This is the limited edition Steampunk version of the Devon Tread 1. The Steampunk model has a new case style with bronze elements, screws, and rivets. Very cool and a new steampunk look as compared to the ultra modern original Tread 1 model.
The piece has a special exclusive electronic mechanical movement with uses belts driven by small motors to tell the time. The battery lasts about 2-3 weeks and this model indicates the hours, minutes, and seconds.
Devon's Tread 1 Steampunk will be limited to just 150 pieces and retails for about $25,000.

Devon (
/ˈdɛvən/) is a large county in southwestern England. The county is sometimes referred to as Devonshire, although it has never been officially "shired" and that use often indicates a traditional or historical context. Nowadays, "Devonshire" is mostly a demonym.
The county shares borders with Cornwall to the west and Dorset and Somerset to the east. Its southern coast abuts the English Channel and its northern coast the Bristol Channel and Celtic Sea. The name "Devon" derives from the ancient Dumnonia, which was home to the independent kingdom of Brythonic Celtic speaking people who inhabited this area of the southwestern peninsula of Britain continuously from through the Roman era until partial absorption into the English-speaking Kingdom of Wessex some time in the eighth or ninth century, with some emigration to the sister Kingdom of Domnonee in Brittany taking place.
Devon is the fourth largest of the English counties by area and has a population of 1,141,600 making it the 11th most populous. The county town is the cathedral city of Exeter. In addition to Devon County Council, the county contains two unitary authorities (independent from Devon County Council's control): the port city of Plymouth and Torbay, a conurbation of seaside resorts. Plymouth is also the largest city in Devon. Much of the county is rural (including national park) land, with a low population density by British standards. It contains Dartmoor 954 km2 (368 sq mi), the largest open space in southern England. It is the only English county to have two separate coastlines – a north and southern coastline.

John Brzenk (born July 15, 1964) is a professional armwrestler from the United States. He competes in the Professional Armwrestling League, and as of 2009 is the number-one armwrestler in the world. John was named by the Guinness Book of World Records as the "Greatest Armwrestler of All Time"
John Brzenk's father was an arm wrestler and John says he gained some of his forearm size through genetics. He arm wrestled across tables in school for about five years. When he was in eighth grade, he broke his arm while armwrestling a friend of his father. When he was 16 years old he participated in his first tournament.
John Brzenk won his first world title on ABC's 1983 Wide World of Sports when he was 18 years old. His right forearm is 16 inches in circumference, and his left is 13.5 inches. The heaviest opponent he faced weighed 660 lbs, whom he defeated. John has lost a supermatch only once, and only a handful of people have beaten him (including his brother, Bill). The most noted of them are Devon Larratt and Alexey Voyevoda. Aside from arm wrestling, he works as a mechanic at Delta Air Lines. He says the job is non-physical so his arms get plenty of rest. He makes $13,000 to $15,000 a year arm wrestling.

Plot: Wade Mann, is convinced that the independently wealthy lifestyle is the life for him. Joined by his drinking buddies, and financed by his mother, they open Global Future, an office for marketing environmentally friendly products. Ads in the local paper entice tree-huggers to an interview that quickly turns into a pyramid pitch. One such ad brings in Dave Dodge, a man who walks the fine line between genius and insane. Soon, Wade is inundated by Dave and his followers, a modern-day drum circle. The two worlds and collide as the business spirals down and the drums rise up. With its original musical sense and a visual style all of its own, Naked Nerve Endings will make you filthy rich, just sign on the dotted line. The project started when director Lance Lindahl encountered an African Drum Circle. He had thoughts of a script about pyramid scheme and random people coming in off of ads in the newspaper. Merging the concept with the drum circle gatherings, he began to develop the story of Wade Mann, a mid twenties man who leaps for the chance on a get rich quick scheme. They buy a desk, chairs, and office supplies, as well as the over priced environmental friendly products to get him his mother and his best friend Tony started in the business. After running ads, they draw in Dave Dodge, the stories antagonists. Davis is a nine-year member and seven year director of Stomp! He brings a great style of acting as well as original music from both him and the drummers. So Davis' character attends the so-called interview, and jokes at the opportunity of riches, but insists he and his followers shall perform drum circles in the back room of the office. Wade, under pressure gives in, and the back room of the office turns into a meeting of all the local area hippies involved in the drumming. You either sell soap or make it. The project was shot on 24p with one of the best cinematographers in the mini-dv generation. Erik Murphy has shot nine features with this being the summation of his intuitive camera work.

