East Boldre
Coordinates: 50°48′04″N 1°28′15″W / 50.8011°N 1.4707°W / 50.8011; -1.4707
East Boldre is a linear village and civil parish situated near Lymington, Hampshire, England. East Boldre is surrounded by the New Forest and forms part of the district of New Forest.
The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St. Paul and there is a baptist chapel which was founded in 1810. There is a traditional local pub, The Turfcutters Arms, and a post office. The parish includes the adjoining hamlet of East End.
History
People have lived in the East Boldre area since prehistoric times. Over thirty Bronze Age barrows lie within the parish boundaries.
The village of East Boldre was originally a straggling hamlet and was known as Beaulieu Rails. This earlier name reflected the fact that the settlement had grown up along the wooden railings defining the western boundary of the Manor and parish of Beaulieu. The residents were described in a parliamentary report in 1834 as "for the most part smugglers and deer-stealers."

Boldre is a village and civil parish in the New Forest district of Hampshire. It is situated inside the New Forest National Park borders, near the Lymington River, and is about two miles (3 km) north of Lymington. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 1,931.
Description
The present boundaries of the parish enclose an area of 7,718 acres (31.23 km2) and include the hamlets of Battramsley, Sandy Down, Pilley, Bull Hill, Norley Wood, Portmore, South Baddesley, and Walhampton. Boldre has a church, St John the Baptist, Boldre Club which is one of the oldest surviving clubs in the forest, a pub called the Red Lion, a Church of England School on Pilley Hill called William Gilpin after the Vicar of the Church and the old school house (located on Boldre Lane) and a Post Office. The post box can still be seen today, and the school is now a house with a plaque outside.
A hundred years ago, W.H. Hudson described the countryside north of Lymington around the villages of Pilley and Boldre in Hampshire Days as 'a land of secret, green, out-of-the-world places.' Today it contains large homes and is much more accessible, but remains largely unspoilt.

The ideas in this film are subject to "official" approvals and planning permission, so if your want to get involved in making this an amazing building, get in touch: ebvillagehall@gmail.com The new concept includes an upgraded theatre, a new community shop, school bus stop, new changing rooms, a new function /meeting room. All of this will incorporate a historical theme, all about how the building used to be part of one of the first ever flying schools in the UK, and then a WW1 aerodrome. My route then takes me North along farm tracks to Dilton Farm and then West through the wonderful Roydon Woods Nature Reserve. This is another video in my series “New Forest Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I visit the pretty village of Boldre (about 2 miles North of Lymington in the South of the New Forest(.
I start off by exploring the St John the Baptist Church which has a fascinating connection with HMS Hood (the battleship that was sunk by the German battleship Bismark with the loss of 1415 crew. My route then takes me North along farm tracks to Dilton Farm and then West through the wonderful Roydon Woods Nature Reserve. After crossing the Lymington River and viewing Roydon Manor, I head back South to Boldre village to see the Perkins Piece Wheelbed & Red Lion pub before crossing the river again & returning to my starting point at the church. The walk was around 4.5 miles long.

Here's are some exciting ideas for the East Boldre Village Hall in the New Forest. A fantastic COMMUNITY HUB hub built into the old WW1 airfield's Officers Mess building.
The ideas in this film are subject to "official" approvals and planning permission, so if your want to get involved in making this an amazing building, get in touch: ebvillagehall@gmail.com
The new concept includes an upgraded theatre, a new community shop, school bus stop, new changing rooms, a new function /meeting room.
All of this will incorporate a historical theme, all about how the building used to be part of one of the first ever flying schools in the UK, and then a WW1 aerodrome.

East Boldre is a linear village and civil parish situated near Lymington, Hampshire, England. East Boldre is surrounded by the New Forest and forms part of the district of New Forest.
The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St. Paul and there is a baptist chapel which was founded in 1810. There is a traditional local pub, The Turfcutters Arms, and a post office. The parish includes the adjoining hamlet of East End.
History
People have lived in the East Boldre area since prehistoric times. Over thirty Bronze Age barrows lie within the parish boundaries.
The village of East Boldre was originally a straggling hamlet and was known as Beaulieu Rails. This earlier name reflected the fact that the settlement had grown up along the wooden railings defining the western boundary of the Manor and parish of Beaulieu. The residents were described in a parliamentary report in 1834 as "for the most part smugglers and deer-stealers."
