GateKeeper is a steel roller coaster located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M;), it is the fifth Wing Coaster model in the world. The ride opened on May 11, 2013, on the most successful opening weekend in the park's history. GateKeeper has the highest inversion in the world, with its 164-foot (50 m) Wing Over drop. It has broken several Wing Coaster records, including those for height, speed, track length, drop height and the number of inversions. The coaster has a 170 ft (52 m), 40 degree inclined lift hill with a 164 ft (50 m) drop, and features two keyhole towers that the trains travel through. It has a top speed of about 67 mph (108 km/h).
Construction began in September 2012 and took about eight months to complete. A new entrance plaza for the park was built, with the keyhole towers as the centerpiece. GateKeeper replaced Disaster Transport and Space Spiral, which were demolished during the summer of 2012, bringing Cedar Point back to 16 roller coasters. It was the first new roller coaster at Cedar Point since Maverick debuted in 2007, and the third B&M; coaster in the park following Raptor (1994) and Mantis (1996). GateKeeper was the most popular roller coaster in terms of riders at Cedar Point in 2013 and ranked 28th in the Golden Ticket Awards Top Steel Roller Coaster poll.

On a land now abandoned on Frontier Trail, Badlands is taking over, twisting and turning through the open land, through rocks and mines, and anything that may be left behind.
This coaster is a concept of a GCI coaster that is in the place of where Shoot the Rapids previously was. This video is simply a prediction of what may come to be of the site of Shoot the Rapids. No information is provided nor verified by Cedar Point.

The 19th annual HalloWeekends is underway at Cedar Point! Because of my work schedule, I couldn't make it up there Friday or Saturday of opening weekend, but I was able to visit that Sunday. Keep in mind that the park closed early (8 pm) and that the outdoor attractions were closed, so you won't get the full Haunt at HalloWeeekends experience from this video -- sorry! Filmed Sunday, September 20, 2015.
Construction has begun on Valravn, the park's new addition for 2016. When completed, Valravn will be the tallest, fastest, longest dive coaster in the world. Cedar Point will also hold the record for the most roller coaster track at one amusement park (11.4 mi) and the most rides at one amusement park (72!)
Slaughter House is a new maze, wonderfully located next to Millennium Force -- the final scene is awesome, gory but awesome. CarnEvil has been replaced by Fear-y Tales. The new Pumpkin Blaze area along the TTD midway is really cool, with hundreds of pumpkins and gourds arranged in eye-catching patterns. I'm hoping to return in October for the full Haunt experience.

Cedar Point is a 364-acre (147 ha) amusement park located on a Lake Erie peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Opened in 1870, it is the second oldest operating amusement park in the United States behind Lake Compounce. The park is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company and features a world record 74 rides including 16 roller coasters. Known as "America's Roller Coast", Cedar Point is currently tied with Canada's Wonderland for the second most roller coasters in a park.
Cedar Point's normal operating season runs daily from mid-May until Labor Day and then on weekends through the end of October. Other attractions near the park include a one mile (1.6 km)-long white sand beach, an outdoor water park called Soak City, an area known as Challenge Park, two marinas, and several nearby resorts.
The park has reached several milestones such as becoming the only amusement park in the world with four roller coasters taller than 200 feet (61 m) - Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster - as well as being the only park with roller coasters in all four height classifications. Cedar Point has also received the Golden Ticket Award for "Best Amusement Park in the World" from Amusement Today for the past fourteen years.

The 19th annual HalloWeekends is underway at Cedar Point! Because of my work schedule, I couldn't make it up there Friday or Saturday of opening weekend, but I was able to visit that Sunday. Keep in mind that the park closed early (8 pm) and that the outdoor attractions were closed, so you won't get the full Haunt at HalloWeeekends experience from this video -- sorry! Filmed Sunday, September 20, 2015. Construction has begun on Valravn, the park's new addition for 2016. When completed, Valravn will be the tallest, fastest, longest dive coaster in the world. Cedar Point will also hold the record for the most roller coaster track at one amusement park (11.4 mi) and the most rides at one amusement park (72!) Slaughter House is a new maze, wonderfully located next to Millennium Force -- the final scene is awesome, gory but awesome. CarnEvil has been replaced by Fear-y Tales. The new Pumpkin Blaze area along the TTD midway is really cool, with hundreds of pumpkins and gourds arranged in eye-catching patterns. I'm hoping to return in October for the full Haunt experience. -

