Kanchan is a former Indian film actress. She has appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bollywood films, primarily in the 1990s.
Career
Kanchan acted in several films, including the Salman Khan super hit, Sanam Bewafa (1991). She was then seen in Ajith Kumar's debut film Prema Pustagam and worked alongside Mohanlal in Gandharvam. Her appearance in many Hindi films did not help her career much.
Hit films
Kanchan's hit movies are Sanam Bewafa and Gandharvam. She co-starred with Akshay Kumar in Amaanat. She also starred in Coolie No.1 opposite Govinda, Karisma Kapoor and Harish Kumar.

Mumbai (/mʊmˈbaɪ/; also known as Bombay, the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world, with an estimated city population of 18.4 million. The seven islands that came to constitute Mumbai were home to communities of fishing colonies. For centuries, the islands were under the control of successive indigenous empires before being ceded to the Portuguese and subsequently to the British East India Company when in 1661 King Charles II married the Portuguese Catherine of Braganza, and as part of her dowry Charles received the ports of Tangier and seven islands of Bombay. During the mid-18th century, Bombay was reshaped by the Hornby Vellard project, which undertook reclamation of the area between the seven islands from the sea. Along with construction of major roads and railways, the reclamation project, completed in 1845, transformed Bombay into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea. Bombay in the 19th century was characterized by economic and educational development. During the early 20th century it became a strong base for the Indian independence movement. Upon India's independence in 1947 the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as the capital.

Bombay State
Bombay State was a large state of India created at the Independence of India with the merger of the British territories of the Bombay Presidency with the princely states of the Baroda, Western India and Gujarat States and Deccan States political agencies.
On 1 November 1956, Bombay State was re-organized under the States Reorganisation Act, absorbing various territories including the Saurashtra and Kutch States, which ceased to exist. Bombay State was split along linguistic lines in 1960, and some princely states which had formerly belonged to this agency became part of Gujarat and others of Maharashtra.
History
During British rule, portions of the western coast of India under direct British rule were part of the Bombay Presidency. In 1937, the Bombay Presidency became a province of British India.
After India gained independence in 1947, Bombay Presidency became part of India, and Sind province became part of Pakistan. The territory retained by India was restructured into Bombay State. It included princely states such as Kolhapur in Deccan, and Baroda and the Dangs in Gujarat, which had been under the political influence of the former Bombay Presidency.

Bombay cat
Bombay are a type of short-haired cats developed by breeding sable Burmese and black American Shorthair cats to produce a cat of mostly Burmese type, but with a sleek, tight black coat.
History
The breed was developed by Nikki Horner, a breeder from Louisville, Kentucky, who, starting in 1958, attempted to create a breed of cat that resembled a miniature black panther. The first attempt was a failure, but the second in 1965, was successful. The breed was officially recognized and registered by the Cat Fanciers' Association in 1970 and The International Cat Association in 1979. Nikki had the idea of crossing a Burmese with a Black American Shorthair:
"The Shawnee Cattery was established in 1945 and I have worked with a number of breeds including both Burmese and black American Shorthairs. As I looked at these two breeds, I had a vision of what the combination could look like: a black Burmese with copper eyes. I envisioned a cat with the Burmese musculature and the black coat and gold to copper eyes of the American."

Mumbai BEST bus accident: several killed after speeding bus rams into vehicles in Kurla
At least 7 people died and 49 others were injured after a BEST bus in Mumbai dashed other vehicles at Kurla Bhaji Market. The tragedy occurred on December 9 around 9.30 p.m. The bus driver claimed the brakes failed and rammed into the other vehicles and people. The bus rammed into at least 20 to 25 vehicles (autorickshaws, bikes, vans) and several people on S.G. Barve Marg, Kurla West. The bus was proceeding to Saki Naka from Kurla railway station. The accused bus driver, identified as Sanjay More, was arrested the following day. On the night of 9th December, a horrifying incident unfolded on the busy streets of Mumbai. A bus driver lost control, causing a deadly crash that left six people dead and 49 others severely injured. The tragedy occurred around 9:45 pm in the Kurla (West) area, near the bustling Kurla market. The electric bus, on route number 332, was traveling from Kurla Railway Station (West) towards Sakinaka. Nicknamed ‘the infernal Metropolis’, Mumbai is a city in perpetual development. But with millions of people living in slums located on valuable real estate, how can city planners balance the competing needs of the population?
In Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia, over one million people are packed into the 2 km. slum. But although its residents are poor, there’s a real dynamism. Mahesh, 27, was born and lives in this slum and would never leave it. He runs a recycling plant and employs around 20 people. Dharavi’s underground economy is thought to generate 800 million euros per year. But it also lies on prime real estate in the very centre of Mumbai so its future is in doubt.
Every day, new towers of glass or concrete emerge from the earth. With the support of the municipality, real estate tycoon, Babulal Varma, razes slums to build luxury apartments for the upper classes. As the city constantly expands, it pushes into the surrounding forests and natural spaces, such as Sanjay Gandhi Park. The fifty leopards who live there regularly make forays into the new housing estates. They attack stray dogs, but also the inhabitants. Each year, several people are killed by feline attacks. At night, forest department rangers patrol to prevent leopard incursions.
This documentary was produced by Ligne de Front and directed by Marc de La Villardière & Manolo d'Arthuys. It was first released in 2021.

