Network Marketing Professional Do you want to know 2 things that we can all do to look more professional as network marketers? Think about this, if we act more professional, we will look more professional and if we look more professional we get recognized as a profession. When that happens we will ALL have a better chance at earning like a professional. Acting professional in network marketing is not about wearing a suit to a meeting and making sure that you have a firm handshake. There's more to it than presentation. It's how you carry yourself. Here are 2 things that we can all do to act, look and earn more like a professional. 1. Learn how to take "no" for an answer. Network Marketers ranking in popularity is about as high as telemarketers and used car salesmen and it's because we have a reputation of being annoying and nagging people to join our business. I won't spend too much time on this. I've made several videos and blog posts about qualifying people instead of convincing people to join our team. "I know that you weren't planning on starting a business but you gotta join this business with me. You owe me. Remember when I help you move?" Imagine if a realtor tried to guilt people their warm market. "I know that you weren't planning on moving but you gotta let me sell your house. You owe me. Remember when I helped you move?" It sounds ridiculous doesn't it? If a realtor did that, then they would look unprofessional. Some people just don't want to sell their home and a realtor is ok with that. They will find someone that DOES want to sell their home. Some people won't be interested in our product, service or business and as professionals we should be ok with that. We need to move on and find someone that IS interested. 2. Stop the "holier than thou" attitude. If you go around telling people that their job sucks, you don't look smart, you look like jerk. I had to block some people on facebook because they were so negative, they give our profession of network marketing a bad name. They regularly had status updates that looked like this: "If you are working a job, you aren't working towards your dreams." "If you are working a job, you are helping your bosses dreams come true." "I'm working towards getting residual income, I hope you aren't working a job today." These status updates turn people off and no one listens to them. I know that nobody was listening to those status updates because his timeline had many of these "holier than thou" status updates with no likes, no share and no comments. In life it's more important to be kind than it is to be right. Not everyone can be an entrepreneur. Not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur. If you go around with a "I'm better than you attitude" then no one will want to buy products or services from you. They might buy the exact same product but if you are a jerk, they'll buy it from someone else. Remember: People do business with those they know, like and trust. So let's be nice! Imagine this You know when you are at a family get together and some says, "I got a job" and everyone is happy for them? They all say, "How wonderful! What is it? I'm so happy for you! You'll be great at it! You are gonna love it! What would happen today if someone said that about network marketing? "I started a network marketing business." "Oh, you mean one of those things?" "Isn't that a pyramid?" Imagine a world where network marketing is welcomed with open arms. "You picked a network marketing company to join? That's awesome! Which one?" "That's a great company. Y'know aunt Sally loves those products. You are gonna do great! You're gonna love it!" That world isn't a reality yet but it can happen if we start acting the part. Acceptance in network marketing is just about earning enough to be financially free. And "showing them" that you can do it. It's also about becoming successful in ways that aren't only ethical but also socially acceptable. Both nagging and having a "holier than thou" attitude are not socially acceptable. I know that there are more things that we collectively do to make our profession look more professional but this is a great start. What other things would you suggest?
