A: No, I simply decided to focus more on college than Elsword. I also lost motivation to keep playing when PvP seasons 3 and 4 rolled by with no signs of new PvP content (I don't mean balance, but rather maps, modes, and any other additions to make it feel fresh again). For those reasons, I didn't log on nearly as often, and there were at least a few months in 2015 where I didn't log on at all. I come back every once in a while to play in official tournaments because at the very least those make the game feel interesting and competitive again. I'm also on spring break right now without any other plans, so I was able to finally get a video out. Q: Do you main Ara now? A: I played tournaments with her, but I still have far more experience with Raven. If you haven't seen my BM in-game, it's simply because I haven't been playing Elsword at all. As I said above, I usually only came back for tournaments, and when I did, I competed with my YR. Ever since the release of DiE, Raven simply couldn't compete in a serious 2v2 setting. He might've been capable of punishing some normals, but his hitboxes were too small, flimsy, and short-ranged to contest Ara, Add, and Luciel's constant special actives and resource recycling. In comparison, Raven has to rely on slow, timer-based resource gain. The worst part is that even when he got catches, he couldn't force much damage out before the enemy's teammate came in for the save. Raven was overall an unrewarding character to play in teams. Q: What do you think about the current BM? A: They've really dumbed him down by giving him an unpunishable (by normals) dive and air shadow thrust. Those are really the only two things you need to catch anymore, and you'll see that most of my catches in the video come from these tools. As a result, I dislike how he plays now, but at the same time I can understand why he received those changes. The renewals have given everyone so much utility that without these additions, he simply wouldn't be able to compete with the rest of the cast. Combo-wise he has too many actives that serve no purpose other than dishing out damage, to the point where by the time you've used them all, the opponent has already mana broken. Even if this weren't a problem, the damage/KD distribution on his normals is a bit messed up. There's no reason to loop anything other than ZZXX ^vX because of how much damage it deals at the cost of negative KD. XZZ launch was removed which is upsetting on its own, but it has also been turned into an infinite loop which makes the rest of his grounded combos obsolete. Overall there are a lot of things wrong with his renewal, but he somehow manages to remain a fun character in 1v1. So don't worry; this won't be the last you'll see of my BM. Q: With the renewal and rebalance, has Raven at least become competitive? A: Unfortunately, his crowd control actually got worse with the removal of GI note. The new dive inputs hardly make a difference in teams because they still lose to stoic, projectiles, and special actives. And unfortunately for BM, Armor Crash is useless when tournaments are held in Free Channel. On the other hand, Raven's damage was buffed so much that he can perform reasonably well just by tanking for awakening and special actives. Coupled with external factors like gear, titles, and Ring of Fury, he is definitely viable in arena where people don't play as carefully. However, I doubt he will ever be successful in future official tournaments. Q: Who will you be playing in future tournaments? A: Among the three Ravens, RF is definitely the most playable in a competitive setting. Of course I might also continue with Ara, particularly SD or YR. I'm also considering using LK because his hitboxes (arma) and resource gaining capabilities are capable of competing with with the monster trio. I'm still not fully decided, but currently I'm leaning towards LK or SD. Q: What about future videos? A: My YouTube activity depends on how much free time I have, as well as what I think of the current state of the game. If PvP becomes more interesting to watch, then I'll upload more frequently. I'm aware that most of you prefer to watch my Raven gameplay, so I'll keep that in mind when recording future videos. As for free time, I'll be graduating from university this May. I already have a job lined up which I'll be starting in July, but even then I'll probably have more time to play Elsword than before. Q: What other games have you been playing?
