Chumlee isn’t related to the family by blood, but he has certainly become a part of the family over the years. The customer service pro is an old friend of Rick’s son, Corey, and they have known each other well since childhood.
Chumlee is formally known as Austin Russell. He has known the
Harrison family since childhood, and he is known for his big heart. Austin was given the nickname Chumlee in elementary school in reference to a walrus cartoon character on the
1960s show
Tennessee Tuxedo.
Despite his crazy name and sometimes radical appearance, Chumlee is without a doubt the nicest person on the show. He is often the first to handle customers because of his empathy and excellent communication skills. On the flip side, he is not considered the best businessman or decision maker. In fact, Chumlee is known to get on Rick’s nerves because he often messes up deals. He may not have the best skills in the shop, but he has taken his expertise into another business venture which includes his own line of shirts and novelty items.
Russell widely known as Chumlee is an
American reality television personality. Chumlee has earned his net worth from his per episode salary in History Channel show’s "Pawn Stars" amounting to $25,
000. He started working at Gold & Silver Pawn Shop where he did behind-the-counter work for five years before its first filming and premiere in July 2009. In 2009, Chumlee joined the first season of the reality television series Pawn Stars where he is depicted as a comic foil and has been referred as "village idiot". As a result of his breakout character, he formed his own company selling novelty items such as T-shirts which he himself designed. In
2010, he sell half of the company to
Rick Harrison for efficient merchandising. On
November 3,
2012, he appeared in an episode of the