It’s one of the most populous cities on the planet with 22 million inhabitants, predicted to increase to 30 million by 2035. Nicknamed ‘the infernal Metropolis’, Mumbai is a city in perpetual development. But with millions of people living in slums located on valuable real estate, how can city planners balance the competing needs of the population?
In Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia, over one million people are packed into the 2 km. slum. But although its residents are poor, there’s a real dynamism. Mahesh, 27, was born and lives in this slum and would never leave it. He runs a recycling plant and employs around 20 people. Dharavi’s underground economy is thought to generate 800 million euros per year. But it also lies on prime real estate in the very centre of Mumbai so its future is in doubt.
Every day, new towers of glass or concrete emerge from the earth. With the support of the municipality, real estate tycoon, Babulal Varma, razes slums to build luxury apartments for the upper classes. As the city constantly expands, it pushes into the surrounding forests and natural spaces, such as Sanjay Gandhi Park. The fifty leopards who live there regularly make forays into the new housing estates. They attack stray dogs, but also the inhabitants. Each year, several people are killed by feline attacks. At night, forest department rangers patrol to prevent leopard incursions.
This documentary was produced by Ligne de Front and directed by Marc de La Villardière & Manolo d'Arthuys. It was first released in 2021.

We had an awesome day in Mumbai taking in the sights of the city that was previously named Bombay! Mumbai was quite different than other cities we have visited in India so far, mostly because the city is right on the coast. During our one day of exploring Mumbai, we visited the Gateway of India (and almost got robbed), had a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, visited Chowpatty Beach at sunset, tried vada pav for the first time, and got to see the CST train station (chhatrapati shivaji terminus) lit up at night! Oh yeah, and when we arrived in Mumbai we took the local Mumbai train. That was WILD!
If you are visiting Mumbai and are wondering what to do with one day in Bombay, feel free to follow our itinerary! If you are a foreigner visiting India for the first time like we are, be sure to schedule in lots of breaks during your day exploring Mumbai because not only is it very hot, but it's very busy! People at the Gateway to India can be very excited to take pictures with foreigners visiting India, and if you're like us, this can result in a weary traveler! Going for a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace hotel (just across the street from the Gateway of India) is a great way to take a peaceful, air conditioned break after your visit to the harbor.

On the night of 9th December, a horrifying incident unfolded on the busy streets of Mumbai. A bus driver lost control, causing a deadly crash that left six people dead and 49 others severely injured. The tragedy occurred around 9:45 pm in the Kurla (West) area, near the bustling Kurla market. The electric bus, on route number 332, was traveling from Kurla Railway Station (West) towards Sakinaka. The tragic incident was caught on camera. The video shows the electric bus speeding uncontrollably through the streets. The bus brushed past parked vehicles, sparking chaos on the roads. Ramming into over two dozen vehicles—including auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers, and even a police jeep, the bus left a trail of destruction. The bus then crashed into the gates of an apartment building, bringing the madness to a halt. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, but tragically, six lives were lost, and dozens more were injured. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced ₹ 5 lakh financial assistance for the families of each victim. The BEST, the bus service provider, will cover the treatment costs for the injured. The driver, identified as Sanjay More, was arrested and charged with culpable homicide.
In the investigation of the Kurla BEST bus accident, the police found that bus driver Sanjay More began operating the electric bus on December 1 of this year, and it was new to him. However, driver More has been driving heavy vehicles since 1991 and holds a valid license to operate heavy vehicles, including buses, since that time. More, a resident of Aslfa village at Ghatkopar, was arrested by the Kurla police. He has 33 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles. BEST bus service has been suspended since morning after last night incident.

