamin supermarket."
It is this sort of terrorism that is now being encouraged by the Catholic leaders and one cannot help referencing the "perpetual hatred" spoken of in Ezekiel 35:5.
ha'aretz terror attackIt does not seem to occur to the Palestinian Arabs, or to the Catholic clergy, that there would be no need for security checkpoint-points or other measures if there were no violence, killings or terror attacks. The fact is that the Vatican, the Palestinians, and the world just do not want an Israeli state to exist because it demonstrates clearly that the Bible is true. Who can ignore the teaching of the Scriptures? Who can resist the power of prophecy fulfilling - for example:
"I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel" (Ezekiel 34:13-14).
The world tries to tell us that the Bible is a myth, that it is untrue - a fable - and yet its words are coming true day by day. What though all the world resist Him, God will realise His plan, and those that hate the Bible and hate the things of Zion will not be able to divert God from His purpose. The Jewish people will continue to survive, as they have always survived despite the Romans, despite the Catholic Crusades, despite the Inquisition, despite the Nazi Holocaust and despite the Vatican inspired Palestinian terror campaign. 'Am Yisrael chai' (the people of Israel live).

It happened about 30 years ago at a meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, which brought together leaders of American Jewish organizations, sometimes to hear from a visiting dignitary, in this case Eban, Israel’s eloquent voice for many years ... And it is in the area for which Israel was created, as a Jewish state, embodying and enhancing Jewish values that I see this failure....
