DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana is a private liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The school has a Methodist heritage and was originally known as Indiana Asbury University. DePauw is a member of both the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Society of Professional Journalists was founded at DePauw.
Indiana Asbury University was founded in 1837 in Greencastle, Indiana, and was named after Francis Asbury, the first American bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The people of Greencastle raised $25,000, equivalent to around $500,000 in 2007 terms, to entice the Methodists to found the college in Greencastle, which was little more than a village at the time. It was originally established as an all men's school, but began admitting women in 1867.
In 1884 Indiana Asbury University changed its name to DePauw University in honor of Washington C. DePauw, who made a sequence of substantial donations throughout the 1870s, which culminated in his largest single donation that established the School of Music during 1884. Before his death in 1887, Mr. DePauw donated over $600,000 to Indiana Asbury, equal to around $13 million in 2007. In 2002, the school received the largest-ever gift to a liberal arts college, $128 million by the Holton family. Sigma Delta Chi, known today as the Society of Professional Journalists, was founded at the university in 1909 by a group of student journalists, including Eugene C. Pulliam. The world's first Greek-letter sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, was also founded at DePauw in 1870. DePauw is home to the two longest continually running fraternity chapters in the world, the Delta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi and the Lambda Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. DePauw is home to Indiana's first chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
The DePauw is a tabloid-sized newspaper published most Tuesdays and Fridays of the school year by the DePauw University Board of Control of Student Publications. The newspaper receives no funding from DePauw University and owns its offices, which are located in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on DePauw's campus in Greencastle, Ind. The DePauw is delivered free of charge to students on the dates of publication. Free issues also are provided to the faculty, staff and administration. Paid circulation is limited to mailed copies of the newspaper. The DePauw is also online. The newspaper also has a Facebook page and a Twitter account.
In its 164th year, The DePauw is Indiana's oldest college newspaper, founded in 1852 under the name Asbury Notes. The DePauw is a completely independent, not-for-profit organization and is fully staffed by students. Nicole DeCriscio is the current Editor-in-Chief of The DePauw.
Academic Challenge can mean:
A percussion ensemble is a musical ensemble consisting of only percussion instruments. Although the term can be used to describe any such group, it commonly refers to groups of classically trained percussionists performing primarily classical music. In America, percussion ensembles are most commonly found at conservatories, though some professional groups, such as Nexus and So Percussion exist. Drumlines and groups who regularly meet for drum circles are two other forms of the percussion ensemble.
George Antheil's Ballet Mécanique (1923) is one of the earliest examples of composition for percussion, written originally as a film score and exemplifying the ideals of the Italian futurist movement. Antheil originally called for sixteen synchronized player pianos, as well as airplane engines, alongside more traditional percussion instruments. Another early example, Cuban composer Amadeo Roldán's Ritmicas nos. 5 and 6 of 1930, made use of Cuban percussion instruments and rhythms. But it was Edgard Varèse's Ionisation that "opened the floodgates" and truly brought the percussion ensemble into the fold of contemporary composition. Premiered in 1933 under the baton of Nicholas Slonimsky, Ionisation is thematically structured and makes use of 13 performers playing over 30 different instruments, including Latin percussion instruments, drums, cymbals, sirens, a piano, chimes and glockenspiel.

'I don't care'
If only I could say that
And not feel so sick and scared
'I don't care'
If only I could say that
If only my eyes would close...
'It's Jesus brilliant'
You used to laugh
'Walking these gorgeous blocks...
This top is the place
Where nobody goes
You just imagine
You just imagine it all... '
Every day I lie here
And know that it's true
All I really want is you
Please come back
Please come back
Like all the other ones do...
Please come back
All of you...
