Basil Dignam (24 October 1905 – 31 January 1979) was an English character actor.
Basil Dignam was born in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire. He acted on film and television between 1948 and 1978. He often appeared as an authority figure, such as a police officer, army general or peer.
He was married to actress Mona Washbourne. His brother Mark Dignam was also a professional actor. Basil Dignam died, aged 73, in Westminster, London.
Elizabeth R is a BBC television drama serial of six 85-minute plays starring Glenda Jackson in the title role. It was first broadcast on BBC2 from February to March 1971, through the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Australia and broadcast in America on PBS's Masterpiece Theatre.
Peter Jeffrey (18 April 1929 – 25 December 1999) was an English actor with many roles in television and film.
Jeffrey was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire, the son of Florence Alice (née Weight) and Arthur Winfred Gilbert Jeffrey. He was educated at Harrow School and Pembroke College, Cambridge but had no formal training as an actor.
After many years on stage with the Bristol Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company, he became a very familiar face to British television viewers. From 25 May 1966 he appeared in Tango, a play by Sławomir Mrożek at the Aldwych Theatre alongside Patience Collier, Mike Pratt, Ursula Mohan and Dudley Sutton under director Trevor Nunn.
Numerous television roles include two guest appearances in Doctor Who: as the Colony Pilot in The Macra Terror (1967) and as Count Grendel in The Androids of Tara (1978). It is reputed he had been offered the role of the lead character in the show by Innes Lloyd in 1966, but turned it down; Patrick Troughton was cast instead.

Shrapnel was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, the son of Mary Lillian Myfanwy (née Edwards) and journalist/author Norman Shrapnel.
Shrapnel was educated at the City of London School, an independent school for boys in the City of London, and Mile End School, Stockport, where he was first involved in acting as a member of the school Drama Society, followed by St Catharine's College at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained an M.A..
As a stage actor, Shrapnel was a member of Laurence Olivier's National Theatre Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company and most recently appeared as Sir Oliver Surface in The School for Scandal (directed by Deborah Warner) at the Barbican Centre in 2011.
Shrapnel has also appeared extensively on television in roles in Elizabeth R, Z-Cars, Edward and Mrs. Simpson, Space: 1999, Inspector Morse, Coogan's Run and Foyle's War. He presented an episode of the 1983 BBC television travel series Great Little Railways. He gave performances in three entries in the BBC Television Shakespeare plays and as Creon in the BBC's productions of the Three Theban plays (1986) of Sophocles. He also played Pompey in the second episode of Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire and the Jail Warden in The 10th Kingdom, an epic fantasy miniseries.
