A computer controls the flow of water, the lights, the strobes, and the fans, etc. An ambisonic sound track plays through 8 hidden speakers and 2 hidden subwoofers. Early in 2012 I built a storm shelter for my family. It's a twelve by twenty concrete block structure designed to be bermed over. Total cost was just over $3,000.
I made the video to walk people through the process; I had never done anything with concrete before this project, so this video is designed to take a beginner and explain everything I had to learn in order to do this. Well, maybe not everything, but a lot - the important stuff.

In parts of the United States where homes do not have basements and construction of storm cellars are becoming rare, storm rooms are gaining popularity as a defense against tornadoes and other storms.
A storm room is a freestanding above-ground room that is fabricated using walls created with layers of Kevlar bonded to a 4-inch-thick (100 mm) panel of engineered foam and sandwiched between two layers of plywood. The Kevlar acts like a trampoline and bounces back projectiles hurled by the winds from a tornado. A storm room is attached only to the concrete slab of a structure without touching the structural walls, and can be installed in existing structure and well as new construction.

Early in 2012 I built a storm shelter for my family. It's a twelve by twenty concrete block structure designed to be bermed over. Total cost was just over $3,000.
I made the video to walk people through the process; I had never done anything with concrete before this project, so this video is designed to take a beginner and explain everything I had to learn in order to do this. Well, maybe not everything, but a lot - the important stuff.
