Learn how to make a Revolver worthy of being called a James Bond cocktail using Bourbon Whiskey, Coffee Liqueur, Orange Bitters and a flamed Orange Peel. The series, Cocktails and Pussy Galore, shows you how to drink like 007 using the Ian Fleming books (not the movies) as the source, which takes you beyond the typical James Bond Martini.
In the books James Bond drank a lot of coffee, cold brew, black coffee, espresso, Irish coffee (https://youtu.be/VcGBRy6fn6M), whatever he could get his hands on. His love for coffee was only rivaled by a few things, among them, was whiks(e)y. He drank all sorts of whisk(e)y: Irish, Canadian Rye, Tennessee whiskey, but in particular Scotch and Bourbon.
On more than one occasion he combined his two favorite beverages. He had a little nip of Bourbon in his morning coffee in The Living Daylights. And he also made up a little pick me up juice for an assassination mission in For Your Eyes Only. He combined 3 parts whiskey to 1 part coffee in a thermos and drank it throughout his mission. He also used it to in an attempt to sterilize a bullet wound in the arm of his accidental assassination accomplice, Judy Havelock, after she was shot.
Unfortunately, Bond’s mixture of room-temperature, undiluted 3:1 Bourbon and coffee is not the greatest drink. Fortunately—and coincidentally—Bond’s recipe was improved 43-years later by Bay-Area bartender and founder of Prizefighter in Emeryville, Jon Santer, when he came up with the Revolver.
The drink was conceived to be made with non-archaic ingredients so that it could be easily replicated by other bars and home-bartenders. It was originally made with Bulleit Bourbon (hence the name) and Tia Maria Coffee Liqueur. I love this drink with my favorite coffee liqueur, St. George NOLA Coffee Liqueur. It's made from coffee and chicory cold brewed in 95% alcohol then mixed in a 4:1 ratio with regular coffee and chicory cold brew (in other words with water) then lightly sweetened. There is sweetness in this coffee liqueur, but it is one of the least sweet coffee liqueurs out there. So, the drink is intended to be a little sweeter.
The original Bourbon used was Bulleit, which is a high-rye Bourbon. Bourbons are made with mostly corn, some rye and a little malted barley. The ones with a mash bill over 18% rye, are considered high-rye, which are often characterized with more of a spicy character than Bourbons with lower rye or no rye (wheated Bourbons). If you only have a wheated Bourbon at home, you might want to consider subbing in a Rye for this drink.
One of James Bond’s favorite Bourbons was Old Granddad. In Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die, he practically drank his weight in Old Granddad. So, that’s the Bourbon I like to use for Bond drinks. Luckily, for this drink, Old Granddad is also a high-rye Bourbon. In fact it’s a very similar mash bill. Both with approximately 27%-28% rye. Not to mention, it’s a really solid Bourbon and makes a great Revolver.
The Revolver is a modern and delicious riff on a classic Manhattan (https://youtu.be/pu3lWPjaLJI)—well, a Manhattan made with Bourbon anyway. And it’s similar to a Black Watch (https://youtu.be/q9Vqc0T1dOg). But it makes great use of that bottle of coffee liqueur you bought to make White Russians (https://youtu.be/FsBmI5v5xbs) while hosting a little home Lebowskifest. It also, by kismet, happened to be a more palatable version of an original James Bond concoction. Enjoy!

2 oz Bourbon
0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur
1 dash Orange Bitters
flamed Orange Twist
Stir with ice. Strain into chilled Nick & Nora glass. Garnish with a flamed orange twist.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again changed his mind on the tribunal to investigate corruption allegation against Supreme Court judge justice Philip Tunoi. The president who initially declined to appoint a tribunal but reversed his decision a day later and appointed a tribunal chaired by judges and magistrates vetting board chairman Sharad Rao, has now reversed his decision on the chairmanship of the tribunal. Sharad Rao has been replaced by retired justice Jonathan Bowen Havelock a member of the justice Tunoi tribunal.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi and formed a seven-member tribunal led by Sharad Rao to probe his conduct over bribery allegations.
The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu through his official twitter handle.
Esipisu said: "After further consultation, President Uhuru Kenyatta suspends Justice Philip K. Tonui as judge of the Supreme Court."
"President Kenyatta appoints seven-member Tribunal, chaired by Sharad Rao to investigate conduct of Justice Tonui."
Other members of the tribunal are: Justice Roselyn Korir, Justice (Rtd.) Jonathan Havelock, Judith Guserwa, James Kaberere Gachoka, Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein and George Munji Wakukha.

