Connor Lewis is a charismatic collector of 20th-century antique golf clubs and an even bigger hickory golf enthusiast. On this episode of “Golf Treasures” he’ll challenge Bob and Ryan to a match of hickory golf with clubs from that era for a chance to bring home some one-of-a-kind Bobby Jones items. Next the crew visits John Burns – a major Bobby Jones enthusiast. He’s a stern businessman with just the right kind of high-end collectibles that could be the next show-stopper piece for Bob and Ryan. When it comes to golf artwork, there’s one painting to rule them all: “The Bunker.” It was painted in 1894 by British painter Charles Edmund Brock, and is known as one of the most renowned golf paintings in the world. In fact, it’s so famous that some call it the “Mona Lisa of golf paintings.” Part of what makes “The Bunker” so valuable is the fact that Brock rarely did golf paintings. Only three are known to exist, with the other two being “The Drive” and “The Putt.” The three paintings were all done by Brock in 1894 as a part of the same series — a very expensive series, at that. Incredibly, Ryan and Bob from Back9Network’s “Golf Treasures” were able to get their hands on “The Bunker” from a private collector to feature in one of their auctions.