Since then a dozen B&M; inverts that have broken those records, but Raptor's reputation as one of the best still remains. Unfortunately it made headlines again after an fatal accident in 2015 when a man jumped over the perimeter fence to retrieve a mobile phone, was struck by the coaster and died. Plot: Try and remember your favorite amusement park. It's easy. Have you ever wondered how these parks started? Welcome Back Riders breaks new ground, taking a collective look at the history of amusement parks. This film is not a superficial examination of 'who has the biggest roller coaster.' Instead, Welcome Back Riders explores the history of the amusement park as a part of Americana, and the larger-than-life visionaries who creations, from Coney Island to Disneyland, were, and are, a reflection of America's evolving culture. The ride begins with the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, continues through the Great Depression and straight into present day. We learn how some have survived, and with heartbreaking footage, we see what remains of once alive parks. Through Riders unique storytelling process, the essence of 10 parks are brought to life through character narrators with an intricate script that focuses on the story, with no interviews and few dates or statistics. Behind each park, a creative visionary poured his heart into crafting a park that reflected his personality, from Walt Disney to Milton Hershey. As the film unfolds, it becomes the first American Amusement Park biography. Using an antique 35mm camera, the film combines archival footage as early as 1901, home videos and colorful postcards of the parks, to both educate and entertain, cultivating a greater appreciation for a favorite American pastime. Welcome Back Riders combines history and personal journeys into one touching story, while evoking the nostalgia we all carry towards our favorite amusement park.

Raptor off-ride HD Cedar Point
This 137 foot tall, 57 mph B&M; (Bolliger & Mabillard) inverted coaster opened in 1994 as the tallest and fastest of its kind on the planet, but that reign only lasted two years. Since then a dozen B&M; inverts that have broken those records, but Raptor's reputation as one of the best still remains. Cedar Point OPENING DAY 2015
Opening day at Cedar Point -- finally! New for 2015 is Rougarou, a floorless roller coaster that replaces Mantis, which was a stand-up coaster. Same track, different trains, and in my opinion, a welcome change. In the off-season, Good Time Theater was demolished, Turnpike Cars was removed, and Dodgem and Calypso were relocated to the Wicked Twister midway, with Calypso being renamed Tiki Twirl. I was quite impressed with Hotel Breakers, which has been completely refurbished inside and out and looks magnificent. Also, the Coral Courtyard has been replaced by Lakeside Pavilion, another nice improvement to the beachfront. COASTERMANIA! at Cedar Point 2015
Swarms of coaster enthusiasts and muffleheads descended on Cedar Point for the annual CoasterMania event. It featured hours of ERT on several coasters and other rides, a free lunch and complimentary merchandise. I didn't arrive early enough for morning ERT, so I missed out on the early activities. Wicked Twister was the only coaster down for the day. Top Thrill Dragster was closed during evening ERT due to windy conditions, and replaced with Millennium Force - awesome! Filmed Friday, June 5, 2015. This video features 16 of CP's 17 coasters (again, Wicked Twister wasn't open) and some other stuff I encountered during my visit, including another peek behind the construction fences. The fake snowflakes you see floating around in many scenes are cottonwood seeds. And the bugs, they're muffleh... -

GateKeeper is a steel roller coaster located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M;), it is the fifth Wing Coaster model in the world. The ride opened on May 11, 2013, on the most successful opening weekend in the park's history. GateKeeper has the highest inversion in the world, with its 164-foot (50 m) Wing Over drop. It has broken several Wing Coaster records, including those for height, speed, track length, drop height and the number of inversions. The coaster has a 170 ft (52 m), 40 degree inclined lift hill with a 164 ft (50 m) drop, and features two keyhole towers that the trains travel through. It has a top speed of about 67 mph (108 km/h).
Construction began in September 2012 and took about eight months to complete. A new entrance plaza for the park was built, with the keyhole towers as the centerpiece. GateKeeper replaced Disaster Transport and Space Spiral, which were demolished during the summer of 2012, bringing Cedar Point back to 16 roller coasters. It was the first new roller coaster at Cedar Point since Maverick debuted in 2007, and the third B&M; coaster in the park following Raptor (1994) and Mantis (1996). GateKeeper was the most popular roller coaster in terms of riders at Cedar Point in 2013 and ranked 28th in the Golden Ticket Awards Top Steel Roller Coaster poll.