The piece has a special exclusive electronic mechanical movement with uses belts driven by small motors to tell the time. The battery lasts about 2-3 weeks and this model indicates the hours, minutes, and seconds.
Devon's Tread 1 Steampunk will be limited to just 150 pieces and retails for about $25,000.

This week I'm in Barnstaple in North Devon. Not only is Barnstaple a great place to drive past on the way to a holiday in Devon, it can also be an interesting place to visit. Of all the places I have visited in the UK, Barnstaple is defintely one of them. This week I'm in Devon in the coastal town of Woolacombe. It may sound like a mental name for a town and in fact it is, the literal meaning of Woolacombe is Wool-a-combe. The town was built years ago by the Normans, a local family run building contractor managed by Martin Norman. Ringling Museum Complex, The South West Coast Path is England's longest waymarked long-distance footpath (and one of the longest in the UK) and a National Trail. Tour of the Devon House
Great to experience some local culture after a day of travel and logistic checks in Kingston. We went as a group to the Devon House. The Devon House was built by the very first black Jamaican millionaire. Working hard and investing in mining allowed this to happen in the 1800s. The house is beautifully restored to show the times with many antiques from that era. Great tour guide, another fun bus ride and great ice cream made it a memorable event after a long day of travel. -

Of all the places I have visited in the UK, Barnstaple is defintely one of them. On average, Barnstaple's population of three and a half thousand spends more each year on pasties per head than their counterparts in Bideford do in less than half that time.
And Barnstaple is a great place to shop. Before I visited the indoor market here I didn't even know what a pannier was, in fact after spending a good half hour shopping at the Pannier Market I still don't but I did manage to buy some decorative birds of England place mats and a copy of Deep Impact on VHS.
Despite what you might think, it's not all illegal street drug taking and unemployment here, there's also fun things to do like postmen and clocks. You could also visit the elegantly designed North Devon Leisure Centre and try your hand at table tennis or table golf. For the more educated there's the Barnstaple and North Devon Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon.
Getting to Barnstaple is easy, I traveled here in my car and you can do the same, just give me a bit of notice as I need my car for work. The museum is completely free to visit for both adults and children and at times the local tourist board even offer cash incentives to encourage tourists to the visit.

Later, as the town's fame spread, it was popular with the crème de la crème of Victorian society. Renowned for its healthful climate, the town earned the nickname of the English Riviera and favourable comparisons to Montpellier.
Torquay was the home of the writer Agatha Christie, who was born in the town and lived there during her early years. The town contains an "Agatha Christie Mile", a tour with plaques dedicated to her life and work.
Torquay has numerous tourist attractions, including Kents Cavern, Britain's most important Stone Age site, which was home to early man for some 40,000 years. The floor is composed of several strata, with remains indicating the prehistoric coexistence there of humans and now-extinct animals. The Rev. J. McEnery explored the cave between 1825 and 1829 and put forth the coexistence theory. The cave was extensively explored from 1865 to 1880 by William Pengelly, who found evidence to support McEnery's hypothesis. The caves have attracted many famous people, among them Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, King George V and Haile Selassie who was so impressed with his visit that he gave his guide, Leslie Powe a gold sovereign.
On the seafront between the Rock Walk and the Marina is the Victorian Pavilion pictured above. The adjacent "Friends Fountain" complements the Victorian architecture.

