Delta Lea Goodrem (born 9 November 1984) is an Australian singer-songwriter and pianist. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she enrolled in dancing, acting, singing and piano classes at a young age. She began her career as a child actress, starring in various television shows and rose to prominence in 2002 in the Australian soap opera Neighbours as Nina Tucker.
Venturing into the music industry, Goodrem recorded an album entitled Delta through an independent label, which was never released due to legal reasons. Subsequently signing to Sony at the age of 15, she released her multi-platinum album Innocent Eyes which topped the Australian albums chart and UK Albums Chart. It became one of the highest selling albums in Australian history, with 4.5 million copies sold worldwide and all five of its singles— "Born to Try", "Lost Without You", "Innocent Eyes", "Not Me, Not I", and "Predictable"—reaching number one in Australia and three of them reaching the top ten in the UK. This gave her the record for becoming the first ever artist to have five Number 1 singles from a debut album.
Joel Rueben Madden (born Joel Rueben Combs; March 11, 1979) is an American singer, record producer, actor, DJ, and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, best known as the lead vocalist for the pop punk band Good Charlotte.
Madden was born Joel Rueben Combes in Waldorf, Maryland. He has an identical twin brother, [Benji Madden], who plays rhythm guitar in their band Good Charlotte. He also has an older brother named Josh and a younger sister named Sarah. Madden attended [La Plata High School].
In 1995, at the age of 16, Joel Madden, his brother Benji and a friend started their own band. The band was short lived and the Maddens eventually recruited fellow high schoolers Paul Thomas and Aaron Escolopio to form Good Charlotte. They took the name Good Charlotte from a children's book.
In the 2001 film Not Another Teen Movie, Joel and the other Good Charlotte members made a cameo as the band at the school's prom. He later had a cameo role in the 2004 film Fat Albert and in the 2006 film Material Girls with his brother Benji. He also had a guest appearance in the popular kids' show "The Naked Brothers Band," in which he joined the band for a performance.
The Voice is an Australian reality talent show that premiered on the Nine Network on 15 April 2012 and repeats on GO!. Based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, the series was created by Dutch television producer John de Mol.
The series is hosted by Darren McMullen, with Faustina Agolley as social media correspondent and features Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban, Joel Madden and Seal as the four "coaches".
The Voice Australia was renewed for a second season on 27 April 2012.
The series is part of the The Voice franchise and is based on a similar competition format in The Netherlands entitled The Voice of Holland. The winner receives a recording contract with Universal Music.
The series consists of three phases: a blind audition, a battle phase, and live performance shows. Four judges/coaches, all noteworthy recording artists, choose teams of contestants through a blind audition process. Each judge has the length of the auditioner's performance (about one minute) to decide if he or she wants that singer on his or her team; if two or more judges want the same singer (as happens frequently), the singer has the final choice of coach.
