Man Tests Out Target's New Bathroom Policy, Asks to Use Female Restroom
Andy Park wanted to test the limits of Target’s new bathroom policy that allows transgender people to use whichever store restroom “corresponds with their gender identity.” Park visited a Target store in St Petersburg, Florida, on April 22 and recorded his experiences on a hidden camera. In the video he asks Target staff if he can use the female restroom as he “gets uncomfortable in the men’s room,” and a manager confirms that he can.The video has since gone viral. On his Facebook page, Park says his video was not directed at transgender people but rather “macho heterosexuals who will use this policy to walk in to women’s rooms and commit crimes.” Target have been criticized for their new policy and a petition calling for a boycott of the chain claims to have over 869,000 signatures.

An organization known as Freedom For All Americans has released an ad against the discriminatory bathroom law in North Carolina targeting the transgender community. The ad explains the absurdity of the new HB2 law in a logical and effective way. Ana Kasparian, Brett Erlich (Pop Trigger), and Kim Horcher (Nerd Alert), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. "In the one-minute ad, Zeke Christopoulos, a transgender man, sits and talks with two coworkers about his gender and about North Carolina’s HB2 law — which repeals all of the state’s local LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances and bans transgender people from the restrooms that match their gender identity. Governor Pat McCrory signed the bill in March, referring to North Carolina’s expectation of privacy and “basic community norms.”
In the new ad, Christopoulos’s colleague Patricia Hickling Beckham says, “I remember when I learned that Zeke was transgender, and had transitioned from female to male. And I was a little uncomfortable…” Zeke notes, “And I get that,” before Hickling Beckham adds, “But when you stop and think about it, everyone needs to use the bathroom just to get through their day. And a law that forces Zeke to use the women’s restroom is totally inappropriate.””*

"With all of the hysteria surrounding bathroom bills, it was only a matter of time until citizens started taking the matter into their own hands.
On Thursday, Jessica Rush was at the Baylor Medical Center to get her two broken fingers examined. While she was waiting to be seen, she decided to use the restroom. As reported by the Dallas Observer, this commonplace decision turned into a dramatic encounter when a man in the waiting room followed her to bathroom, believing she was a man.
Rush, a woman who identifies as a woman, was, in fact, headed to the women’s restroom. But because she has short hair and was dressed androgynously, the man felt that he must intervene. Rush captured the incident on camera.
“When I saw you enter I thought you was…” the man says.
“A boy?” Rush offers.
“Yeah, it was kind of confusing,” he said. “You dress like a man.””*

An organization known as Freedom For All Americans has released an ad against the discriminatory bathroom law in North Carolina targeting the transgender community. The ad explains the absurdity of the new HB2 law in a logical and effective way. Ana Kasparian, Brett Erlich (Pop Trigger), and Kim Horcher (Nerd Alert), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. On Thursday, Jessica Rush was at the Baylor Medical Center to get her two broken fingers examined. While she was waiting to be seen, she decided to use the restroom. As reported by the Dallas Observer, this commonplace decision turned into a dramatic encounter when a man in the waiting room followed her to bathroom, believing she was a man. Rush, a woman who identifies as a woman, was, in fact, headed to the women’s restroom. But because she has short hair and was dressed androgynously, the man felt that he must intervene. Man Tests Out Target's New Bathroom Policy, Asks to Use Female Restroom Andy Park wanted to test the limits of Target’s new bathroom policy that allows transgender people to use whichever store restroom “corresponds with their gender identity.” Park visited a Target store in St Petersburg, Florida, on April 22 and recorded his experiences on a hidden camera. Governor Pat McCrory signed the bill in March, referring to North Carolina’s expectation of privacy and “basic community norms.”
In the new ad, Christopoulos’s colleague Patricia Hickling Beckham says, “I remember when I learned that Zeke was transgender, and had transitioned from female to male. More and more women throughout the country are being harassed as they attempt to use public restrooms. Individuals who question whether or not they’re actually women follow them into bathrooms and violate their privacy. "With all of the hysteria surrounding bathroom bills, it was only a matter of time until citizens started taking the matter into their own hands.
On Thursday, Jessica Rush was at the Baylor Medical Center to get her two broken fingers examined. While she was waiting to be seen, she decided to use the restroom. As reported by the Dallas Observer, this commonplace decision turned into a dramatic encounter when a man in the waiting room followed her to bathroom, believing she was a man.
Rush, a woman who identifies as a woman, was, in fact, headed to the women’s restroom. But because she has short hair and was dressed androgynously, the man felt that he must intervene. Rush captured the incident on camera.
“When I saw you enter I thought you was…” the man says.
“A boy?” Rush offers.
“Yeah, it was kind of confusing,” he said. “You dress like a man.””*