In the 2011 UK Census, Torquay's population was 65,245, about half of that of the whole of Torbay.
The town's economy, like Brixham's, was initially based upon fishing and agriculture, but in the early 19th century the town began to develop into a fashionable seaside resort, initially frequented by members of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars while the Royal Navy anchored in the bay. Later, as the town's fame spread, it was popular with the crème de la crème of Victorian society. Renowned for its healthful climate, the town earned the nickname of the English Riviera and favourable comparisons to Montpellier.
Torquay was the home of the writer Agatha Christie, who was born in the town and lived there during her early years. The town contains an "Agatha Christie Mile", a tour with plaques dedicated to her life and work.
Torquay has numerous tourist attractions, including Kents Cavern, Britain's most important Stone Age site, which was home to early man for some 40,000 years. The floor is composed of several strata, with remains indicating the prehistoric coexistence there of humans and now-extinct animals. The Rev. J. McEnery explored the cave between 1825 and 1829 and put forth the coexistence theory. The cave was extensively explored from 1865 to 1880 by William Pengelly, who found evidence to support McEnery's hypothesis. The caves have attracted many famous people, among them Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, King George V and Haile Selassie who was so impressed with his visit that he gave his guide, Leslie Powe a gold sovereign.
On the seafront between the Rock Walk and the Marina is the Victorian Pavilion pictured above. The adjacent "Friends Fountain" complements the Victorian architecture.

Having spent a lot of my own childhood down in Clovelly, Devon throughout the summer months each year, I thought I'd put together a video highlighting just some of the breathtaking views that this and many villages a long the North Devon Coast have to offer.

Trip Description: Devon Experience with EcoMind Travel!
(Day 1) TOTNES TRANSITION TOUR
Guided visit of the town with a member of the Transition Town organization:
- Embark in a journey of the history of the Transition Movement and Totnes.
- Visit some of the captivating community gardens in the area.
- Explore the methodology and background behind the fascinating local breweries of the town.
- And to finish off, taste a local meal at one of the town’s pubs with a chance to enjoy some live music or dancing.
(Day 2 & 3) HIKING IN DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK – 10 miles (16 km) each day
During these two days we will explore the hidden gems of Dartmoor National Park:
- Our guided hike (with a member of Dartmoor Walks this Way) will start besides the River Dart, at New Bridge (10 miles from Totnes).
- We will walk above the river gorge along an old carriage drive as far as Sharp Tor.
- We’ll then continue over a series of hills alongside the East Dart valley to Bellever. Here we’ll stop and rest to be ready for the next day!
(Next Day)
- After a good night’s sleep, we’ll trek onto the high moor, past the beautiful Fernworthy Reservoir.
- This will then lead us onto some high tors from which we’ll be able to admire some of the most stunning views of Dartmoor.
- One of the highlights of the day will be visiting part of Dartmoor’s copious Bronze Age legacy: standing stones, burial sites, a stone circle, etc. (Dartmoor boasts of having the largest Bronze Age legacy in the UK!)

Since it rises and falls with every river mouth, it is also one of the more challenging trails. The total height climbed has been calculated to be 114,931 ft (35,031 m), almost four times the height of Mount Everest.[1]

Great to experience some local culture after a day of travel and logistic checks in Kingston. We went as a group to the Devon House. The Devon House was built by the very first black Jamaican millionaire. Working hard and investing in mining allowed this to happen in the 1800s. The house is beautifully restored to show the times with many antiques from that era. Great tour guide, another fun bus ride and great ice cream made it a memorable event after a long day of travel.

Taken by (I think) my Dad on Saturday 27th May 1972, this short film is the start of our Whitsun week holiday to Devon. It shows, at the beginning, a very awkward me at 7-and-a-bit years old and then various scenes around Kensington Olympia station including our train loco D1027 "Western Lancer" coupling up to the carriages and then reversing onto the Motorail car transporter wagons. Then follows a few scenes along the Dawlish coast, more ‘me’ shots and round the curve into Teignmouth station. If anyone has any timings for this train (1V64?) it would be much appreciated. -