It’s one of the most populous cities on the planet with 22 million inhabitants, predicted to increase to 30 million by 2035. Nicknamed ‘the infernal Metropolis’, Mumbai is a city in perpetual development. But with millions of people living in slums located on valuable real estate, how can city planners balance the competing needs of the population?
In Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia, over one million people are packed into the 2 km. slum. But although its residents are poor, there’s a real dynamism. Mahesh, 27, was born and lives in this slum and would never leave it. He runs a recycling plant and employs around 20 people. Dharavi’s underground economy is thought to generate 800 million euros per year. But it also lies on prime real estate in the very centre of Mumbai so its future is in doubt.
Every day, new towers of glass or concrete emerge from the earth. With the support of the municipality, real estate tycoon, Babulal Varma, razes slums to build luxury apartments for the upper classes. As the city constantly expands, it pushes into the surrounding forests and natural spaces, such as Sanjay Gandhi Park. The fifty leopards who live there regularly make forays into the new housing estates. They attack stray dogs, but also the inhabitants. Each year, several people are killed by feline attacks. At night, forest department rangers patrol to prevent leopard incursions.
This documentary was produced by Ligne de Front and directed by Marc de La Villardière & Manolo d'Arthuys. It was first released in 2021.

We had an awesome day in Mumbai taking in the sights of the city that was previously named Bombay! Mumbai was quite different than other cities we have visited in India so far, mostly because the city is right on the coast. During our one day of exploring Mumbai, we visited the Gateway of India (and almost got robbed), had a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, visited Chowpatty Beach at sunset, tried vada pav for the first time, and got to see the CST train station (chhatrapati shivaji terminus) lit up at night! Oh yeah, and when we arrived in Mumbai we took the local Mumbai train. That was WILD!
If you are visiting Mumbai and are wondering what to do with one day in Bombay, feel free to follow our itinerary! If you are a foreigner visiting India for the first time like we are, be sure to schedule in lots of breaks during your day exploring Mumbai because not only is it very hot, but it's very busy! People at the Gateway to India can be very excited to take pictures with foreigners visiting India, and if you're like us, this can result in a weary traveler! Going for a coffee inside the Taj Mahal Palace hotel (just across the street from the Gateway of India) is a great way to take a peaceful, air conditioned break after your visit to the harbor.

At least 7 people died and 49 others were injured after a BEST bus in Mumbai dashed other vehicles at Kurla Bhaji Market. The tragedy occurred on December 9 around 9.30 p.m. The bus driver claimed the brakes failed and rammed into the other vehicles and people. The bus rammed into at least 20 to 25 vehicles (autorickshaws, bikes, vans) and several people on S.G. Barve Marg, Kurla West. The bus was proceeding to Saki Naka from Kurla railway station. The accused bus driver, identified as Sanjay More, was arrested the following day.

On the night of 9th December, a horrifying incident unfolded on the busy streets of Mumbai. A bus driver lost control, causing a deadly crash that left six people dead and 49 others severely injured. The tragedy occurred around 9:45 pm in the Kurla (West) area, near the bustling Kurla market. The electric bus, on route number 332, was traveling from Kurla Railway Station (West) towards Sakinaka. The tragic incident was caught on camera. The video shows the electric bus speeding uncontrollably through the streets. The bus brushed past parked vehicles, sparking chaos on the roads. Ramming into over two dozen vehicles—including auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers, and even a police jeep, the bus left a trail of destruction. The bus then crashed into the gates of an apartment building, bringing the madness to a halt. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, but tragically, six lives were lost, and dozens more were injured. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced ₹ 5 lakh financial assistance for the families of each victim. The BEST, the bus service provider, will cover the treatment costs for the injured. The driver, identified as Sanjay More, was arrested and charged with culpable homicide.
In the investigation of the Kurla BEST bus accident, the police found that bus driver Sanjay More began operating the electric bus on December 1 of this year, and it was new to him. However, driver More has been driving heavy vehicles since 1991 and holds a valid license to operate heavy vehicles, including buses, since that time. More, a resident of Aslfa village at Ghatkopar, was arrested by the Kurla police. He has 33 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles. BEST bus service has been suspended since morning after last night incident.
