King Baudouin of the Belgians died in Motril of heart failure during a visit to their summer residence, "Villa Astrida" in 1993.
Although its origin still remains hidden, it was a Phoenician enclave. It already existed in Roman times, although we cannot say it was one of cities named Murgis, mentioned in Baetica by Pliny the Elder and Ptolemy.
When the Christians conquered Motril, there were 2000 inhabitants for agriculture, fishing and the production of silk and sugar. The villa occupied 3.5 km (2.2 mi). Outside the city there are two suburb: Al-Majon suburb and al-Couruch suburb and a neighborhood called Jandara.
Costa Tropical (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈkosta tɾopiˈkal], "Tropical Coast") is a comarca in southern Spain, corresponding to the Mediterranean coastline of the province of Granada, Andalusia. It is also but less frequently called the Costa de Granada or Costa Granadina. It is crossed by the N-340 coastal highway that runs southwest-northeast along Spain’s Mediterranean coast, to the border with France. Within the last 4 years the A7 has been extended from Nerja in the Malaga province to the Taramay district to the east of Almuñécar. Construction is ongoing to link the A7 motorway to the A44 motorway which heads north from Motril on the coast to the city of Granada. This connection should be complete before April 2012 according to the Spanish Ministry of Development. Originally the whole section of A7 motorway up to Carchuna was due to be completed by early 2011 but the motorway has been besieged by delays due to technical difficulties and the Torrecuevas bridge collapse on 7 November 2005, when six workers died.

Motril is a small agricultural and industrial port located south of Granada on the Mediterranean Coast about halfway between the larger ports of Malaga and Almeria. Cruise ships use the port to disembark passengers for tours of Granada and Alhambra. The only other tour normally offered from this port is to the white-washed villages of Las Alpujarras in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I can smell it on the pavement
It's about to rain
And you can feed me all the pills you want
But you cannot stop the pain
Am I forcing my hand to write this down
Today is the day I finally realized
That I can't rely on anyone except myself
So you think you understand me
You're so anxious to evaluate
Maybe I'm well
Maybe I'm fine
Maybe I'm in love
Am I forcing my hand to write this down
Today is the day I finally realized
That I can't rely on anyone except myself
Don't just stand there, it's about to rain
You were never one to worry.
Maybe my dreams are just more interesting
Than my reality
All this time
See it through my eyes
Am I forcing my hand
