The history of mints correlates closely with the history of coins. One difference is that the history of the mint is usually closely tied to the political situation of an era. For example, when discussing the history of the New Orleans Mint, the usage of that mint by the Confederate States of America beginning in 1861 is a notable occurrence. The origins of the Philadelphia Mint, which began operations in 1792 and first produced circulating coinage in 1793, are interwoven with the initiation of the Federal era of the United States.
In the beginning, hammered coinage or cast coinage were the chief means of coin minting, with resulting production runs numbering as little as the hundreds or thousands. In modern mints, coin dies are manufactured in large numbers and planchets are made into milled coins by the billions.
With the mass production of currency, the production cost is weighed when minting coins. For example, it costs the United States Mint much less than 25 cents to make a quarter, and the difference in production cost and face value (called seigniorage) helps fund the minting body.
A coin is a piece of hard material that is standardized in weight, is produced in large quantities in order to facilitate trade, and primarily can be used as a legal tender.
Coins are usually metal or a metallic material and sometimes made of synthetic materials, usually in the shape of a disc, and most often issued by a government. Coins are used as a form of money in transactions of various kinds, from the everyday circulation coins to the storage of large numbers of bullion coins. In the present day, coins and banknotes make up currency, the cash forms of all modern money systems. Coins made for paying bills and general monetized use are usually used for lower-valued units, and banknotes for the higher values; also, in many money systems, the highest value coin made for circulation is worth less than the lowest-value note. In the last hundred years, the face value of circulation coins has usually been higher than the gross value of the metal used in making them; exceptions occurring when inflation causes the metal value to surpass the face value, causing the minting authority to change the composition and the old coins to begin to disappear from circulation (see Gresham's Law.) However, this has generally not been the case throughout the rest of history for circulation coins made of precious metals.

Replacing the bullion finish on earlier coins, the radial lines in the new 2014 SML's field have been precisely machined to within microns on the master tooling to ensure reproducibility from die to die and coin to coin. The uniqueness of the line width and pitch gives this coin a characteristic look, and creates a light diffracting pattern that is specific to this coin. Combined with a new visual security feature —a textured maple leaf micro engraved with laser technology on a small area of the reverse side, with the numeral "14" denoting the coin's year of issue—this coin represents the cutting edge in coin security.

Check out the U.S. Mint working around the clock to try and quell the public's insatiable demand for Silver Eagle Coins.
This footage was edited together thanks to the U.S. Mint and CoinMags footage while the supply chart was provided by SRSRoccoReport.com
At 3:20 in you get an even wider look at American Gold & Silver Eagle Coin sales since the 1986 inception of the U.S. Mint Bullion program.
Note how in silver eagle coin demand (blue bars), there are basically 3 stages of buying demand the U.S. Mint has received from the investing public.
As silver eagle coins are the #1 choice of physical silver bullion buyers the world over, I believe it worthwhile to examine the various stages of silver eagle coin demand to date.
First there is the inception of the coin program which surely excited coin collectors in the mid-1980s. Only then came the dot-com bubble of the middle and late 1990s, taking away most investor’s attentions.
Then around 1999, there were the Y2K (year 2000) fear phenomenons which swept many doomsdayers into a frenzy. Couple concerned people’s Y2K Mad Max narratives and the growing ability of the internet to spread not only messages of concern, but also to communicate fundamental investment knowledge (e.g. Ted Butler’s work) about silver and gold investing.
Remember too that in the year 2000, the U.S. dollar was strong, we had gas prices at like $1 a gallon. That was the approximate bottom point for bullion values. Then the 9/11 tragedy happened, we doubled down on wars, we got hammered with a barrage of fear cards from terrorists in caves plotting to decimate our cities. The easy credit and lending of the housing bubble kicked in, people felt wealthy, credit was easy and cheap for most middle class americans which rapidly appreciating on paper home values.
The final level of silver eagle coin demand sprang up thanks to the 2008 global financial crisis. At the time many, many losing investors (losing approximately 43% of their wealth) began to see the financial system’s instabilities while investigating the fundamental factors of our entire financial system. I am talking about how it works, how “the sausage is made”, what the system relies upon to function fluidly, where the biggest risks are, etc.
I believe many of these investors who were spurred to buy bullion during the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009, they for the most part understand the fundamental factors for why they bought physical silver (and gold for that matter). Most if asked would say the system has not structurally of fundamentally changed, it has indeed worsened. Many would also say (including myself) that there are more reasons now than ever to be stacking silver and gold bullion while reducing your portfolio’s paper and counterparty risks.
Today it only takes one large daisy-chain of derivatives gone bad to potentially expose the now larger than 2008 insolvent commercial banks who actively use accounting scams to cover their insolvency. We could see a global crisis in the confidence of the world’s bond markets. There is the potential of a G20 round-robin of global fiat currency devaluations for we do now have unsustainable debts and entitlement programs in the west which will have to be addressed at some point.
Eventually all the financial and monetary systems must be fundamentally fixed, band-aid central bank solutions, price and media propaganda, they won’t solve the issues long term. In the coming atonement, silver and gold bullion are what many in the public are choosing to hold (my dear reader, you can include me on the list).

