Explosions rock Indonesia's Bali, killing 30

JAKARTA, Oct. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 30 people were killed in Saturday's three explosions at two tourism spots of Jimbaran and Kuta Town Square in Indonesia's resort province of Bali, local radio station Alssinda reported.

Dozens of injured people were rushed to local hospitals and most of them were foreign tourists, it added.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono condemned the blasts on the island of Bali that he called a criminal act and is heading to the island, the presidential spokesman said.

"The president strongly condemns this criminal act. At this moment, the president is at the airport (in Jakarta)," spokesman Andi Mallarangeng told El Shinta radio.

According to the official news agency Antara, the first and second explosions occurred at 18:50 (local time) at a food court in Jimbaran district and the third blast at 19:00 in Kuta Town Square.

Antara quoted witnesses as saying that the blasts damaged several buildings.

There was no immediate confirmation of what had caused the blasts.

The bombings came almost three years after the deadly blasts rocked the island in 2002, killing 202 people, mostly foreign tourists. Enditem
