After 10 years at KJRH, Deana Silk is moving to Oklahoma City. The List's Erin Christy caught up with the teary-eyed morning anchor to talk about what she'll miss most (and not at all) about T-Town. Plus, another Channel 2 alum hits prime time! Get caught up and clued in around Tulsa!
Courtesy of Blake Etter, circa 1983 from KJRH Channel 2 in Tulsa: tryouts for the Oklahoma Outlaws Cheerleaders. The Outlaws were a pro football team based out of Tulsa in 1984, moving to Arizona the following year. A KJRH Newscenter 2 clapboard appears quickly in the middle of all this. Ends with a KJRH bumper. For some reason, the sound is speeded up a bit. This is the Tornado Warning that was very short lived that was for Creek and Tulsa County. Please comment any requests and I will do my best to accommodating them.
This aircheck is from the weekend news in June, 1985. KJRH was and to this day is the #3 station in the market. Of note, is a very young twentysomething Mike Morgan, now the chief meteorologist at KFOR in Oklahoma City. The Frank Gari "Hello News" package is used to good effect here.

tonight I'll dream a girl called home
and wake up in tears
all on my own
with the sun coming up
and my head against stone
balcony dressed and drawn
tonight I'll Dream a room so far away
frost pale blue
the colour of a perfect day
and then screw up my face
in the mirror
as I wait for the others to call
but if I don't believe in magic
and I don't believe in blood
and I don't believe in miracles
and I don't believe in love
then how come I believe so soon
in a cherry tree girl
and a dust blue room?
tonight I'll dream an hour so long
shadow soft smiles
and everyone loves me
to open my eyes
in a drag myself face undone
hard back into the world
tonight I'll dream a dream I dream
without even trying I'm flying I scream
as I practice the move
I spit at my pillow stained face
and the others all come
but if I don't believe in magic
and I don't believe in blood
and I don't believe in miracles
and I don't believe in love
then how come I believe it seems
in a girl called home
