A fly into Mombasa. I see the giant tusks, see a Hindu Temple, visit the old slave market, now a spice market and then take a trip on the ferry.
Kenya, with its numerous natural wonders gives a tourist the joy of a seaside holiday and the thrills of a safari. One can sit in the shade of a palm tree and swim in the emerald green water of the Indian Ocean, which runs out to the white, sandy beaches. We can take a look at Mombasa, most important port of Eastern Africa, the city of the Tusk Gate and the Jesus Fort. How about a typical African safari to Tsavo? Naturally, in the meantime we can meet elephants, lions, giraffes and dolphins. We can marvel at the 13th century city of Gedi. We can take a boat trip among the coral reefs of the sea national parks, or be amazed by the war dance of the Masai people, and can have a dinner at a coral cave.

The Cheops Pyramid, the world’s largest single construction, took four hundred thousand workers twenty years to build. It weighs as much as all the cathedrals in Europe put together and spans an area of 53,000 square metres - the height of a fifty storey skyscraper. In the middle of today’s modern city of Luxor, known as the ‘Capital City Of The Pharaohs’, the Luxor Temple stretches along the eastern banks of the Nile and, not far away, the temple complex of Karnak and the Amun Temple. 67 kilometres from Luxor, on the western bank of the Nile, lies the Temple Of Dendera, the most important place of worship for the love goddess, HATHOR, whose heavenly appearance was portrayed by the body of a cow. At Aswan, the landscape of the Nile is enchanting, but it is the stone temples of Abu Simbel that take one back to ancient Egypt, land of the Pharaohs, and archaeological paradise.

Reality travel vlog. The most adventurous, fun and exciting train journey of my life. The train is very old, it is not plush as I'm sure it once was, the toilets leave a lot to be desired, the crockery in the dining/ breakfast car is plastic except for the tea cups, saucers, and the odd silver butter dish (containing margarine!) and honestly the food is not great. However, the train staff are helpful, hospitable and accommodating, the bar is basic, but well-stocked and fairly inexpensive for tourists, fellow travellers will somehow be unforgettable, the sheets and blankets are freshly laundered, the early morning views and sunset if you catch it are amazing, and most of all it's 14 hours (yep) of travelling history. The train interior is all original, the compartment beds, hand basins, choo lav (!!), doors, handles, fans, fixtures and fittings. I find this extraordinary. I guess it's not for everybody, but it is for the adventurous, robust and easy going traveller who has a good sense of humour.

Mombasa is the second-largest city in Kenya. Lying next to the Indian Ocean, it has a major port and an international airport. The city also serves as the centre of the coastal tourism industry.
Also known as Mombas in colonial times, its name derives from Manbasa. This was the Arabic name of the former sultanate of Mvita, which had its capital here. In modern times the town is the headquarters of Mombasa District, which, like most other districts in Kenya, is named after its chief town.
The city has a population of 939,370, as per the 2009 census,[citation needed] and is located on Mombasa Island, which is separated from the mainland by two creeks: Tudor Creek and Kilindini Harbour. The island is connected to the mainland to the north by the Nyali Bridge, to the south by the Likoni Ferry and to the west by the Makupa Causeway, alongside which runs the Kenya-Uganda Railway. The port serves both Kenya and countries of the interior, linking them to the Ocean. The city is served by Moi International Airport located in the northwest mainland suburb of Chaani, northwest of Changamwe area.

Mombasa District is one of the 71 districts of Kenya. Its capital and the only town is Mombasa.
Kenya is divided into eight provinces, which are subdivided into 71 districts. In Coast Province there are seven districts, Mombasa District being one of them. It is situated in the southeast of Coast Province. It is the smallest in size covering an area of 294.6 km² including 65 km² of inshore waters. The district lies between latitudes 3°56’ and 4°10’ south of the equator and longitudes 39°34’ and 39°46’ east.

Mombasa District lies within the coast lowland, which rises gradually from the sea level in the east to slightly over 76 m above sea level in the mainland west. The highest point is at Nguu Tatu hills in the mainland North that rises up to 100 m above sea level.

Night Train to Mombasa (Travel vlog)
Reality travel vlog. The most adventurous, fun and exciting train journey of my life. The train is very old, it is not plush as I'm sure it once was, the toilets leave a lot to be desired, the crockery in the dining/ breakfast car is plastic except for the tea cups, saucers, and the odd silver butter dish (containing margarine!) and honestly the food is not great. However, the train staff are helpful, hospitable and accommodating, the bar is basic, but well-stocked and fairly inexpensive for tourists, fellow travellers will somehow be unforgettable, the sheets and blankets are freshly laundered, the early morning views and sunset if you catch it are amazing, and most of all it's 14 hours (yep) of travelling history. The train interior is all original, the compartment beds, hand basins, cho... -

MOMBASA VACATION
Mombasa is an island in Kenya so beautiful beyond any imagination. It is also the gateway to Kenya and a tourist destination that attracts tourist from all over the world. To the south it is linked by ferries, very safe with no history of any calamity and in the north by Nyali bridge. I work in the USA but this is my vacation choice every summer for the last seven years. It is relaxing, delicious Swahili food, great people, rich history and culture. Fort Jesus takes you down the memory lane with great history. There beaches in north and south coast and great five star hotels. Other areas of great interest along the coastal belt are Mtwapa, kilifi,and Malindi. -
Foreign Tourists Exit Mombasa Over Travel Advisories
The insecurity tag continued to haunt the country with the tourism industry raising alarm over a possible loss of 5 billion shillings in revenues between now and October occasioned by the mass exodus of tourists at the Coast. The exit by foreign nationals was sparked off by travel advisories issued by western countries over increased threats of terror in specific parts of the country. For the second day running the Moi international airport in Mombasa was a beehive of activity as more tourists cut short their holidays leaving most hotels empty. -

Mombasa is an island in Kenya so beautiful beyond any imagination. It is also the gateway to Kenya and a tourist destination that attracts tourist from all over the world. To the south it is linked by ferries, very safe with no history of any calamity and in the north by Nyali bridge. I work in the USA but this is my vacation choice every summer for the last seven years. It is relaxing, delicious Swahili food, great people, rich history and culture. Fort Jesus takes you down the memory lane with great history. There beaches in north and south coast and great five star hotels. Other areas of great interest along the coastal belt are Mtwapa, kilifi,and Malindi.

I certainly hope Hans Zimmer and Christopher Nolan include the whole performance in the Inception DVD! I suspect it will be released (the dvd of the movie) in December 2010 (that's when the Dark Knight dvd was released).
