During the Spanish colonial rule, the area was officially known as the Nuevo Reino de Filipinas: La Provincia de Texas. Antonio Margil de Jesús was known to be the first person to use the name in a letter to the Viceroy of Mexico in July 20, 1716. The name was not popularly used in daily speech but often appeared in legal documents until the end of the 1800s.

Welcome to Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the United States.
Once an outpost in the Old West, Houston is now a down-to-earth metropolis, boasting a tremendous shipping and energy industry, as well as plenty of culture.
Kick off your Houston tour at Discovery Green, a 12-acre park tucked beneath the city’s skyscrapers. You’ll find public art and plenty of space to picnic or go for walks. Houstoners take pride in their various parks, museums, and open spaces, like the Houston Arboretum, where you can go birdwatching, learn about green living, and hike the trails to explore local wildlife.
Speaking of exploring, your Houston sightseeing should include a trip to the USS Texas., This battleship served in two World Wars and now stands guard as a museum on the Buffalo Bayou. Head over to the Gulf for a walk on the beach while you watch the sunset, then get ready to gear up for the evening with some delicious TexMex shared with the locals. After you lose yourself in a few rounds of line dancing to burn off all those fajitas, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t come to Houston earlier.

The most important places to visit in Dallas are: Southfork Ranch (it is known worldwide as the filming location for the "Dallas" series. Take a tour of America's most famous ranch), Botanical Garden (discover this wonderful garden in Dallas. The best time to visit is during Spring when thousands of flowers are blooming), Fair Park (home to museums and gardens, it is most famous for the amazing State Fair in the fall), Reunion Tower (one of the most famous landmarks of Dallas. Visitors can even dine at a restaurant at the top of the tower), Dealey Plaza (the site of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. It is a national historic landmark and you can see the spot where the fatal shot hit) and many more.

Welcome to Austin, home to nearly 900,000 people. The capital of Texas attracts a number of young, talented university students, which has prompted a good-natured culture war between the newcomers and the city’s longtime residents. So far, the latter group seems to be winning, thanks to their dedication to the Keep Austin Weird campaign. You’ll find elements of this movement throughout the city in the shape of various art installations, eclectic eateries, and murals.
An Austin tour means an adventure in the Live Music Capital of the World, home to festivals celebrating all kinds of tunes. Whether you’re here to listen to blues, country, or a little bit of rockabilly, you’re bound to find exactly what your musical palette desires in this quirky town.
Austin is proud of its citizens, and throughout the city you’ll find monuments of ranchers, prominent musicians, and Civil War heroes. Many of these monuments are located in Austin’s numerous parks, making it an excellent place to get in touch with nature. If relaxing by a fountain seems a little too bohemian for you, visit South Congress Avenue. “SoCo” is a veritable paradise anyone who loves vintage threads and just the right amount of “weird” that makes Austin unique.
Don’t worry about keeping yourself fed – as you’ll notice in your Austin sightseeing adventure, you’ll find a food truck on every street, and bistros, cafes, and restaurants just waiting for you to dive in and sample their culinary offerings.
Whether you’re here for music, food, or to take in the local art scene, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in downtown Austin. Have you been to any of its famous festivals?

Travel video about destination Arizona in the USA.
Arizona, land of cowboys and Indians and Wild West towns plus, among its many natural wonders, the all pervasive colour red as displayed by the awe-inspiring rock formations of its mighty canyons.A thousand years ago the highly-cultured Anasazi and Hohokam Indians lived here, planting maize and vegetables in the meagre valleys and building walled towns into the cliffs of the canyons. They used the natural environment, protected caves in natural rock walls, which were accessible only by simple wooden ladders. For the past century, scientists from all over the world have investigated evidence that a gigantic meteorite crashed here, leaving behind it a huge crater: Meteor Crater. As the central and inner walls of the crater are similar to the landscape of the moon, preparation and training for the APOLLO space missions took place here. Located in North West Arizona is the 378 square kilometre National Park known as the ‘Petrified Forest’ with a surrounding desert which shimmers in all the colours of the rainbow. There’s the Agate Bridge, a huge fossilised tree trunk which spans twelve metres wide across a gorge and the amazingly beautiful Canyon De Chelly. Situated in the Navajo Indian Reservation, the Betatakin Ruins are the remains of historical dwellings which were carved into the rock by their original inhabitants from the 13th Century B.C. Wild West fans instantly recognise Monument Valley where, between colossal, 300 metre tall monoliths and sky-high rocky needles, John Wayne and countless other screen heroes fought off Indians and battled with ‘baddies’. A natural sculpture formed from undulating waves of stone, Antelope Canyon is a palette of colour which teases the eye. From the surface, a gaping crevice is the only means of access, tempting the curious to enter. In bold contrast, the Grand Canyon is 1,600 metres deep and 16 kilometres long, the most colossal gorge in the world. The sight of this gigantic natural wonder is the exciting climax of any trip to the magnificent and majestic land of Arizona.

