Welcome to Tingle Tuesdays! Sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. The composition of sand is highly variable, depending on the local rock sources and conditions, but the most common constituent of sand in inland continental settings and non-tropical coastal settings is silica (silicon dioxide, or SiO2), usually in the form of quartz.
The second most common form of sand is calcium carbonate, for example aragonite, which has mostly been created, over the past half billion years, by various forms of life like coral and shellfish. It is, for example, the primary form of sand apparent in areas where reefs have dominated the ecosystem for millions of years, like the Caribbean.
In terms of particle size as used by geologists, sand particles range in diameter from 0.0625 mm (or ⅟16 mm) to 2 mm. An individual particle in this range size is termed a sand grain. Sand grains are between gravel (with particles ranging from 2 mm up to 64 mm) and silt (particles smaller than 0.0625 mm down to 0.004 mm). The size specification between sand and gravel has remained constant for more than a century, but particle diameters as small as 0.02 mm were considered sand under the Albert Atterberg standard in use during the early 20th century. A 1953 engineering standard published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials set the minimum sand size at 0.074 mm. A 1938 specification of the United States Department of Agriculture was 0.05 mm. Sand feels gritty when rubbed between the fingers (silt, by comparison, feels like flour).

Kinetic sand is a really interesting toy made of 98% sand and 2% silicone oil (added also to cooking oils and many beauty products). The key point here is obviously this second ingredient that helps to mimic the properties of wet sand. It also prevents from sticking to other surfaces than the sand itself what makes it surprisingly easy to clean up. Since I can remember I've always planned to make a video featuring the sounds of wet sand, but it really made me feel bad every time when I thought how messy it's gonna be. Sparkly Blue Kinetic Sand (ASMR whisper, packaging and sand sounds)
I really thought this stuff would dye my hands blue, but to my surprise it didn't, and washed off super easily with soap and water. Not bad for 75% off at Michaels huh? ;D I tried using a different camera lens for the last few shots in this video. It's much harder to use, no manual focus- which if you're me and you record on your own, means running back and forth from your camera a lot- but I love how they turned out! I'm really happy with the final product. Lucky Penny Thoughts: It was fun finally checking out all of the sand colors from Spin Masters line of Kinetic Sand. It is my own version of a Kinetic Sand Rainbow! Which was your favorite new color? What would you call the different colors. The mixed color really looked like pencil erasure shavings! This video was a lot of fun to make, I hope you enjoyed it!

Kinetic sand is a really interesting toy made of 98% sand and 2% silicone oil (added also to cooking oils and many beauty products). The key point here is obviously this second ingredient that helps to mimic the properties of wet sand. It also prevents from sticking to other surfaces than the sand itself what makes it surprisingly easy to clean up. Since I can remember I've always planned to make a video featuring the sounds of wet sand, but it really made me feel bad every time when I thought how messy it's gonna be. With this toy it was just a pure fun.
In case there is someone who reads the description, please let me know whether the sound is not too quiet. I have always the impression that the sound could have been amplified just a little bit more. If you want me to make it louder please let me guys know.

This was not to prove one sand is better then the other, but show the properties that each had through the test. Brookstone Sand and Kinetic Sand are exactly alike (besides color), The most unique sands were Sands-A-Live and Moon Sand. Squishy and Cra Z Sand were similar, but smelled differently.

It's my 3 year channel anniversary :D To celebrate I made a looong video with Kinetic Sand, and this might me my favorite ASMR video I have ever made in these 3 years!!! I am not kidding. This is so soothing...Trust me, you will feel so calm after watching this ♥
Anyways, I use tools throughout most of the video to do little shapes, to cut the sand, etc. Hope you'll enjoy, tingle team!

Children LOVE those fancy playtime sands which are more fun than Play Doh. There's Moon Sand, Magic Sand, Kinetic Sand (sand in motion) and Sands Alive to name just a few. Lets examine Kinetic Sand vs Sands Alive and see how my children rate these expensive craft toys. These sands are unusual because of the way they feel and how they seem to transform before your eyes. I'm sure many parents have had to deal with Play Doh stuck in the carpet, but how do these sands stack up when it comes to clean up time. My daughter crafted Angry Birds and Disney BAYMAX. Even made a sand surprise egg! Where as my son's creations were a little more abstract. Daddy crafted an amazing Sphinx Of Egypt out of Kinetic Sand, but sadly the face fell off. Anyway it's the sort of toy that once you start to play it's difficult to stop. The clean up investigation may have you choose very carefully as there was a clear winner once the Dyson DC59 hit the carpet.
Kinetic Sand is a malleable sand product that mimics wet sand. A three-dimensional building toy made of 98% sand and 2% polydimethylsiloxane, Kinetic Sand was originally designed for sculptures but is commonly sold as indoor play sand for children. With a visual appearance similar to light-brown sugar, it can be molded, sticks to itself but not to most other materials or surfaces, and does not dry out. Polydimethylsiloxane (also called dimethicone) is a silicon-based organic polymer known for its unusual rheological (or flow) properties. It is what differentiates Kinetic Sand from ordinary sand. A major component in Silly Putty, polydimethylsiloxane is a viscoelastic material that at room temperature flows in a manner similar to honey.
Sands Alive! is made from all 100% natural organic materials, with no chemicals and never dries out. Only compound in the market place that has a lab report to prove no bacteria can grow in the sand
100% safe for kids to play with. Easy to clean up, non-sticky and won’t stain (hmmmm I'm not so sure). Molds easily into any shape, Unique NON-TOXIC formula that prevents bacterial growth. Water Soluble! DO NOT MIX WITH WATER. This is a safety feature if a child puts it in their mouth it will just dissolve. 100% safe if a child ingests the product. I try to describe ASMR experience to people using something common like visiting a hairdresser, do you find the experience of someone focusing on you, the gentle touching of your hair, the sound of the scissors moving around you relaxing?
That would be a relaxing experience, watching ASMR video is like recreating that type of experience.
I believe most people can experience ASMR, to experience ASMR you need to find your trigger, common triggers:

I really thought this stuff would dye my hands blue, but to my surprise it didn't, and washed off super easily with soap and water. Not bad for 75% off at Michaels huh? ;D I tried using a different camera lens for the last few shots in this video. It's much harder to use, no manual focus- which if you're me and you record on your own, means running back and forth from your camera a lot- but I love how they turned out! I'm really happy with the final product. Watch in 1080 to see it best :D
