I’m not articulate enough anymore (maybe I never was), to tell you how it is, so I’ll let this veteran do the talking for me…
Happenstance Happenings…
My dog…in my truck. That could be the first sentence in dozens of great stories…a great final sentence too. He loves to go “bye-bye”. Always wondered how folks trained their dogs to ride in the back, mine has to be on the seat next to me. My driveway is about 250 yards down to road where the mailbox is. Grizzly considers it a complete fun filled adventure just driving down there and back. He’s like any other dog too, he fancies a bit of cat shit every now and then, and enjoys cleaning the groins of the other dogs after they take a piss.
This is where I’m at right now, reminds me of a blend of Garry Johnson Oi! poetry and the band D and V…Found this comment on Youtube from some guy named Dominic Goodchild, “As Nina Simone put it: “An artist’s duty, as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times.” That is why I consider Sleaford Mods to be relevant. Who gives a fuck if it’s a bit stripped back? Just because it’s not gushing with hacky stadium rock guitar solos, egotistical vocal wanking and the rest of it means nothing. The fact is that they are raw and original, which is hard to come by amongst contemporaries. It’s fair enough that their sound might do nothing for certain people, but you can’t deny that they deliver something that is pure.”
Killer vid…Killer tune
Not sure what to call this tune, some kind of a brutal hardcore industrial rap hybrid. I haven’t listed to any of their other tunes, but it’s my understanding that this one is different from what they usually do, like 80s, so-called metal bands doing a ballad (but this ain’t no ballad)…
Death Grips – No Love
A little known fact about Mustard, I’ve been a Hendrix fan since my Mom played me her double live bootleg of his last show in LA, at the Forum. I was just a wee lad, since then collecting his records. This is supposedly some rare video of him…
Wiz Khalifa ft. Chevy Woods and Neako – Reefer Party
Don’t care what side you stand on, with all these idiots running to rule this country, but that’s some funny shit. In case you don’t see it check those two guys on the bottom right. Always wanted to be “that” guy, behind someone getting interviewed on TV, stealing the scene…what do they call it now, photobombing? This one made me forget for a minute how pessimistic I am, not unhappy, necessarily, more like resigned. The everlasting funk of sorts, the mannequin you see out of the corner of your eye. Art is the only thing that matters and those two guys there, are artists.
On a different tip, yet somehow related in the sense that all the leaders and wannabe leaders of the world should sit down and collectively take a bong hit. I admit I inhaled a time or two, that was quite a while ago, but I am a non-practicing, believer in what Mr. Wiz Khalifa is preaching…
Beastie Boys – SNL
Obasquiat and Dancing Deadlips in Free Sonic Explorations – Urban Astronauts
Small world time here at the Relics, with two bands I’ve reviewed before (separate and independent of each other), Obasquiat (Brazil) and Dancing Deadlips (Poland), doing a collaboration of sorts. Marco, of Obasquait, didn’t give a lot details other than this is “new material, recorded in partnership with the project Dancing Deadlips”, so I’m guessing this was a virtual affair unless folks were hoping on planes. Of Obasquait, I’ve been known to say, “a bunch of seriously talented folks, coming together and getting a massive otherworldly jam on,” while of Dancing Deadlips, I’ve pointed out that, “I see myself sitting on another planet surrounded by strange sights and sounds, listening as a story unfolds.” So I guess, imagine, an alloy of the two, jammy, dreamy…I just love Dee’s voice. Anyway, this seems to be part of a bigger collaboration that will be an upcoming album “The Mindness”…
