Young Communist League of Israel // Fundamental Principles

*Banki (Hebrew acronym for The Young Communist League of Israel) is a political youth movement. It is the young guard of the Communist Party of Israel (CPI).

*Banki is the only youth movement in Israel guided by socialist values and principles. We affirm our faith in humanism, democracy, internationalism, and an uncompromising opposition to every form of abuse and oppression of Man by Man. The Marxist theory that we espouse examines various social phenomena and the connections between them: between the social regime and national questions; between class interests and political questions. Thus we are able to analyze the changing conditions and circumstances of the existing regime and to formulate a viable strategy for its replacement.

*Banki is the only youth movement in Israel grounded on the principle of Jewish-Arab equality, in participation in its institutions, functions and operations. We believe that the state of Israel needs to be a state for all of its citizens, and that its character and future must be decided by all citizens, Jewish and Arab alike.

*Banki is a democratic youth movement; its leaders and guides are democratically elected and are committed to freedom of expression, and to the encouragement of creative and constructive dialogue, deliberation and criticism.

*Banki contends that a vital condition to the establishment of an equitable society in Israel is the solution to its fundamental contradictions. This solution must include answers pertaining to the continuing conflict between Jews and Arabs inside of Israel itself, and between the state and its neighbors. Banki insists upon the recall of all laws and establishments discriminating against Arab citizens. Pertaining to the regional conflict, we believe that the solution must be based on two central principles: the recognition of the right of self determination for all regional peoples, including the Palestinians; and the steadfast stance on the principles of internationalism, and working class solidarity which must transcend national borders.

*Banki supports struggles against social and gender discrimination, civil rights infringement, religious coercion, and environmental destruction. We are committed to the defense of the freedom of thought and conscience, the rights of Man and of citizens of every population, and to religious freedom. We are supportive of the struggles of the workers, child laborers, and the children of urban and disadvantaged neighborhoods.

*Banki maintains connections with communist youth movements throughout the world and cooperates with other Israeli organizations working towards a just peace and socialism.

*Banki works in the interests of a democratic and humanistic education system.
