How to cook Fish and Chips. This is a very easy recipe for crispy fish and chips.
For the batter:
1 cup self rising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cup beer
All ingredients need to be very cold.
Beer and flour ratio will need to be adjusted depending upon your flour.

In this video recipe I am showing you how to make the most amazing fish and chips recipe I have ever tasted! This was inspired by a trip to River cottage where I learnt the dish from Gill one of their top chefs but wanted to replicate the dish myself at home - here is how I got on, it's sensational with a really cheeky beer batter.
Ingredients for fish and chips
CHIPS
2cm - 3cm cut and peeled maris piper potatoes
Sunflower oil
Chips to around 120 degrees c first dunk in oil
Up to 160 c degrees second dunk in oil
PEAS
Bowl of frozen peas
Knob of butter
Handful fresh mint
FISH
Pollock fish fillets (or alternative)
200g flour with seasoning of salt
Your favourite beer (around 250ml will do it but add gradually)
TARTARE SAUCE
300g mayo
2 hard boiled eggs
50g capers
Handful fresh fennel tops (I used dill)
1 shallot finely diced
Juice of half a lemon

One of the films from my first semester at Cambridge School of Art, taking Film & TV. The brief was to shoot and edit a 3 minute film about a location special to myself using the Panasonic 151. I decided to make it about Toff's because it's my local chippy, I've always been fond of it and I think it is visually interesting.

The Golden Fish in Dagenham has been given the accolade of best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK. The Potato Council announced the award during Chip week 16th - 22nd February 2015. It beat off competition from 900 restaurants nationwide. The family-run chip shop sits on the high street and has been serving customers for 40 years. While locals are its best customers – including David Beckham's parents - apparently personalities and many from abroad also show up to taste the best fish and chips in Britain. The Potato Council said Great Britain is no doubt a nation of chip lovers and wanted to vote for their favourite. Ynuk.tv went to meet the winners. http://www.thegoldenfish.co.uk

Fish and chips is a popular take-away food in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. It consists of battered fish which is deep-fried and served with chips.
Fish and chips became a stock meal among the working classes in Great Britain as a consequence of the rapid development of trawl fishing in the North Sea, and development of railways connecting ports to cities during the second half of the 19th century. In 1860, the first fish and chip shop was opened in London by Joseph Malin.
Deep-fried chips (slices or pieces of potato) as a dish may have first appeared in Britain in about the same period: the Oxford English Dictionary notes as its earliest usage of "chips" in this sense the mention in Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities (published in 1859): "Husky chips of potatoes, fried with some reluctant drops of oil".
The modern fish-and-chip shop ("chippy" or "chipper" in modern British slang) originated in the United Kingdom, although outlets selling fried food occurred commonly throughout Europe. According to one story, fried-potato shops spreading south from Scotland merged with fried-fish shops spreading from southern England.[citation needed] Early fish-and-chip shops had only very basic facilities. Usually these consisted principally of a large cauldron of cooking fat, heated by a coal fire. During World War II fish and chips remained one of the few foods in the United Kingdom not subject to rationing.

The Golden Fish in Dagenham has been given the accolade of best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK. The Potato Council announced the award during Chip week 16th - 22nd February 2015. It beat off competition from 900 restaurants nationwide. The family-run chip shop sits on the high street and has been serving customers for 40 years. While locals are its best customers – including David Beckham's parents - apparently personalities and many from abroad also show up to taste the best fish and chips in Britain. The Potato Council said Great Britain is no doubt a nation of chip lovers and wanted to vote for their favourite. In this video recipe I am showing you how to make the most amazing fish and chips recipe I have ever tasted! This was inspired by a trip to River cottage where I learnt the dish from Gill one of their top chefs but wanted to replicate the dish myself at home - here is how I got on, it's sensational with a really cheeky beer batter.
Ingredients for fish and chips
CHIPS
2cm - 3cm cut and peeled maris piper potatoes
Sunflower oil
Chips to around 120 degrees c first dunk in oil
Up to 160 c degrees second dunk in oil
PEAS
Bowl of frozen peas
Knob of butter
Handful fresh mint
FISH
Pollock fish fillets (or alternative)
200g flour with seasoning of salt
Your favourite beer (around 250ml will do it but add gradually)
TARTARE SAUCE
300g mayo
2 hard boiled eggs
50g capers
Handful fresh fennel tops (I used dill)
1 shallot finely diced
Juice of half a lemon

It beat off competition from 900 restaurants nationwide. The family-run chip shop sits on the high street and has been serving customers for 40 years. While locals are its best customers – including David Beckham's parents - apparently personalities and many from abroad also show up to taste the best fish and chips in Britain. Ingredients
as needed beer
1/2 tsp cornflour
1 tbsp cucumber
1 number Fish
3 number green chillies
1 number lemon juice
1 tbsp Maida
1 number onions
as needed 0 red chilli powder
as needed 0 salt
1 tbsp vinegar
Directions
Take a plate add lemon juice, salt,red chilli powder mix well then dip the fish fille both the side.
Take a bowl add All purpose Flour ie maida, salt, baking powder, beer mix this well, keep it in a fridge for 15 min. add yellow food color
In another plate add cornflour and maida dip the marinated fish both the side.
To make a mock sauce add vinegar,onion,cucumber, green chillies chopped microwave for 1 min cool it down and add it to mayonnaise mix well.
