Which browser does Vimeo recommend for uploading?

Although Vimeo supports all major browsers, we recommend using a browser that supports our Advanced Uploader. The Advanced Uploader uses proven technology to prevent uploads from failing even if your Internet connection is slow or intermittent. You can also pause and resume your uploads with the Advanced Uploader if you lose your connection.

These browsers currently support Vimeo's Advanced Uploader:

Can I upload videos in HD?

Yes, as long as they fit within your upload quota.

Your video will appear on Vimeo in the following resolutions, if either the larger dimension or the smaller dimension meets the restrictions below:

4K
Larger dimension must be at least 3648px, OR
Smaller dimension must be at least 2052px

2K
Larger dimension must be at least 2432px, OR
Smaller dimension must be at least 1368px

1080p
Larger dimension must be at least 1824px, OR
Smaller dimension must be at least 1026px

720p
Larger dimension must be at least 1216px, OR
Smaller dimension must be at least 684px

SD
All videos

These numbers may look a bit strange — that’s because we leave wiggle room in our calculations so that videos that are just shy of “standard” can still be considered “HD.”

Should I deinterlace before I upload?

It's almost always a good idea. If you're outputting 1080i, deinterlace and resize to 1280×720 before you upload. If your final outcome is a progressive medium (web, HDTVs, Blu-Ray, etc.) you might want to deinterlace before you even start editing.

Can I add information about my video while it uploads?

You bet! While your video uploads, you can add a title, description, and tags as well as credits for any people who appear in your video or helped you make it.

From the Privacy tab, you can set your desired level of keep-it-on-the-DLness for your new video, and under the Collections tab, you can add your video to any of your Channels or Groups. Go to the Embed tab to finesse your embedding settings, and under Advanced you can add pictures from Flickr or Picasa, create a custom URL for your video, and apply a Creative Commons License. Just make sure to save your changes after all the customizing!
