When somebody in modern times describes a new species, he is required to designate one specimen as a holotype. Usually type material is deposited to a museum to make it that way available for other scientists. These can loan a holotype either or need to visit the museum in order to study the specimen there.
I am the describer of the mite Bonomoia opuntiae. That's why it's very complete scientific name is "Bonomoia opuntiae Wirth, 2005". I just used its example in the film, because I am recently working on these mites again.