As one of the Perth Mints UK distributors we offer the Australian Lunar coins on our websites - http://taxfreegold.co.uk/australiachineselunarcalendargoldcoins.html and http://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=australia.html
The Perth Mint have been issuing Chinese Lunar coins in gold and silver since 1996, today we’ll take a look at these highly collectable coins.
The Chinese lunar calendar is based on a 12 year cycle. There are 12 symbols, one for each year, which are based on the animals of the zodiac. Its use has been traced back to the 14th century and is used by the Chinese community all over the world for influencing festivals and important personal dates such as wedding and engagements.
The Perth Mint started issuing Chinese Lunar coins in gold and silver since 1996, which was the Year of the Rat.
Each year they issue gold and silver coins in 99.99% fineness.
The gold coins range sizes from 1/20th oz to 1 kilo whilst the silver coins range from ½ oz to 10 kilos.
Whilst they are all legal tender in Australia, as in the UK, you would be rather foolish to offer one of these coins in payment as their intrinsic value is many times higher than their face value.
The Perth Mint Lunar 1oz and 10 kilo coins are issued to a limited mintage. They are only available from the Perth Mint until the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the year, whichever comes first.
The 10 kilo silver Lunar coins are limited to 150 they are only available on a mint to order basis and are often sold out within days of issue. The rest of the sizes are available on a mint to order basis until the end of the year.
Pert Mint Lunar coins are highly collectible and sought after by collectors, earlier coins rarely come back onto the market. We have a wish list – as soon as they come in they usually go straight out again.
Lunar coins are issued by a number of other mints including the Royal Canadian Mint, the China Mint, New Zealand Mint, and in 2014 the Royal Mint launched their first lunar coins the Shengxiao Collection.
The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth portrait of the Queen.
The reverse is designed by British Chinese artist Wuon-Gean Ho and combines both British and Chinese heritage.
This year the Chinese year 4713 starts on the February 19th, 2015. The goat (or sheep) is the 8th animal in the lunar cycle. It is seen as particularly lucky as the number 8 symbolises peace and prosperity in Chinese culture. The goat is also thought to bring harmony and growth.
Lunar coins are very desirable amongst collectors and are ideal for the ancient tradition of gifting and wishing good fortune and prosperity to the recipient.

The Indian Head is the only coin struck with a recessed design in mint history. The recessed design was implemented to save the high detail of the design which may have been subject to more wear if the design sat on the surface. Bela Lyon Pratt created the design of the Indian Head but many other people were involved in the creation of this innovative recessed coin including Frank Leach, Charles E. Here is one the government can't deny screwing up!!
In 1883 the Mint issued a new 5c coin with the head of Liberty and a Roman “V” meaning “5” on the reverse. Many people thought that the coin was an error since in didn’t have “cents” anywhere on the coin.
The lack of the word cents created an opportunity for the unscrupulous. The coins were gold plated and reeds were cut into the edge by hand (nickels have a plain edge) and they were passed off as $5 gold coins.1883-racketeer-nickel
The most famous criminal case about altered 5 cent coins involved a deaf mute named Josh Tatum. He would go to cigar stands and purchase a 5c cigar and pay wi

Coin World managing editor William T. Gibbs reports on collector suspicions that dealers receive special treatment from the U.S. Mint during the sales of special products like the Truman and Eisenhower Coin & Chronicles sets. There’s no evidence that happens, but in the past, things were different, he reports.

