What it is Like to Have Bipolar, Manic Depression

Jacob began to have feelings of depression as a teenager after he had been bullied. After removing himself from that negative environment, the depression did not go away. At age 15, he also began to experience manic tendencies. Jacob would cycle from one extreme to the other. He would have manic bouts when he was the life of the party, to being so depressed that he didn't want anyone around. Jacob also began to develop serious levels of anxiety to the point where he had to see a physical therapist from extreme muscle tension.
It was at this point that he decided to see a psychiatrist, who diagnosed him with depression and anxiety. She prescribed Jacob Zoloft, which put him into a state of mania. When he went back to see his psychiatrist, he was re diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She also prescribed Depakote for the manic symptoms, which threw him back into depression. She then prescribed Abilify, which gave Jacob akathisia, so it was immediately removed. Trileptal was then tried with no success. Zyprexa was then implemented with serious side effects of drowsiness. A number of other medications were tried, such as lithium, Seroquel and Lamictal. Jacob began to get frustrated at the guessing game of prescribing medications. It got so bad that he began to experience suicidal thoughts.
One day, Jacob went on the internet and looked up bipolar alternatives. He came across a company called Truehope that had a natural product called EMPowerplus, which is used for providing nutritional support for mental and physical well-being. Stephen Fry's documentary on Bipolar disorder. The only other version of this is horribly jumbled and the audio isn't sync'd. So I thought someone should get a good version out there, especially since its impossible to get a hold of outside of the UK thanks to region restrictions.
This is probably the best documentary I've seen for bipolar, and hope it helps someone else.

“Bipolar” is an experimental short movie with 35 minutes of runtime,
entirely shot in split-screen.
It follows the manic-depressive author Andrew Gony, through his phases of mania and depression.
The split-screen is used to visualize both mental stages at the same time.
On one side you can see the manic Andrew and on the other side you can see the depressive author, and how he reacts to different events in those phases. Both sides have different things to deal with, the manic Andrew has lots of energy and ideas, he doesn't require much sleep and in order to deal with his overage of energy he runs, while the depressive Andrew is suffering from insomnia, he is uncreative, non productive and in battle with his inner self.
The movie was made to give the viewer a deep view into the mind of a
manic-depressive person.
"Bipolar" was shot in early 2011 and won several awards at Film Festivals all over the world.

Bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder, also known as bipolar affective disorder or manic depression, is a mental disorder characterized by periods of elevated mood and periods of depression. The elevated mood is significant and is known as mania or hypomania depending on the severity or whether there is psychosis. During mania an individual feels or acts abnormally happy, energetic, or irritable. They often make poorly thought out decisions with little regard to the consequences. The need for sleep is usually reduced. During periods of depression there may be crying, poor eye contact with others, and a negative outlook on life. The risk of suicide among those with the disorder is high at greater than 6% over 20 years, while self harm occurs in 30–40%. Other mental health issues such as anxiety disorder and substance use disorder are commonly associated.
The cause is not clearly understood, but both genetic and environmental factors play a role. Many genes of small effect contribute to risk. Environmental factors include long term stress and a history of childhood abuse. It is divided into bipolar I disorder if there is at least one manic episode and bipolar II disorder if there are at least one hypomanic episode and one major depressive episode. In those with less severe symptoms of a prolonged duration the condition cyclothymic disorder may be present. If due to drugs or medical problems it is classified separately. Other conditions that may present in a similar manner include substance use disorder, personality disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and schizophrenia as well as a number of medical conditions. Blood tests or medical imaging can be done to rule out other problems, although medical testing is not mandatory for a diagnosis.

Crash Course
Crash Course (also known as Driving Academy) is a 1988 made for television teen film directed by Oz Scott.
Plot
Crash Course centers on a group of high schoolers in a driver’s education class; many for the second or third time. The recently divorced teacher, super-passive Larry Pearl, is on thin ice with the football fanatic principal, Principal Paulson, who is being pressured by the district superintendent to raise driver’s education completion rates or lose his coveted football program. With this in mind, Principal Paulson and his assistant, with a secret desire for his job, Abner Frasier, hire an outside driver’s education instructor with a very tough reputation, Edna Savage, aka E.W. Savage, who quickly takes control of the class.
The plot focuses mostly on the students and their interactions with their teachers and each other. In the beginning, Rico is the loner with just a few friends, Chadley is the bookish nerd with few friends who longs to be cool and also longs to be a part of Vanessa’s life who is the young, friendly and attractive girl who had to fake her mother’s signature on her driver’s education permission slip. Kichi is the hip-hop Asian kid who often raps what he has to say and constantly flirts with Maria, the rich foreign girl who thinks that the right-of-way on the roadways always goes to (insert awesomely fake foreign Latino accent) “my father’s limo”. Finally you have stereotypical football meathead J.J., who needs to pass his English exam to keep his eligibility and constantly asks out and gets rejected by Alice, the tomboy whose father owns “Santini & Son” Concrete Company. Alice is portrayed as being the “son” her father wanted.

Bipolar - A Narration Of Manic Depression (Full Short Film - English)
“Bipolar” is an experimental short movie with 35 minutes of runtime, entirely shot in split-screen. It follows the manic-depressive author Andrew Gony, through his phases of mania and depression. The split-screen is used to visualize both mental stages at the same time. On one side you can see the manic Andrew and on the other side you can see the depressive author, and how he reacts to different events in those phases. Both sides have different things to deal with, the manic Andrew has lots of energy and ideas, he doesn't require much sleep and in order to deal with his overage of energy he runs, while the depressive Andrew is suffering from insomnia, he is uncreative, non productive and in battle with his inner self. Jacob began to have feelings of depression as a teenager after he had been bullied. After removing himself from that negative environment, the depression did not go away. At age 15, he also began to experience manic tendencies. Jacob would cycle from one extreme to the other. He would have manic bouts when he was the life of the party, to being so depressed that he didn't want anyone around. Jacob also began to develop serious levels of anxiety to the point where he had to see a physical therapist from extreme muscle tension.
It was at this point that he decided to see a psychiatrist, who diagnosed him with depression and anxiety. She prescribed Jacob Zoloft, which put him into a state of mania. When he went back to see his psychiatrist, he was re diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She also prescribed Depakote for the manic symptoms, which threw him back into depression. She then prescribed Abilify, which gave Jacob akathisia, so it was immediately removed. Trileptal was then tried with no success. Zyprexa was then implemented with serious side effects of drowsiness. A number of other medications were tried, such as lithium, Seroquel and Lamictal. Jacob began to get frustrated at the guessing game of prescribing medications. It got so bad that he began to experience suicidal thoughts.
One day, Jacob went on the internet and looked up bipolar alternatives. He came across a company called Truehope that had a natural product called EMPowerplus, which is used for providing nutritional support for mental and physical well-being. He ordered Truehope EMPowerplus, and was able to come off all his medications.
Jacob reports that he is doing better than he ever has. He also says that he has never been so stable, all because of Truehope's vitamin and mineral solution, Empowerplus.

Stephen Fry's documentary on Bipolar disorder. The only other version of this is horribly jumbled and the audio isn't sync'd. So I thought someone should get a good version out there, especially since its impossible to get a hold of outside of the UK thanks to region restrictions.
This is probably the best documentary I've seen for bipolar, and hope it helps someone else.