Bond girl
A Bond girl is a character (or the actress portraying a character) who is a love interest and/or female sidekick of James Bond in a novel, film, or video game. Bond girls occasionally have names that are double entendres or puns, such as Pussy Galore, Plenty O'Toole, Xenia Onatopp, or Holly Goodhead, and are considered "ubiquitous symbol[s] of glamour and sophistication."
There is no set rule on what kind of person a Bond girl will be or what role she will play. She may be an ally or an enemy of Bond, pivotal to the mission or simply eye candy. There are female characters such as Judi Dench's M and Camille Montes, who are not romantic interests of Bond, and hence not strictly Bond girls. However, it has been argued that M's pivotal role in the plot of Skyfall qualifies her as a Bond girl or Bond woman.
In novels
Nearly all of Ian Fleming's Bond novels and short stories include one or more female characters who can be said to qualify as Bond girls, most of whom have been adapted for the screen. While Fleming's Bond girls have some individual traits (at least in their literary forms), they also have a great many characteristics in common. One of these is age: The typical Bond girl is in her early to mid-twenties, roughly ten years younger than Bond, who seems to be perennially in his mid-thirties. Examples include Solitaire (25),Tatiana Romanova (24),Vivienne "Viv" Michel (23), and Kissy Suzuki (23). The youngest Bond girl (though she and Bond do not sleep together) may be Gala Brand; she is named for the cruiser in which her father is serving at the time of her birth. Bond's youngest sexual partner in the books is Mariko Ichiban, an 18-year-old masseuse in You Only Live Twice. The eldest Bond girls are Pussy Galore, whom Bond speculates is in her early 30s, and 29-year-old Domino Vitali.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi and formed a seven-member tribunal led by Sharad Rao to probe his conduct over bribery allegations. His love for coffee was only rivaled by a few things, among them, was whiks(e)y. He drank all sorts of whisk(e)y: Irish, Canadian Rye, Tennessee whiskey, but in particular Scotch and Bourbon.
On more than one occasion he combined his two favorite beverages. He had a little nip of Bourbon in his morning coffee in The Living Daylights. And he also made up a little pick me up juice for an assassination mission in For Your Eyes Only. He combined 3 parts whiskey to 1 part coffee in a thermos and drank it throughout his mission. He also used it to in an attempt to sterilize a bullet wound in the arm of his accidental assassination accomplice, Judy Havelock, after she was shot.
Unfortunately, Bond’s mixture of room-temperature, undiluted 3:1 Bourbon and coffee is not the greatest drink. Fortunately—and coincidentally—Bond’s recipe was improved 43-years later by Bay-Area bartender and founder of Prizefighter in Emeryville, Jon Santer, when he came up with the Revolver.
The drink was conceived to be made with non-archaic ingredients so that it could be easily replicated by other bars and home-bartenders. It was originally made with Bulleit Bourbon (hence the name) and Tia Maria Coffee Liqueur. I love this drink with my favorite coffee liqueur, St. George NOLA Coffee Liqueur. It's made from coffee and chicory cold brewed in 95% alcohol then mixed in a 4:1 ratio with regular coffee and chicory cold brew (in other words with water) then lightly sweetened. There is sweetness in this coffee liqueur, but it is one of the least sweet coffee liqueurs out there. So, the drink is intended to be a little sweeter.
The original Bourbon used was Bulleit, which is a high-rye Bourbon. Bourbons are made with mostly corn, some rye and a little malted barley. The ones with a mash bill over 18% rye, are considered high-rye, which are often characterized with more of a spicy character than Bourbons with lower rye or no rye (wheated Bourbons). If you only have a wheated Bourbon at home, you might want to consider subbing in a Rye for this drink.
One of James Bond’s favorite Bourbons was Old Granddad. In Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die, he practically drank his weight in Old Granddad. So, that’s the Bourbon I like to use for Bond drinks. Luckily, for this drink, Old Granddad is also a high-rye Bourbon. In fact it’s a very similar mash bill. Both with approximately 27%-28% rye. Not to mention, it’s a really solid Bourbon and makes a great Revolver.
The Revolver is a modern and delicious riff on a classic Manhattan (https://youtu.be/pu3lWPjaLJI)—well, a Manhattan made with Bourbon anyway. And it’s similar to a Black Watch (https://youtu.be/q9Vqc0T1dOg). But it makes great use of that bottle of coffee liqueur you bought to make White Russians (https://youtu.be/FsBmI5v5xbs) while hosting a little home Lebowskifest. It also, by kismet, happened to be a more palatable version of an original James Bond concoction. Enjoy!

0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur
1 dash Orange Bitters

President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again changed his mind on the tribunal to investigate corruption allegation against Supreme Court judge justice Philip Tunoi. The president who initially declined to appoint a tribunal but reversed his decision a day later and appointed a tribunal chaired by judges and magistrates vetting board chairman Sharad Rao, has now reversed his decision on the chairmanship of the tribunal. Sharad Rao has been replaced by retired justice Jonathan Bowen Havelock a member of the justice Tunoi tribunal.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi and formed a seven-member tribunal led by Sharad Rao to probe his conduct over bribery allegations.
The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu through his official twitter handle.
Esipisu said: "After further consultation, President Uhuru Kenyatta suspends Justice Philip K. Tonui as judge of the Supreme Court."
"President Kenyatta appoints seven-member Tribunal, chaired by Sharad Rao to investigate conduct of Justice Tonui."
Other members of the tribunal are: Justice Roselyn Korir, Justice (Rtd.) Jonathan Havelock, Judith Guserwa, James Kaberere Gachoka, Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein and George Munji Wakukha.

A hot air balloon carrying at least 16 people caught on fire and crashed in Central Texas on Saturday, and there did not appear to be any survivors, authorities said.
