The Methow River (/ˈmɛt.haʊ/ MET-how) is a tributary of the Columbia River in northern Washington in the United States. The river's 1,890-square-mile (4,900 km2) watershed drains the eastern North Cascades, with a population of about 5,000 people. The Methow's watershed is characterized by relatively pristine habitats, as much of the river basin is located in national forests and wildernesses. Many tributaries drain the large Pasayten Wilderness. An earlier economy based on agriculture is giving way to one based on recreation and tourism.
The river was named after the Methow Native Americans (today part of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Indian Reservation). The name "Methow" comes from the Okanagan placename /mətxʷú/, meaning "sunflower (seeds)". The Native American name for the river was Buttlemuleemauch, meaning "salmon falls river". In 1841 the Wilkes Expedition named the river "Barrier River". Alexander Ross said the native name was Buttle-mule-emauch. In 1811 David Thompson met the tribe living along the river and wrote their name as Smeetheowe. In 1853 George Gibbs called the river Methow or Barrier.
Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial "fly" is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or "lure" requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting. Fly fishermen use hand tied flies that resemble natural invertebrates, baitfish, other food organisms, or "lures" to provoke the fish to strike (bite at the fly).
Fly fishing can be done in fresh or salt water. North Americans usually distinguish freshwater fishing between cold-water species (trout, salmon, steelhead) and warm-water species, notably bass. In Britain, where natural water temperatures vary less, the distinction is between game fishing for trout and salmon versus coarse fishing for other species. Techniques for fly fishing differ with habitat (lakes and ponds, small streams, large rivers, bays and estuaries, and open ocean.)
Author Izaak Walton called fly fishing "The Contemplative Man's Recreation".

Trout Unlimited is constructing a complete irrigation system upgrade with the goal of increasing anadromous and resident fish populations in the Twisp and Methow Rivers of central Washington State. TU’s Methow Valley Irrigation District Project seeks to protect as much as 11 cfs instream flows by changing the point of diversion from the Twisp River at river mile 3.5 to the Methow River, which will greatly improve stream temperature conditions and provide additional depth/habitat during critical low-water periods to benefit ESA listed Chinook, Steelhead and Bull Trout.
You guys deserve an explanation of my situation lately so I thought doing it while kayaking down the river would be the way to go. Currently I am up in Washington State working as a Wild Land Firefighter for the summer to make money for Destiny. I should be back down in the fall to start repairing my decks and rebuilding my motor. Until then I will be adventuring up here on both water and land so don't worry there will be a bunch more videos as well as a few I'm catching up on. Including my time skiing the Alps in Switzerland this winter and my surf trip to Nicaragua this past March. As for Phil and I... He is a great, great man and we had a lot of fun together. If you see him out on the water he is worth grabbing a beer with. It was a blast sailing with him but I had come to the conclus...
lying on the floor i wonder...were you just too afraid to show?
i guess we'll never know
to this distant ever-after...you didn't want to go
were we blinded by a reason?
watching days refuse to shine...to darkness from divine
such a pity for this lover...you left behind
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
after the feeling's gone...so long, because it's over
not a healthy situation...push me over, hold me down
to see if i would drown
was i waiting for an answer i didn't want to know?
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
after the feeling's gone...so long, because it's over
and like the lyrics to a song i sang to you before
you know it fades away
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
