Deadly Secrets Revealed in the
Chernobyl Disaster Zone Documentary
Today on the 28th anniversary of the
Chernobyl disaster, arguably one of the most significant man-made disasters ever recorded, we look back at the history of the accident as well as the lingering effects to the area in this short documentary footage revealing secret footage from the hazard zones where the explosion was caught on tape.
Will the
Ukraine, one of the lands Putin salivates to recapture during secret conversations behind the new
Iron Curtain, be able to keep its aggressive schedule and clean up the festering Chernobyl disaster site by 2065 when scientists believe that radiation will plague the exclusionary zones for hundreds of years to come?
"A law on the state program for decommissioning the
Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (
NPP) and transforming the
Shelter facility into an environmentally safe system took effect. According to the law, the program is aimed at implementing government policy to protect staff, the surrounding population, and the environment from radiation from the
Chornobyl NPP."

"
Cesium 137's half-life — the time it takes for half of a given amount of material to decay — is 30 years. In addition to that, cesium-137's total ecological half-life — the time for half the cesium to disappear from the local environment through processes such as migration, weathering, and removal by organisms is also typically 30 years or less, but the amount of cesium in soil near Chernobyl isn't decreasing nearly that fast. And scientists don't know why.
It stands to reason that at some
point the Ukrainian government would like to be able to use that land again, but the scientists have calculated that what they call cesium's "ecological half-life" — the time for half the cesium to disappear from the local environment — is between
180 and 320 years."

"The
Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant or
Chornobyl Nuclear Power Station (
Ukrainian: Чорнобильська атомна електростанція, Russian: Чернобыльская АЭС) is a decommissioned nuclear power station near the city of
Pripyat, Ukraine, 14.5 km (9.0 mi) northwest of the city of Chernobyl, 16 km (9.9 mi) from the Ukraine--Belarus border, and about
110 km (68 mi) north of
Kiev.
Reactor No. 4 was the site of the Chernobyl disaster in
1986 and the power plant is now within a large restricted area known as the
Chernobyl Exclusion Zone."

"The city of Chernobyl is located in northern Ukraine near the border of
Belarus. Chernobyl's lasting legacy was created on
April 26th, 1986 when the fourth reactor of a nuclear power plant exploded at 1:23 AM local time, resulting in the expulsion of radioactive material and the subsequent evacuation of about 135,
000 people. The aftermath of this disaster has brought about many changes to the region's {C}flora, {C}fauna, and {C}human populations. A boom in biodiversity has also been observed within the exclusion zone despite popular knowledge of Chernobyl existing in a state of ecological disrepair. Many studies have been conducted over the past 20 years to correct many of the pre-conceived notions commonly suspected by scientists since the disaster occurred. Overall, populations have emerged and flourished in Chernobyl for several reasons, the least of which being an absence of human activity."