A coin is a piece of hard material used primarily as a medium of exchange or legal tender. They are standardized in weight, and produced in large quantities at a mint in order to facilitate trade. They are most often issued by a government. Coins are usually metal or alloy, or sometimes made of synthetic materials. They are usually disc shaped. Coins made of valuable metal are stored in large quantities as bullion coins. Other coins are used as money in everyday transactions, circulating alongside banknotes. Usually the highest value coin in circulation (i.e. excluding bullion coins) is worth less than the lowest-value note. In the la

A mint is an industrial facility which manufactures coins that can be used in currency. The history of mints correlates closely with the history of coins. For example, it costs the United States Mint much less than 25 cents to make a quarter, and the differ

Bela Lyon Pratt created the design of the Indian Head but many other people were involved in the creation of this innovative recessed coin including Frank Leach, Charles E. Barber, and President Theodore Roosevelt! The collaboration of all these people led to the creation of this iconic piece of American numismatics that will fit perfectly into your collection.

The Pale Horse of the Apocalypse the fifth Silver coin in the Scottsdale Mint’s popular Biblical Coin Series, sold exclusively by APMEX. http://www.apmex.com/product/92639/2-oz-silver-coin-biblical-series-pale-horse
Revelation, the final book of the Bible, notes the end of days. In Revelation 6:7-8, John tells of the dreadful events that will bring a terrible end to the world as we know it. He speaks of “a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave.”
Gustave Doré depicted this very image in the 1860s with his wood carving of the “The Vision of Death.” The artwork features a majestic horse coming from the heavens carrying a fearsome figure cloaked in a flowing robe, followed by a host of demonic creatures. Utilizing skilled craftsmen and great attention to detail, the creative team at the U.S.-based Scottsdale Mint designed this .999 fine Silver piece to reflect the image on Doré’s original piece of artwork.
The Pale Horse is the fifth release in the 2015 six coin series of iconic Biblical scenes. Each of these APMEXclusive® 2 oz Silver coins has a mintage of just 1,499 and features an impressive high-relief, rimless design.
Coin Highlights:
•Contains 2 oz of .999 fine Silver.
•Each 2 oz coin in this Biblical series is packaged in a gift box reminiscent of the Bible.
•Included certificate of authenticity lists Revelations 6:7-8, which describes Death as the fourth horseman of the apocalypse and his power over the a quarter of the earth that is to be destroyed by sword, famine, plague and the wild beasts.
•Obverse: Features the Raphael Maklouf likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the weight, purity and face value.
•Reverse: Inspired by Gustave Doré's illustration of "The Vision of Death" showing the figure of Death garbed in a flowing robe, holding his sickle while riding through the clouds on a pale horse with winged demonic creatures in his wake.
•Edge: Laser-etched serial number, from 1 to 1499, which matches the serial number found on the included certificate of authenticity.
The certificate of authenticity has an antique feel that coincides nicely with both the finish of the 2 oz coin and the design subject. Included on the certificate is an image of Gustave Doré's "The Vision of Death", showing how accurately Scottsdale Mint's creative team recreated the original artwork for this coin series.

He would go to cigar stands and purchase a 5c cigar and pay with a gold plated, hand reeded nickel. The attendant would assume that it was a $5 gold piece and give Josh $4.95 change. He was acquitted since he never said that the coin was $5, he couldn’t. The Mint learned its lesson and later that year put the word “cents” at the bottom of the reverse.
Real Racketeer Nickels are rare but not costly. If you are wanting one, know what your looking for & get one from a reputable dealer.

Preferential treatment for some in Mint sales?: Monday Morning Brief, Aug. 31
Coin World managing editor William T. Gibbs reports on collector suspicions that dealers receive special treatment from the U.S. Mint during the sales of special products like the Truman and Eisenhower Coin & Chronicles sets. There’s no evidence that happens, but in the past, things were different, he reports.

