Lukla is a town in the Khumbu area of the Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of north-eastern Nepal. Situated at 2,860 metres (9,383 ft), it is a popular place for visitors to the Himalayas near Mount Everest to arrive. Although Lukla means place with many goats and sheep, few are found in the area these days.
Lukla contains a small airport servicing the region, and a variety of shops and lodges catering to tourists and trekkers, providing western-style meals and trail supplies.
From Lukla, travellers will take two days to reach Namche Bazaar, both an interesting village and an altitude acclimatization stop for those continuing on.
In August 2014, the Nepalese government announced plans to open the first tarmac road from Kathmandu to Lukla.
Lukla is served by the Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Weather permitting, twin-engined Dornier Do 228s and de Havilland Canada Twin Otters make frequent daylight flights between Lukla and Kathmandu. Lukla Airport has a very short and steep airstrip, often compounded by hazardous weather, resulting in several fatal accidents. It has been called the most dangerous airport in the world.<ref name=World's Most Dangerous Airports>"World's Most Dangerous Airports". Retrieved 2011-03-25. </ref>
Nepal (i/nəˈpɔːl/;Nepali: नेपाल [neˈpal]), officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country located in South Asia. With an area of 147,181 square kilometres (56,827 sq mi) and a population of approximately 27 million, Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by area and the 41st most populous country. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by China and to the south, east, and west by India. Nepal is separated from Bangladesh by the narrow Indian Siliguri Corridor and from Bhutan by the Indian state of Sikkim. Kathmandu is the nation's capital city and largest metropolis.
The mountainous north of Nepal has eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest (Nepali: सगरमाथा Sagarmāthā). More than 250 peaks over 20,000 ft (6,096 m) above sea level are located in Nepal. The southern Terai region is fertile and humid.
Hinduism is practiced by about 81.3% of Nepalis, the highest percentage of any country. Buddhism is linked historically with Nepal and is practiced by 9% of its people, followed by Islam at 4.4%, Kiratism 3.1%, Christianity 1.4%, and animism 0.4%. A large portion of the population, especially in the hill region, may identify themselves as both Hindu and Buddhist, which can be attributed to the syncretic nature of both faiths in Nepal.

A one hour documentary of the trek to Everest Base Camp. From touring the city of Kathmandu to flying into Lukla and hiking the almost 100 miles round trip to base camp. Special thanks to Unique Path Trekking & Expedition and our guides and porters, Babu, Suresh, Arjun, Gunta & Mila. The music was provided by "The Gandharbas of Kathmandu" from the CD "From the mountains to the city." They were the house band at the Northfield Cafe in Kathmandu... great salads!!
At one point, Lukla airport was the most dangerous airport in the world. It is a gateway to the Himalayas and anyone planning to see Mount Everest would have to experience flying through here. This was taken on the last day of my trip to see Mount Everest in Namche Bazaar. So I took a video when our plane was about to take off from the runway with a steep slope in the mountain. Another tick to my bucket list for my gap year world trip. For those seeking adventure action and adrenalin rush, this is definitely a must-try in a World Travel.

October 16 -18, 2012. Part One of our trek in the Mt Everest Region of Nepal. We took an afternoon flight from Kathmandu to the village of Lukla, which has the only airport in the region. Landing at Lukla is a dramatic event....but that's another story. Our first day trekking took us through several villages on a level and slightly downhill trail to Phakding, where we spent the night. The next day we crossed the Dudh Kosi river five times and then made a steep climb up to the large and well-known village of Namche Bazaar. Our next day was a rest day, but quite memorable, thanks to a short hike to the ridge above town to get our first glimpse of 8000+ meter peaks of Everest and Lhotse, along with the lesser summits of Nuptse and Ama Dablam. (Note: for best viewing, set the quality t...
Our full living on a dollar a day in Nepal documentary. Subscribe to our channel and email subscribe on our website http://thetickettotravel.com to keep close tabs on what's going on. We filmed from July 17th-August 17th, 2015. Another Day, Another Dollar documentary was intended not as much as a look into life on a dollar a day, as much as a showcase on how to be content on less, and how life is like for us and others in Nepal. The documentary was originally divided in 4 parts, uploaded in November 2015, with a total time of about 45 minutes. The Rules So we came from the angle of already living here, not starting fresh. Locals living on very little already have a home, basic resources, maybe a bicycle or a motorbike for the family. Before we embarked on this challenge, we had to se...

After ending Everest base Camp Trekking, we flew from Lukla to Kathmandu flight. During the flight took a little video of the whole (taking off at Lukla and landing at Katmandu Airport), the flight time about 37 minutes. The flight offers the great and beautiful scenery of Nepal Himalayas, Rivers, Hills, waterfalls. Lukla flight gives an adventure experience as well.
Trek organised by http://www.mountainramadventures.com , Everest base camp trekking in Nepal from Jiri trail was taken by Tenzing and Hilary to climb Mount Everest in 1953, and We did Everest base camp Trek and Kalapather trek taking the same trail in December 2014 with a group of friends/clients from Canada, Australia, UK and Ireland. We were planning to do all three passes trek, Everest base camp, Kalapather, Gokyo trek but it was snowing for 2 days so the passes got closed then we turn to do only Everest base camp and Kalapatther from the normal route. Trekking in the Everest region starts either from the town of Jiri, accessible from Kathmandu by bus or private jeep, or from Lukla, a short flight from Kathmandu. If you have a limited amount of time, then it is best to fly into Lukl...
