Fluid statics (also called hydrostatics) is the science of fluids at rest, and is a sub-field within fluid mechanics. The term usually refers to the mathematical treatment of the subject. It embraces the study of the conditions under which fluids are at rest in stable equilibrium. The use of fluid to do work is called hydraulics, and the science of fluids in motion is fluid dynamics.
Due to the fundamental nature of fluids, a fluid cannot remain at rest under the presence of a shear stress. However, fluids can exert pressure normal to any contacting surface. If a point in the fluid is thought of as an infinitesimally small cube, then it follows from the principles of equilibrium that the pressure on every side of this unit of fluid must be equal. If this were not the case, the fluid would move in the direction of the resulting force. Thus, the pressure on a fluid at rest is isotropic; i.e., it acts with equal magnitude in all directions. This characteristic allows fluids to transmit force through the length of pipes or tubes; i.e., a force applied to a fluid in a pipe is transmitted, via the fluid, to the other end of the pipe.

Formation of tissue fluid due to hydrostatic pressure in capillaries and re-entry of water due to water potential gradient, by osmosis. This is what results in outflow of water and solutes on the arterial side of the capillary and flow of solutes back into the capillary at the vein side. Excess tissue fluid enters the lymphatic vessels forming the fluid called lymph. Within these vessels there are high numbers of lymphocytes and high levels of carbon dioxide, but low levels of nutrients and oxygen. Using things found around the place, I combined them to make a device to demonstrate the power of gravity to lift a large amount of weight (65 - 75 lbs) with a small amount of water (1 - 2 lbs). I had tried removing the little sintered filter that served as a muffler for the hydrostatic pressure test pump and noticed the the machine run much quicker and was returning much harder on the up-stroke, even when moving very slowly with little pressure driving the air drive. That snapping sound bothered me and after consulting with Rick Nickels the owner of HYDRO-STAT, Inc. in Deerfield Beach, I decided to re-install the little sintered filter element at the end of the half inch pipe that I had screwed into the machine; to carry the sound and oil vapor outside our hydro room. That snapping sound stopped and the machine appears to be working -

Discussion focussing on the mechanism of sucrose translocation between plant tissues through phloem tissue. Sucrose is produced at the 'source' tissue. Companion cells in phloem tissue actively transport protons out of the cell. This creates a proton gradient, which a cotransporter protein uses to transport both protons and sucrose into the companion cells. As the concentration of sucrose rises inside the companion cells it diffuses through the plasmodesma and into the phloem tube. This lowers the water potential inside the phloem tube and causes water to move by osmosis. Hydrostatic pressure rises as a result and causes movement of water and solutes from this region to another which may have a lower hydrostatic pressure, i.e., a sink. Simples!- published: 25 Apr 2015

This is what results in outflow of water and solutes on the arterial side of the capillary and flow of solutes back into the capillary at the vein side. Excess tissue fluid enters the lymphatic vessels forming the fluid called lymph. Within these vessels there are high numbers of lymphocytes and high levels of carbon dioxide, but low levels of nutrients and oxygen. Once again, using stuff found around the place, including two young boys willing to participate in a demonstration of the lifting power of increasing the depth of water rather than merely increasing the quantity. Watch the video and see if you can figure out what is happening. Using things found around the place, I combined them to make a device to demonstrate the power of gravity to lift a large amount of weight (65 - 75 lbs) with a small amount of water (1 - 2 lbs). I wanted to see if a small amount of water - because it was restricted in width, but not in height, would lift a large mass because of the water pressure or "head pressure" of the column of water. Once the device was set up, two to three cups of water, weighing approximately, 1.8 lbs, easily lifted either of the small boys, weighting 55 lbs and 65 lbs, respectively, one to two inches. 1.8 lbs of water lifted a 55 lb boy plus the 10 lbs of a cement block that had been holding down the recycled hot water bottle, which was used as the expanding water reservoir. I had tried removing the little sintered filter that served as a muffler for the hydrostatic pressure test pump and noticed the the machine run much quicker and was returning much harder on the up-stroke, even when moving very slowly with little pressure driving the air drive. That snapping sound bothered me and after consulting with Rick Nickels the owner of HYDRO-STAT, Inc. in Deerfield Beach, I decided to re-install the little sintered filter element at the end of the half inch pipe that I had screwed into the machine; to carry the sound and oil vapor outside our hydro room. That snapping sound stopped and the machine appears to be working normally.- published: 13 Apr 2015
