At Milan Men's Fashion Week, FashionTV heads to shows like Dsquared2, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli, John Richmond, Etro, Vivienne Westwood, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Dolce & Gabbana. There's a colorful, fun back to school in the 60s vibe at Dsquared2, where the men throw spitballs and paper airplanes in the classroom before heading down the runway. Designer Angela Missoni wants to build a contemporary man's wardrobe for Missoni. "Men don't change, fashion for men doesn't change so what I want this season is on the classic English sportswear." Male model Sid Ellisdon opens the show for John Richmond in Milan. Richmond's typical rock & roll vibe went country as men paraded down the gilded catwalk in barn jackets, leather and equestrian boots. Roberto Cavalli had help from his son Daniele on this collection, which featured bold colors, although the theme was mystery in darkness. They were toned down in comparison to past collections and focused on the layers. One man band Son of Dave performed in the shadows. At Etro, designer Kean Etro spoke to the colorful print sensibility of the brand but mixed it with rich fabrics and embroideries for Fall including brocade, velvet, and feathers. Etro was inspired by the mythological creature Pegasus, a winged horse. The Vivienne Westwood show based on Arctic explorers of the 20th century, features male models with frostbite lips and icicles in their beards. Vivienne Westwood created the collection with her husband Andreas Kronthaler. Salvatore Ferragamo Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti created a rich collection for the brand that was inspired by an urban atmosphere with bold Fall fabrics like tweed and leather and colors like royal blue. The Ermenegildo Zegna show presents a business attire wardrobe that moves into a luxurious sportswear, according to designer Anne Zegna. Celebs like Bianca Balti and male supermodel David Gandy are in attendance for the Dolce & Gabbana show where the design duo present a dark, gothic collection with an opulent operatic feel. During Paris Men's Fashion Week, FashionTV makes an appearance at shows like Christian Lacroix Homme, Lanvin, John Galliano, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Dior Homme. Christian Lacroix was noticeably absent from the menswear runway until last season, when he came in quietly, according to German model Andre Feulner. This season, the Christian Lacroix Homme collection has bold looks like bright leathery reds and geometric color blocking. Lanvin designer Lucas Ossjendrijver focused on shapes and texture for his Fall 2012 collectoin, but kept up the pretty color palette of the French fashion house. Bill Gaytten's collection for John Galliano featured a cast of characters that included 1920s gangsters, aviators, and American sports stars. The Dries Van Noten collection featured loud prints and a white wall that was being painted as the collection was taking place. Of course, the cool structure and superb tailoring of a typical Van Noten was still apparent here. Kenzo's Carol Lim and Humberto Leon were inspired by Steve Jobs but focused on bright colors for the collection. Still, they honed in on his youth, playing up the sporty suit and vibrant atmosphere. Jean Paul Gaultier had a mix of refined pieces, urban chic, and rural country motifs. He also carried on with his tattooed print, a Gaultier specialty. Fedoras, fur, knitwear, and a brick print suit were part of the package, as was JPG muse Andrej Pejic, who made an appearance on the runway here. Christian Dior's Kris Van Assche brought out a structured aesthetic that focused on military and sport themes. This time, Van Assche didn't make tailoring a priority. Instead he brought out an aesthetic that focused on military and sporty themes. Trousers, oversize capes, army greens, and avian motifs were all part of the line.
