Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) or AMD is an American multinational semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California, that develops computer processors and related technologies for commercial and consumer markets. Its main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors and graphics processors for servers, workstations and personal computers, and embedded systems applications.
AMD is the second-largest global supplier of microprocessors based on the x86 architecture and also one of the largest suppliers of graphics processing units. It also owns 8.6% of Spansion, a supplier of non-volatile flash memory.
AMD is the only significant rival to Intel in the central processor (CPU) market for (x86 based) personal computers. Together they held 99.1 percent (Intel 80.3%, AMD 18.8%) of the CPU's sold for quarter three of 2011.[dubious – discuss] Since acquiring ATI in 2006, AMD and its competitor Nvidia have dominated the discrete graphics processor unit (GPU) market, together making up virtually 100% of the market.

The $56 ALL AMD GAMING PC - BORDERLANDS 2 on a BUDGET
ALL AMD, this is a particular combo that has been MUCH requested, and finally today that request will be fulfilled when I get my hands dirty building a $56 Used PC with specifically using only an AMD CPU and GPU. This all came about when I saw a bargain on a Phenom X2 945 Quad Core Processor (with a mobo and 4gb of ddr2 memory) and then with the said 4 core processor I was able to clock all the way up to 3.7ghz on a budget AM2+ Gigabyte Motherboard, then when further coupled with a 2900XT (well actually an R600 Engineering Sample (!) you have yourself one half decent gaming PC that can play Borderlands 2, oh and also CS:GO :p. ALL AMD, this is a particular combo that has been MUCH requested, and finally today that request will be fulfilled when I get my hands dirty building a $56 Used PC with specifically using only an AMD CPU and GPU. This all came about when I saw a bargain on a Phenom X2 945 Quad Core Processor (with a mobo and 4gb of ddr2 memory) and then with the said 4 core processor I was able to clock all the way up to 3.7ghz on a budget AM2+ Gigabyte Motherboard, then when further coupled with a 2900XT (well actually an R600 Engineering Sample (!) you have yourself one half decent gaming PC that can play Borderlands 2, oh and also CS:GO :p.

There are a few small differences between the CPU in the video and the one used in the book. Those differences are listed below but they should not detract from your understanding of either.
CONTROL UNIT - This component is called the Control Section in the book. It is called Control Unit here simply because that is a more common name for it that you might see used elsewhere.
LOAD INSTRUCTION - In this video, what's called a LOAD instruction is actually called a DATA instruction in the book. The Scott CPU uses two different instructions to move data from RAM into the CPU. One loads the very next piece of data (called a DATA instruction in the book) and the other uses another register to tell it which address to pull that data from (called a LOAD instruction in the book). The instruction was renamed in the video for two reasons: 1) It might be confusing to hear that the first type of data we encounter in RAM is itself also called DATA. 2) Since the LOAD instruction from the book is a more complex concept, it was easier to use the DATA instruction in the video to introduce the concept of moving data from RAM to the CPU .
IN and OUT INSTRUCTIONS - In the Scott CPU, there is more involved in moving data between the CPU and external devices than just an IN or an OUT instruction. That process was simplified in the video to make the introduction of the concept easier.
ACCUMULATOR - The register that holds the output of the ALU is called the Accumulator in the book. That is the name typically used for this register, although it was simply called a register in the video.
MEMORY ADDRESS REGISTER - The Memory Address Register is a part of RAM in the book, but it is a part of the CPU in the video. It was placed in the CPU in the video as this is generally where this register resides in real CPUs.
JUMP INSTRUCTIONS - In the book there are two types of unconditional JUMP instructions. One jumps to the address stored at the next address in RAM (this is the one used in the video) and the other jumps to an address that has already been stored in a register. These are called JMP and JMPR instructions in the book respectively.
MISSING COMPONENT - There is an additional component missing from the CPU in the video that is used to add 1 to the number stored in a register. This component is called "bus 1" in the book and it simply overrides the temporary register and sends the number 1 to the ALU as input B instead.
REVERSED COMPONENTS - The Instruction Register and the Instruction Address Register are in opposite positions in the diagrams used in the book. They are reversed in the video because the internal wiring of the control unit will be introduced in a subsequent video and keeping these registers in their original positions made that design process more difficult.
OP CODE WIRING - The wires used by the control unit to tell the ALU what type of operation to perform appear near the bottom of the ALU in the video, but near the top of the ALU in the book. They were reversed for a similar reason as the one listed above. The wiring of the ALU will be introduced in a subsequent video and keeping these wires at the top of the ALU made the design process more difficult.

Tomorrow it will be 14 years ago that Nintendo released the Gameboy Advance. And we still love the old GBA. It's an awesome piece of hardware and here are five good reasons five reasons why!
#1 – Very good redesigns
The Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DS-i, DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL. You can see that Nintendo loves redesigning hardware. And giving them confusing names. Nintendo showed a little more restraint with the Gameboy Advance. Its first redesign was the Gameboy Advance SP, the version most of us really love! And if you were all about a small form factor the Gameboy Micro is probably the redesign you liked best! As you can see the redesign of the GBA actually meant something.
#2 – Ideal travel companion
The Gameboy Advance, and SP in particular, were true handheld devices. They were small and easy to keep in your pocket. The battery life was really good on these systems. The regular GBA did not have a backlit screen, but the Gameboy Advance SP did. This made the SP an ideal travel companion.
#3 – Backwardscompatibility
One of the technically most impressive features of the Gameboy Advance and Advance SP was backwards compatibility. These two devices allowed you to play older games from the Gameboy Color, Gameboy Pocket and even the original Gameboy. And you could even change the screen size while an older game. It's pretty special for a device to support games from two or three generations ago.
#4 – Hardcore handheld
When Brain Training and fitness coaches became the new standard on the Nintendo DS, we couldn't help but long for the good old days. Gaming on the GBA was hardcore. Sure, the game library wasn't as big as the DS, but the GBA got some of the most hardcore action adventure and role playing games ever made. All thanks to support from Capcom and Konami.
#5 – The games
The Gameboy Advance has an amazing amount of epic games. This might even be a good reason to pick one up from eBay if you missed this era in gaming. Think about titles like Metroid Fusion or what the tactical Advance Wars series. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Final Fantasy Tactics should not be forgotten and of course we have to mention Golden Sun!

Papa Wemba, a musician known around the world as the king of Congolese rumba, has died following a collapse on stage during a concert, officials said. He was 66. Culture Minister Baudouin Banza Mukalay confirmed the musician’s death on Sunday, calling it a “great loss for the country and all of Africa.” ...
