Zacarías Manuel "Zack" de la Rocha (born January 12, 1970) is an American rapper, musician, poet, and activist best known as the vocalist and lyricist of Rage Against the Machine.
Zack de la Rocha's father, Roberto "Beto" de la Rocha, played an integral part in his son's cultural upbringing. Beto (of Spanish-Jewish descent, and born to Mexican-American parents) was a muralist and a member of Los Four — the first Chicano art collective to be exhibited at a museum (LACMA, 1973). De la Rocha's grandfather was a Sinaloan revolutionary born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, who fought in the Mexican Revolution and worked as an agricultural labourer in the US. Later, de la Rocha would see the hardships his grandfather endured reflected in the struggles of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation.
When de la Rocha was a year old, his parents separated. He and his German-Irish mother, Olivia de la Rocha, moved from East Los Angeles to Irvine, California, where Olivia attended the University of California at Irvine and earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology. Zack described Irvine as "one of the most racist cities imaginable. If you were a Mexican in Irvine, you were there because you had a broom or a hammer in your hand." It was also at an Irvine grade school, where young Zack met his friend and future Rage Against the Machine bandmate, Tim Commerford.
Michael Kirk Douglas (born September 25, 1944) is an American actor and producer, primarily in movies and television. He has won three Golden Globes and two Academy Awards; as producer of 1975's Best Picture, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and as Best Actor in 1987 for his role in Wall Street. Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009. He is the eldest of actor Kirk Douglas's four sons.
Douglas was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the first child of actor Kirk Douglas and Bermudian-born actress Diana Dill. His paternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Gomel in Belarus (at that time a part of the Russian Empire). His mother was from Devonshire Parish, Bermuda; Douglas's maternal grandfather, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Melville Dill, served as Attorney General of Bermuda and was commanding officer of the Bermuda Militia Artillery. Douglas has a younger brother, Joel Douglas (born 1947), and two paternal half-brothers, Peter Douglas (born 1955) and Eric Douglas (1958–2004), from stepmother Anne Buydens.
I see you, you're crying, you're sick and tired of trying
And I feel you, your sorrow, you're afraid to face tomorrow
Oh something's the matter, there's only tears, no laughter
And it's a razor for sadness, and pills to end the madness
Oh in the night, hear me cry, I'm calling for you
My love is free, can't you see
You're the jewel in the eye of my heart
I want you and I need you, one chance is all I'm asking
My love is unending, my joy is everlasting
And my promise I give you that I will leave you never
And I'll hold you and keep you to be with me forever...
Oh in the night, hear me cry, I'm calling for you
My love is free, can't you see
You're the jewel in the eye of my heart
Daddy's busy, mother has no time
Sister says everything will be just fine
Where did it start, where did it begin?
But you can live, yes you can love again
Oh in the night, hear me cry, I'm calling for you
My love is free, can't you see
You're the jewel in the eye of my heart
Take my hand, a new day's dawning
Its an everlasting morning
Stand by my side and let it last forever
Take my hand, don't be afraid now
Take the love that you have longed for
Stand by my side and let me love