The 19th annual HalloWeekends is underway at Cedar Point! Because of my work schedule, I couldn't make it up there Friday or Saturday of opening weekend, but I was able to visit that Sunday. Keep in mind that the park closed early (8 pm) and that the outdoor attractions were closed, so you won't get the full Haunt at HalloWeeekends experience from this video -- sorry! Filmed Sunday, September 20, 2015.
Construction has begun on Valravn, the park's new addition for 2016. When completed, Valravn will be the tallest, fastest, longest dive coaster in the world. Cedar Point will also hold the record for the most roller coaster track at one amusement park (11.4 mi) and the most rides at one amusement park (72!)
Slaughter House is a new maze, wonderfully located next to Millennium Force -- the final scene is awesome, gory but awesome. CarnEvil has been replaced by Fear-y Tales. The new Pumpkin Blaze area along the TTD midway is really cool, with hundreds of pumpkins and gourds arranged in eye-catching patterns. I'm hoping to return in October for the full Haunt experience.

This 137 foot tall, 57 mph B&M; (Bolliger & Mabillard) inverted coaster opened in 1994 as the tallest and fastest of its kind on the planet, but that reign only lasted two years. Since then a dozen B&M; inverts that have broken those records, but Raptor's reputation as one of the best still remains. Unfortunately it made headlines again after an fatal accident in 2015 when a man jumped over the perimeter fence to retrieve a mobile phone, was struck by the coaster and died.
Cedar Point, also known as "America's Roller Coast", is located in Sandusky, Ohio.

Opening day at Cedar Point -- finally! New for 2015 is Rougarou, a floorless roller coaster that replaces Mantis, which was a stand-up coaster. Same track, different trains, and in my opinion, a welcome change. In the off-season, Good Time Theater was demolished, Turnpike Cars was removed, and Dodgem and Calypso were relocated to the Wicked Twister midway, with Calypso being renamed Tiki Twirl.
I was quite impressed with Hotel Breakers, which has been completely refurbished inside and out and looks magnificent. Also, the Coral Courtyard has been replaced by Lakeside Pavilion, another nice improvement to the beachfront.
Even with a passholder preview the night before as a warmup, there were some fairly typical opening day hiccups. Mean Streak, Wicked Twister, WindSeeker, and Tiki Twirl were closed all day, while other rides had periodic shutdowns, making for a challenging day of filming for yours truly. Thunderstorms arrived late the day, but for the most part, the weather was cooperative. Thanks for watching! Filmed Saturday, May 9, 2015 (opening sequence filmed 5/8/15.)

Swarms of coaster enthusiasts and muffleheads descended on Cedar Point for the annual CoasterMania event. It featured hours of ERT on several coasters and other rides, a free lunch and complimentary merchandise. I didn't arrive early enough for morning ERT, so I missed out on the early activities. Wicked Twister was the only coaster down for the day. Top Thrill Dragster was closed during evening ERT due to windy conditions, and replaced with Millennium Force - awesome! Filmed Friday, June 5, 2015.
This video features 16 of CP's 17 coasters (again, Wicked Twister wasn't open) and some other stuff I encountered during my visit, including another peek behind the construction fences. The fake snowflakes you see floating around in many scenes are cottonwood seeds. And the bugs, they're muffleheads, and they'll be followed by mayflies soon enough.
Many thanks to all the great folks at Cedar Point for hosting this event year after year. It's fun to meet up with fellow enthusiasts and ride some rides! And thanks to all of you for your support - I certainly appreciate it!
