In recent months, the County of Sacramento has been replacing some of there older Freightliner Condor Amrep Octos with these, Autocar ACX Labrie Automizer. This route was definitely an interesting one; with the driver taking many right turns and passing through streets, it made it difficult to keep up, even in a car. Even with the challenges, we ended up with a decent video.
You may also notice, that the county has begun making the switch to CNG, changing over from the LNG they have been using for years. The reason for change, CNG is easier and cheaper to purchase. They have also added a new CNG fueling station within the Sacramento County South Yard.

The Academic Decathlon is an academic competition open to high school students from all school districts in Sacramento County. On February 2, 2013, hundreds of students, teachers, and community volunteers gathered at Inderkum High School in Natomas for the 33rd Annual Sacramento County Academic Decathlon. This year's theme was "Russia."
During the event, student decathletes participated as a 9 member team against other schools. The most exciting and visual part of the competition is a high-energy team event called the Super Quiz, which is open to the public. Teams of students are seated at desks on a gymnasium floor and answer questions posed by a moderator. The correct answers are flashed on a large screen. Hundreds of fans sit in the bleachers look on and cheer loudly as if they were watching an athletic competition.

Sacramento County is a county in the U.S. state of California. Its county seat is Sacramento, which is also the state capital. As of 2010 the county had a population of 1,418,788.
The Greater Sacramento metropolitan area consists of eight counties with Sacramento County being the largest. The County covers about 994 square miles (2,570 km2) in the middle of the California Central Valley, on into Gold Country. Sacramento County extends from the low delta lands between the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River north to about ten miles (16 km) beyond the State Capitol and east into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The southmost portion of Sacramento County has direct access to San Francisco Bay.
Sacramento County was one of the original counties of California, which were created in 1850 at the time of statehood.
The county was named after the Sacramento River, which forms its western border. The river was named by Spanish cavalry officer Gabriel Moraga for the Santisimo Sacramento (Most Holy Sacrament), referring to the Catholic Eucharist.

In recent months, the County of Sacramento has been replacing some of there older Freightliner Condor Amrep Octos with these, Autocar ACX Labrie Automizer. This route was definitely an interesting one; with the driver taking many right turns and passing through streets, it made it difficult to keep up, even in a car. Even with the challenges, we ended up with a decent video.
You may also notice, that the county has begun making the switch to CNG, changing over from the LNG they have been using for years. The reason for change, CNG is easier and cheaper to purchase. They have also added a new CNG fueling station within the Sacramento County South Yard.

The most exciting and visual part of the competition is a high-energy team event called the Super Quiz, which is open to the public. Teams of students are seated at desks on a gymnasium floor and answer questions posed by a moderator. The correct answers are flashed on a large screen. The Sacramento County Poetry Out Loud competition encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. The program provides students with the opportunity to perform poetry in English classes. Modeled like the National Spelling Bee, the Poetry Out Loud program began in local high school classrooms, with winners advancing to school-wide, then regional competition. Mickie Enkoji has worked for more than 20 years as a journalist at daily newspapers in California including the Sacramento Bee, where she covered, among other things, criminal justice issues. She graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a degree in government-journalism. She is now a member of the United Auto Workers Local 2350
Claire White is the National Lawyers Guild, Student National Vice President. She is passionate about issues including veterans' rights, anti-war activism, prisoners' rights and prison reform, and constantly strives to build solidarity among social justice warriors of different stripes.
