Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away".
The first film in the series, Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope), was released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans, compared to the original trilogy. All seven films were nominated for or won Academy Awards, and were commercial successes, with a combined box office revenue of $4.38 billion, making Star Wars the fourth highest-grossing film series. The series has spawned an extensive media franchise—the Star Wars expanded universe—including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books, resulting in significant development of the series's fictional universe. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Records title for the "Most successful film merchandising franchise." In 2012, the total value of the Star Wars franchise was estimated at USD $30.7 billion, including box-office receipts as well as profits from their video games and DVD sales.
Separatism is the advocacy of a state of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender separation from the larger group. While it often refers to full political secession, separatist groups may seek nothing more than greater autonomy. While some critics may equate separatism with religious segregation, racist segregation, or sexist segregation, most separatists argue that separation by choice is not the same as government-enforced segregation and may serve useful purposes. French separatists are mainly found in Quebec, Canada, and their goal is to save the French language from disappearing from Quebec, so they wish to completely separate from Canada, a bad English speaking influence.
Groups may have one or more motivations for separation, including:
South Asia or Southern Asia is a term used to represent the southern region of the Asian continent, which comprises the sub-Himalayan SAARC countries and, for some authorities, adjoining countries to the west and east. Topographically, it is dominated by the Indian Plate, which rises above sea level as Nepal and northern parts of India situated south of the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush. South Asia is bounded on the south by the Indian Ocean and on land (clockwise, from west) by West Asia, Central Asia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. The terms "Indian subcontinent" and "South Asia" are sometimes used interchangeably.
The current territories of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka form the countries of South Asia. In addition, with deviating definitions based on often substantially different reasons, the British Indian Ocean Territory, Mauritius, and the Tibet Autonomous Region are included as well. South Asia is home to well over one fifth of the world's population, making it both the most populous and the most densely populated geographical region in the world. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation(SAARC) is an economic cooperation organisation in the region which was established in 1985 and includes all eight nations comprising South Asia.
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.

The simmering war in east Ukraine saw a large-scale escalation last weekend, with five Ukrainian soldiers killed and more than 20 wounded, after separatist militants tried to take over army positions. While fighting is picking up on the front, Jake Hanrahan visited the separatist Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) to see how the breakaway region is trying to establish government, and to meet the people living under their rule. The other day I went to babysit and read to the beautiful newborn child the article 'Time for more nations' by Casey B.Mulligan (economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/28/a-time-for-more-nations/). It appeared in the New York Times just after the victory of the separatist parties in Catalonia. For the first time in history the separatist hold a majority in the Catalan Parliament. One day they will be free from Spain.
Separatist is one of British Columbia's most scenic mountain bike trails with spectacular views of Lake Okanagan from the desert hills above Penticton. As a summer project Scott Spence and Chris Stenberg spent a few mornings shooting to showcase one of the best trails in the area filming essentially from top to bottom spanning The Separatist trail and finishing on the lower trails of Jerry Mountain (also known as Nkwala). In the 1990s, the Sri Lankan government’s embargoes on fuel, medicines and food items in the north and east of Sri Lanka in an effort to frustrate the operations of a separatist militant group known as the Tamil Tigers reached their peak. Leith, North Dakota is a registered ghost town of 16-24 people, depending on who you ask. Its inhabitants are mostly farmers or ranchers, with land passed down generation to generation. The town has an apocalyptic beauty set against a prairie backdrop of wide-open sky and fields of wheat. In May of 2012, an outsider named Craig Cobb moved in and started buying up property, accumulating twelve plots of land, some empty, some with houses in various states of disrepair. People figured he'd moved in to be close to the Bakken oil fields, some 70 miles north. Turns out he was a notorious white separatist who was plotting a takeover of the city government. Shortly after his plans were unveiled, a family of fellow white separatists moved in to start fixing up his properties. Leith, N.D. ...

11'52", 4:3, PAL SD, 2007 After 'O barquinho' and 'Falling light', I wanted to work on "found footage" and I began three different pieces using existing media. 'Song for Chechnya' was the one I stayed with. The image is taken from a documentary by Nino Kirtadze on Chechnya's occupation by the Russians. It was broadcasted by ARTE TV channel in 2004. At that time, I recorded the documentary and watched it again, moved by its humanism and courage in exposing something so very wrong. Both analogue and digital techniques were used to degrade the image so that, together with the 1964 electronic music by Robert Ashley, it would illustrate the hell Chechen people live in under Russian imperialism and oppression. The year after the release of the documentary, Chechen radical separatists took ...
Dr. James Cone's MARTIN AND MALCOLM AND AMERICA: A DREAM OR A NIGHTMARE is one of the best books I've ever studied. I made this video (photo-story mini lecture) to introduce a learning series. Dr. James Cone, one of America's best known architects of Black Liberation Theology, discusses the liberation strategies of Martin Luther King, Jr, and Malcolm X as they applied to their particular audiences: Dr. King to the South and Malcolm X to the North. Dr. Cone argues that Martin King's strategy of non-violent protest, while quasi-effective in an extremely racist and segregated South, was not effective in the North because the discourse and policy of "integration" was already superficially accepted by Northern white liberals. The "liberal" North found Dr. King's non-violent social change rhe...
http://www.gty.org/Resources/Sermons/41-9 Well you can open your Bible to Mark chapter 2 as we continue our study of this wonderful account of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mark chapter 2, we're going to be looking at verses 13 to 17, but we're not going to get there for just a minute. I want to set it up a little bit in your thinking. One of the things we always like to do is to think biblically, to get back into the context of Scripture and sometimes that's a bit of a transition. Sometimes trying to get us out of this world, the way this world thinks and the way things exist in perspective in this world may be very different from the ancient world. And sometimes we can make the contrast to help us back into biblical mind set. Let me approach that this way. Let's imagine for the s...
Whispering words of dissolution,
As compassion fails, atrophying sanctity,
We’re losing faith, descending into suffocation,
A relapse into infinite desolation,
And so this hollow earth is defiled.
Now all that remains, this memonic oracle,
A gentle reminder of our reverence lost,
Of the carnage converging on our wretched earth,
Foretelling the demise of salvation.
Calling our names in desperation,
Transcending death, with admonitions of our ruin,
Our disregard sees us falling silently towards the end,
Fall, our deliberation drenched with spite for those who heeded that infernal warning,