Dallas - Texas - United States Travel guide http://goo.gl/tLsKrZ
Dallas is a young city with all the vigour of youth. Effigies of modern architecture rise like glass trees out of the downtown area. In 1841, it was simply a plan of 20 streets on the 256 hectares (640 acres) of south central America, claimed by a Tennessee lawyer, John Neely Bryan. Today, it is the ninth largest city in the USA, and including its western neighbour of Fort Worth, it is the nation's fastest growing metropolitan area.
Thriving at the bottom edge of America's Great Plains, Dallas has embraced dreamers and entrepreneurs for the better part of two centuries. Big D, as it's affectionately called, merges Southern hospitality with modern sophistication. Though the landscape looks different than at its humble beginning, the city still welcomes enterprising people who gather to share their grand ideas and stake claims on new frontiers.
Dallas will always be remembered for one, if not two, shootings. The first and most shocking occurred on 22 November 1963, when President J F Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas. The second shooting may only have been fictional but, when J R Ewing was shot by an unknown killer in the TV series Dallas in the early 1980s, fans across the world were devastated. Even today, the legend of J R remains strong, as does the legacy of President Kennedy.
Today the city is a mecca for the banking, electronics and oil industries, as well as for dining, shopping, arts and entertainment. Large scale developments of urban lofts, apartments, condominiums, retail and both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are springing up across the city. An impressive new Dallas Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2009 to vie with New York's Lincoln Center. New facilities and relevant attractions in and around this cultural centre continue to grow.
Among things you probably didn't know about Dallas: The city has the largest urban arts district in the United States spanning 19 blocks. What's more, the Dallas Arts District has more buildings designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects in one contiguous location than anywhere else in the world. And Dallas' Fair Park, just a short distance east of the arts district and a district with numerous museums and venues, features the nation's largest collection of 1930s Art Deco, exposition-style architecture.
Dallas offers true Southern hospitality, be it in a humble hideaway cocktail bar or in the Mansion on Turtle Creek, repeatedly and regularly ranked as one of the world's top hotels. And with a 10th of its workforce in the hospitality industry, Dallas is always happy to have y'all come on in and stick around awhile.
Those wishing to explore further afield should take the busy freeway 30 miles to the west to the easy-going, cattle-driving, twin city of Fort Worth, home to a national historic district and a surprising stash of world-class art museums.
The similarities between the two include a stunning rate of business and population growth, in spite of a sluggish recent economy; a shared passion for the pro sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, whose new billion-dollar stadium is now in Tarrant County instead of Dallas; and a great pride in being Texan.

San Antonio ~ Texas ~ Discover San Antonio ~ Travel Guide
officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019.[1] It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000.[4][5] The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County. The city has characteristics of other western urban centers in which there are sparsely populated areas and a low density rate outside of the city limits. San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio, the metropolitan area has a population of over 2.27 million based on the 2013 US Census estimate, making it the 25th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in the state of Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is on June 13, by a 1691 Spanish expedition in the area. It is notable for Spanish colonial missions, the Alamo, the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks, and the city is visited by approximately 26 million tourists per year, according to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. The city is home to the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest such events in the country.
The US armed forces have numerous facilities in San Antonio: Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base (which constitute Joint Base San Antonio), and Lackland AFB/Kelly Field Annex, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley located outside the city. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred to Lackland AFB. The remaining portions of the base were developed as Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park. San Antonio is home to six Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.

Da Camera presents For Philip Guston by Morton Feldman
Published on Dec 4, 2014
Performed on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas by Claire Chase, flute, alto flute, piccolo; Steven Schick, percussion; Sarah Rothenberg, piano/celesta
In the contemplative setting of Rothko Chapel, Da Camera presents a performance of Morton Feldman's monumental masterpiece For Philip Guston, completed 30 years ago on November 9, 1984. Written in memory of his close friend, from whom the composer had been estranged for over ten years, this moving late work encompasses all that the fiercely independent composer invented in music. Scored for flute/piccolo, percussion and piano, this rarely performed serene and majestic work is a four-hours plus marathon.
Sarah Rothenberg on Morton Feldman's For Philip Guston:
"For Da Camera's 25th Anniversary season, back in 2013 we offered a free performance of Feldman's "ROTHKO CHAPEL" in Rothko Chapel and recorded the work. Steve Schick was the percussionist and at that time said to me, "Now we need to do FOR PHILIP GUSTON, " Feldman's monumental late masterpiece written in response to the death of the painter. The timing was perfect, for as I began planning for this season I learned that the Menil Collection would be presenting an exhibition on Gandhi and, what was called at the time, "the aesthetics of non-violence." Morton Feldman's aesthetic epitomizes the idea of non-violence; there are no harsh attacks, but, like the paintings of Mark Rothko, edges are blurred and colors intensify and pale within softened lines, without hard divisions and no violent ruptures. Additionally, I think that the aesthetic of non-violence has built into it the idea of patience. Non-violent movements of resistance have always demanded patience of its activists in the quest for change. Feldman's FOR PHILIP GUSTON is notable for its length, which is about 4 1/2 hours. This necessarily puts both performers and audience members alike in a position of pushing the normal limits of patience and entering into a kind of state of suspension, in which the edges of time itself seem to blur. Musical events unfold over a slow sense of time, and in the course of listening to the piece ( and playing it), our own way of experiencing time shifts - this is what makes it magical and, for some, a life-changing experience.
Preparing for this piece is an unusual challenge, as one does not sit down and play it through. It is more like preparing for a marathon, and it is a marathon of concentration as well as endurance. Feldman's work is precisely notated and there is a constant pulse that needs to be maintained throughout the 4.5 hours in the minds of each of the 3 performers. There are long sections where we do not exactly "line up" note to note, but we need to be keeping exactly the same internal pulse in order to start phrases together and then arrive at new sections together where we are absolutely locked into each other's rhythmic patterns. When preparing alone, I also spend time practicing the ability to pull complex rhythms out of the air; sometimes difficult moments occur when one is 3-4 hours into the piece, so there will be tremendous fatigue. As an ensemble, we will be rehearsing at least six hours a day for three days, and have mapped out a plan where we cover the entire work but never completely play through it fully until the concert- this is unique, and I've never done a work before where that is true. In fact, the last pages of the score - which is 102 pages long - are absolutely synchronized and take a lot of concentration. I imagine that arriving at those final pages brings a state of quiet ecstasy, but I won't know for sure what it feels like until we perform the work. As it turns out, our performance on November 2, 1984, is almost exactly 30 years after Feldman completed the work, for when we finally reach the end of p. 102 (of the entirely handwritten score that we all play from), we see in Feldman's handwriting the date: November 9, 1984. It also happens to be the first day when daylight savings time ends, a day when we always notice the shift of time as the afternoon darkens at an earlier hour, and we purposely picked this date so that our audience can experience the waning daylight in Rothko Chapel."