Coin
In the last hundred years, the face value of circulation coins has occasionally been lower than the value of the metal they contain, for example due to inflation. If the difference becomes significant, the issuing authority may decide to withdraw these coins from circulation, or the public may decide to melt the coins down or hoard them (see Gresham's law). Exceptions to the rule of face value being higher than content value also occur for some bullion coins made of silver or gold (and, rarely, other metals, such as platinum or palladium), intended for collectors or investors in precious metals. Examples of modern gold collector/investor coins include the British sovereign minted by the United Kingdom, the American Gold Eagle minted by the United States, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf minted by Canada, and the Krugerrand, minted by South Africa. While the Eagle, Maple Leaf, and Sovereign coins have nominal (purely symbolic) face values; the Krugerrand does not. Historically, a great quantity of coinage metals (including alloys) and other materials (e.g. porcelain) have been used to produce coins for circulation, collection, and metal investment: bullion coins often serve as more convenient stores of assured metal quantity and purity than other bullion.

Mint (coin)
A mint is an industrial facility which manufactures coins that can be used in currency. The history of mints correlates closely with the history of coins.

Silver coins - 1976 Montreal Summer Games - Royal Canadian Mint Olympic coins
A key highlight of these coins were the standardized designs and the unique finishes. All 28 coins were styled in a similar fashion. The top aspect of the coin had the Olympic logo, its denomination, and the wording in the same spot.
The $10 denomination coins have a gross weight of 48.600 grams while the $5 denomination coins have a gross weight of 24.300 grams. Each coin is 92.5% silver for a net silver weight of 44.955 grams (1.4453 troy ounces) and 22.478 grams (0.7227 troy ounces) of silver respectively

If you need someone to make these punches or dies, you can email Dave at daveknowshow@aol.com. He actually has a much better design that will work better than the punches I have in my videos. He can also make the dies with the 20° pitch. The great thing is that he makes these, so there is no middle man between you and the tools.

Silver Maple Leaf 1 ounce coin - Royal Canadian Mint

Since its introduction in 1988, the iconic Silver Maple Leaf (SML) has been a highly sought-after Royal Canadian Mint bullion investment coin. The SML is minted with one troy ounce (31.11 grams) of 9999 fine silver, and has a face value of $5, the highest face value on the market for any comparable silver bullion coin. All 1-ounce 99.99% pure SML Bullion coins produced for 2014 and beyond will have two new and unique features for enhanced security.
ENHANCED SECURITY

This exciting Brilliant Uncirculated 1938-D Buffalo Nickel was graded MS66 by PCGS. Struck at the only mint striking buffalos in 1938, the Denver Mint, no 1938-D Buffalo Nickel has graded higher than MS68! Designed by James Earle Frasier, this is a truly stunning coin from the last year of issue for the Buffalo Nickel series and a must have for any Buffalo Nickel collection.

In 2013 the Royal Canadian Mint started a new series of ¼ ounce silver coins. The first in the series depicts a hockey player immersed in the intensity of a hockey game. The 9999 fine silver coin was selected as one of Royal Canadian Mints Best Coins of 2013! The low mintage of only 250,000 quickly sold out at mint. The coin comes encapsulated and is held in plastic pouch that is adhered to a beautifully illustrated Card of Authenticity. This is must for any hockey fan or coin collector!

Coin

This method involves dies and ball bearings. Also I got all of my ball bearings at Napa auto parts. I also got a few at the machine shop. The main sizes I use for morgans are 24 and 26 mm.
This is a link to my video for more info on how to make the hole in your coin
http://youtu.be/FN_5hFXk6Uk
This video will explain all of the particulars of my punches and dies that I use.

Thus video explains how to make the ring stretcher sleeve.

If you need someone to make these punches or dies, you can email Dave at daveknowshow@aol.com. He actually has a much better design that will work better than the punches I have in my videos. He can also make the dies with the 20° pitch. The great thing is that he makes these, so there is no middle man between you and the tools.

Hello everyone and welcome to my second Toontown Rewritten series. In this series I will be trying to complete VP's with a 15 laff toon named Oswald. Follow along as we journey through the sellbot headquarters and attempt to beat factories and ultimately a VP at 15 Laff! Be sure to let me know what you think of the series and if you have any other ideas for future series. Thanks as always for watching, be sure to rate, comment, and subscribe for more videos!
The extension of this series will include oswald trying to defeat a coin mint, DA office, as well as a front 3 if possible.
Special Thanks to Midnight, Loopybubbles Preciousberry, Hipzip, and Master doggendoodle for helping out!
