Amy Meredith Linker (born October 19, 1966) is an American former child actress. Her most notable role was on the 1982 television series Square Pegs, on which she co-starred as Lauren Hutchinson alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Linker's first major acting role was as Kelly Lewis in the short-lived television series Lewis & Clark, which ran for one season from 1981 to 1982. Shortly thereafter, Linker was cast as central character Lauren Hutchinson on the teen comedy/drama Square Pegs. Square Pegs told the story of two high school freshmen, Hutchinson and Patty Greene (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), and their at times desperate attempts to fit in and achieve popularity. Linker wore fake braces and a fatsuit in order to appear less stylish. Though a critical favorite, low ratings led to the show's cancellation after only one season.
After Square Pegs, Linker voiced the character of "Robin" on the animated Mister T series in 1983. After the show ended she enrolled in Wellesley College, graduating in 1989 with a degree in French studies.

We watched Patty and Lauren try to fit in at Weemawee High School in 1982. "Square Pegs" ran on CBS for one season. The series features Sarah Jessica Parker and Amy Linker, along with 80′s staple Jami Gertz as Muffy B. Tepperman. "Square Pegs" was acclaimed by critics at the time for its realistic and comic look at teenage life. The first two episodes of the series had strong ratings but plummeted shortly thereafter. According to a TV Guide article from June 9, 1984, the show failed because of the inexperience of its staff and drug use on the set.
Square Pegs is an American comedy series that aired on CBS during the 1982--1983 season. The series follows Patty Greene (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Lauren Hutchinson (Amy Linker), two awkward teenage girls desperate to fit in at Weemawee High School. Created by former Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts, the pilot introduces an eclectic group of eight freshmen on their first day at Weemawee High School. Most scenes were filmed in the abandoned Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California. Weemawee at first appears to be in a generic suburban American community. However, though the location is never stated outright, the plot often refers to events going on nearby in "The City", which is the universal New York metro reference to Manhattan.

This in an interview with Oliver Burkeman, author of "The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking". Oliver explores ideas around social psychology, self-help culture, productivity, and the science of happiness. His book helped me feel a lot more at peace about the “glass half empty” personality I’ve always had. It explains powerful concepts from Buddhism, Stoicism, Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts (and more) in Oliver’s entertaining, accessible, and lovely writing style. In this episode, we talk about: -Why traditional “positive thinking” doesn’t work -The downside of goal-setting -Embracing uncertainty -Meditation -Whether thinking too much makes you depressed -The answers he’s still looking for… -and more! From the Highly Sensitive Person Podcast: Daisy Gumin is an 18-year-old Highly Sensitive Person and introvert. She and her mother went through a harrowing year and a half of trying to figure out what was “wrong” with Daisy. She had been displaying destructive, angry, depressive, and self-harming behavior. She went through lots of therapy, medications, hospitalizations, attended a therapeutic boarding school, and even a wilderness therapy program (she was taken there in the middle of the night without knowing where she was going!) Throughout this time, she was diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and more. After all that, she and her mother discovered Dr. Elaine Aron’s book, The Highly Sensitive Person, and suddenly everything made sense. After so many misdiagnoses, they had found...