The repairs were entirely ineffective at removing tension on the shelter building weather head. The fence post, if pulled very hard, will easily come up out of the ground. This is a disaster waiting to happen.

Deltapine NPE Glen Lyon, Morton, Texas – The Importance of Good Planter Conditions for Cotton
Why is it important to make sure your planter is in the best condition before you plant?
Deltapine® NPE Glen Lyon of Morton, Texas, says that establishing good planter conditions encourage seed emergence and a good cotton stand – especially in dry regions like Texas.
Through the Deltapine® New Product Evaluator (NPE) Program, noted cotton farmers across the country work with Deltapine® to bring the best varieties to market by planting potential varieties on their own farms and providing valuable insight about performance, quality and yield for specific soils and climates throughout the Cotton Belt. Houston Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Houston Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Visit our Houston travel guide page for more information or to plan your next vacation!

Dallas is the ninth most populous city in the United States and the third most populous city in the state of Texas. Dallas makes up one-fifth of the much larger urbanized area known as the Dallas--Fort Worth Metroplex, in which one quarter of all Texans live.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Dallas travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Whether you’re looking for arts, technology, or culture, a Dallas tour has a little bit of everything. Stroll through the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center to take in their creative works, followed by a trip up to the top of the Reunion Tower for a breathtaking view of the city.

Don’t worry – it also has an entire section devoted to creatures of dry land, so make sure you check out the Jungle Walk. You can also scream your way through over 100 rides at Six Flags, or explore the history of the cowboy way at Pioneer Plaza.

Welcome to San Antonio, one of America’s top travel destinations.
Start your San Antonio sightseeing with a tour of 18th century Spanish missions and several iconic attractions by the Paseo del Rio, also known as the River Walk. The River Walk is accessible by vintage trolleys or even river taxis that will offer you a unique view of this thriving downtown.
Indulge in TexMex and European food from the restaurants strewn across the city. When you’re ready to continue your San Antonio tour, you can spend hours wandering the San Antonio Museum of Art, which is housed in an old brewery. Ready for some sunshine? Head to Market Square to enjoy live performances, merchant stalls full of goods to purchase, and a perfect opportunity for people-watching.
If you’ve brought the kids (or even if you’re on your own), you can head to the San Antonio Zoo and mingle with zebras and hundreds of other animals. Cap off your trip with a visit to the top of the Tower of the Americas, where you can see the entire city lit up beneath you.

Arizona Travel Video Guide
Arizona Travel Video Guide

Oncor Power Pole Problems in Eastland (Morton Valley) Texas
Oncor Power Pole Problems in Eastland (Morton Valley) Texas
Steve Huffman of CSSI and Steve Benzer of Expert Broadcast Electronics visit KQXE and KQXB radio stations in Eastland, Texas and discover the negligent repairs to a leaning Oncor power pole. The guy wire is uprooted and of no effect. The weather head and messenger cable have become the default guy wire for the power pole, a situation which threatens to pull the weather head and meter base off of the shelter building. Repeated calls to Oncor over a three-week time period have resulted in this laughable "repair."
The Oncor installation technicians have merely planted a fence post in the ground but made no effort to pull tension on the guy wire, no effort to straighten the power pole, no effort to relieve tension on the messenger cable. The repairs were entirely ineffective at removing tension on the shelter building weather head. The fence post, if pulled very hard, will easily come up out of the ground. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
