Coordinates: 46°42′N 10°06′E / 46.700°N 10.100°E / 46.700; 10.100
The Spöl or Aqua Granda is an Italian and Swiss river and is a tributary of the Inn.
The source of the river is near Corno di Campo in the Province of Sondrio in Italy. It flows northeast past Livigno and into Lago di Livigno. It exits the lake at the Italian/Swiss border and flows northwest through Parc Naziunal Svizzer before emptying into the Inn near Zernez.
Despite rising in Italy, the river is a tributary of the Inn, and the Danube, rather than of the Po. In other words, its valley is on the northern side of the Alpine watershed. In this area geographical and political boundaries do not coincide.
Due to an international treaty, an artificial lake, Lago di Livigno, was created by Engadiner Kraftwerke in the 1960s, with a dam on the border. This caused the flooding of part of the ancient village of Livigno. Despite indemnisation, not all inhabitants were willing to leave this part of the valley.
The reservoir has a capacity of 164 million cubic metres (133,000 acre·ft). Its minimum and maximum water levels above sea level are at 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) and 1,805 metres (5,922 ft) respectively. Since its construction, this lake had been off-limits for any activity, such as wind-surfing or rowing, until the summer of 2005, when Italy's National Rowing team was authorized to train on the lake.

And now on to Switzerland! Our destination was Mürren, a gorgeous cliffside town above the Lauterbrunnen valley where you can see stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. There are no cars allowed in Mürren, so to get up there you have to either take two gondolas, or a gondola and a small train. We made a point to eat a lot of traditional Swiss food, including fondue, raclette, and rosti. Near the valley entrance stop at Tunnel View, and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. From Tunnel View it’s just a short drive to Bridalveil Fall. Fed by snowmelt, the fall reaches its thundering peak in May.
The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. The ring road is dotted with trailheads that lead to 800 miles of hiking trails. The Four Mile Trail climbs the valley’s southern wall to two of Yosemite’s great outlooks, Glacier Point and Washburn Point. Further along the ring road is the trailhead for The Mist Trail, which offers stunning views of Vernal and Nevada Falls.
For thousands of years, the Ahwaneechee had villages throughout this valley, but it was at the base of Yosemite Falls where their great chief resided. Take the one-hour hike to the lower falls, or spend the day climbing all the way to the upper falls.
To the north of Yosemite Valley, is Tioga Road, one of the USA’s most scenic highways. Fill your lungs with alpine air at Olmsted Point, refresh yourself by the waters of Tenaya Lake, then spend the day at Tuolumne Meadow, the traditional summer hunting grounds of the Ahwaneechee.
From its high country to its waterfalls, its towering sequoia groves to its valley meadows, Yosemite is an American story unlike any other.

And now on to Switzerland! Our destination was Mürren, a gorgeous cliffside town above the Lauterbrunnen valley where you can see stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. There are no cars allowed in Mürren, so to get up there you have to either take two gondolas, or a gondola and a small train.
We made a point to eat a lot of traditional Swiss food, including fondue, raclette, and rosti. Here are the two restaurants featured in the video:
