Nachdem die Ehefrau des Oxforder Kriminalinspektors Robert Lewis bei einem Autounfall ums Leben gekommen ist, hat sich Lewis, der ehemals der Assistent des legendären Inspektor Morse gewesen ist, für zwei Jahre auf die britischen Jungferninseln zurückgezogen.
Nun ist er wieder zurück, um einen ruhigen Ausbilderposten auf Bezirksebene anzunehmen. Doch daraus wird zunächst nichts. Kurz nachdem er von dem jungen Detective Seargent James Hathaway am Flughafen abgeholt worden ist, werden die beiden Kriminalbeamten zu einem Mordfall gerufen. In einem Schlaflabor, das von der Professorin Kate Jekyll geleitet wird, ist die Mathematikstudentin Regan Peverill erschossen worden. Der Verdacht fällt auf ihren Kommilitonen Daniel Griffon. Immerhin benutzte der Täter dessen Türcode. Professor Denniston gibt seinem Studenten Daniel für die Tatzeit aber ein überzeugendes Alibi.
Bei ihren Recherchen rund um die Industriellenfamilie Griffon stoßen Lewis und Hathaway auf Verhältnisse von geradezu shakespeareschem Ausmaß. Daniel nämlich hat seinen Onkel Rex in Verdacht, seinen Vater ermordet zu haben, um mit Daniels Mutter zusammenzuleben. Außerdem gibt es auch noch den Finanzdirektor des Betriebes, Tom Pollock. Dessen Tochter Jessica wiederum ist in Daniel verliebt.
Bevor die beiden Kommissare dazu kommen, all diese Verhältnisse zu überprüfen, überstürzen sich die Ereignisse. Tom Pollock wird ermordet in seinem Wagen aufgefunden, und in einem Ruderboot liegt die Leiche Daniel Griffons. Bei Daniel deuten die Indizien auf Selbstmord hin. Doch einem alten Fuchs wie Inspektor Lewis, dessen kriminalistischer Instinkt längst wieder erwacht ist, kann man nichts vormachen. Auch Daniel wurde ermordet. Nur von wem und warum? Dass alle drei Morde miteinander zusammenhängen, scheint nahe zu liegen. Noch aber fehlen Lewis und Hathaway die Schlüssel zu diesen Morden. Einen Hinweis findet Lewis ausgerechnet in den alten Unterlagen von Inspektor Morse, der seinerzeit den Tod des alten Griffon untersucht hatte. Schließlich ergibt sich mit schier mathematischer Präzision ein Muster, in das alle drei Morde hineinpassen.
Die Kriminaldirektorin Jean Innocent kann Inspektor Lewis am Ende nur noch zu seinem Scharfblick beglückwünschen. Und der nutzt die Gunst der Stunde und unterbreitet spontan den Vorschlag, statt als Ausbilder Vorträge zu halten, auch in Zukunft wieder in Oxford auf Mörderjagd zu gehen. Tatkräftig unterstützt natürlich von James Hathaway.

Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of the island, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.

Inspector Lewis
Robert "Robbie" Lewis is a fictional character in the Inspector Morse crime novels by Colin Dexter. The "sidekick" to Morse, Lewis is a Detective Sergeant in the Thames Valley Police, and appears in all 13 Morse novels. In the television adaptation, Inspector Morse, he is played by Kevin Whately. Following the conclusion of the series, Whately reprised the role as the lead character in Lewis, in which the character has been promoted to Inspector.

Lewis is a sergeant on the staff of the Thames Valley Police in Oxford, England, and in Inspector Morse is assistant to the titular Detective Chief Inspector Morse. Although Lewis's given name is Robert (Robbie), he was rarely referred to as anything but "Sergeant Lewis" or "Lewis."
The background and personality of Lewis – a working class, easygoing family man with a Geordie accent (in the TV series; he is Welsh in the novels) – is frequently contrasted with that of Morse – Oxford educated, RP-accented, lifetime bachelor. Morse frequently uses these differences to insult or demean Lewis, perhaps from Morse's point of view in a playful manner, but Lewis is often not amused by the jabs. In his frustration, Lewis is often more in step with their joint superior Chief Superintendent Strange, himself an evident supporter of Lewis; however, despite a great respect towards Strange, Lewis is always unflinchingly loyal to Morse and follows his lead.

Leona Lewis
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British singer, songwriter and animal welfare campaigner. She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, London, England where she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis achieved national recognition when she won the third series of The X Factor in 2006, winning a £1 million recording contract with Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Music. Her winner's single, a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This", peaked at number one for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart and it broke a world record for having 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records.
Lewis's success continued with the release of her debut album, Spirit, in 2007; it went 10x platinum in the United Kingdom, while the lead single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number-one. She achieved international recognition with the album in 2008, when she became the first British female solo artist to top the US Billboard 200 album chart in more than 20 years. Spirit has sold more than eight million copies worldwide, and "Bleeding Love" peaked at number one in over 30 countries, becoming the best-selling single of 2008. As a result, she was proclaimed 'Top New Artist' by Billboard in 2008. Under the guidance of Cowell and Davis, Lewis released her second UK number-one album Echo and recorded the theme song for the film Avatar in 2009, while embarking on her first UK arena tour, The Labyrinth, in 2010.

Plot: Horror movie, following the adventures of a group of students who enter the haunted forest Harrow Woods. Plot: Meet Scott Howard. He is a struggling high school student with problems. He is on a lackluster basketball team with a lame duck coach, he is having problems getting noticed by the prettiest girl in his school, Pamela Wells (who already has a boy friend who wants to ruin Scott's life named Mick Mcallister). But in the middle of it all, he feels an effects of a dog whistle and he itches everywhere and even discovers that his nails are longer and sharp. When he came home from a party, he discovers his new problem. He is a half human-wolf hybrid. He tries to keep this a secret, but during a basketball game the secret comes out and it helped Scott to turn his life around, the basketball team starts to become a contender for the state championships. He became very popular, and he was discovered by Pamela, and begin to go out with each other (despite that Pamela is still going out with Mick). But Scott's father warns him about turning into the wolf out of anger. So, Scott must watch his anger as he can still win Pamela's heart and the High School Basketball State Championship game.

Nachdem die Ehefrau des Oxforder Kriminalinspektors Robert Lewis bei einem Autounfall ums Leben gekommen ist, hat sich Lewis, der ehemals der Assistent des legendären Inspektor Morse gewesen ist, für zwei Jahre auf die britischen Jungferninseln zurückgezogen.
Nun ist er wieder zurück, um einen ruhigen Ausbilderposten auf Bezirksebene anzunehmen. Doch daraus wird zunächst nichts. Kurz nachdem er von dem jungen Detective Seargent James Hathaway am Flughafen abgeholt worden ist, werden die beiden Kriminalbeamten zu einem Mordfall gerufen. In einem Schlaflabor, das von der Professorin Kate Jekyll geleitet wird, ist die Mathematikstudentin Regan Peverill erschossen worden. Der Verdacht fällt auf ihren Kommilitonen Daniel Griffon. Immerhin benutzte der Täter dessen Türcode. Professor Denniston gibt seinem Studenten Daniel für die Tatzeit aber ein überzeugendes Alibi.
Bei ihren Recherchen rund um die Industriellenfamilie Griffon stoßen Lewis und Hathaway auf Verhältnisse von geradezu shakespeareschem Ausmaß. Daniel nämlich hat seinen Onkel Rex in Verdacht, seinen Vater ermordet zu haben, um mit Daniels Mutter zusammenzuleben. Außerdem gibt es auch noch den Finanzdirektor des Betriebes, Tom Pollock. Dessen Tochter Jessica wiederum ist in Daniel verliebt.
Bevor die beiden Kommissare dazu kommen, all diese Verhältnisse zu überprüfen, überstürzen sich die Ereignisse. Tom Pollock wird ermordet in seinem Wagen aufgefunden, und in einem Ruderboot liegt die Leiche Daniel Griffons. Bei Daniel deuten die Indizien auf Selbstmord hin. Doch einem alten Fuchs wie Inspektor Lewis, dessen kriminalistischer Instinkt längst wieder erwacht ist, kann man nichts vormachen. Auch Daniel wurde ermordet. Nur von wem und warum? Dass alle drei Morde miteinander zusammenhängen, scheint nahe zu liegen. Noch aber fehlen Lewis und Hathaway die Schlüssel zu diesen Morden. Einen Hinweis findet Lewis ausgerechnet in den alten Unterlagen von Inspektor Morse, der seinerzeit den Tod des alten Griffon untersucht hatte. The northern part of the island is called Lewis, the southern is Harris and both are frequently referred to as if they were separate islands. The boundary between Lewis and Harris is formed by a line with Loch Resort on the west and Loch Seaforth on the east. The island does not have a common name in either English or Scottish Gaelic and is referred to as 'Lewis and Harris', 'Lewis with Harris', 'Harris with Lewis' etc. Rarely, the collective name of the Long Island is used, although this is normally applied to the entire Outer Hebrides. Most of Harris is very hilly, with more than thirty peaks above 1,000 ft (300 m) high and seven mountains, defined as Corbetts. It has an area of 841 square miles (2,178 km2) – slightly under one per cent of the area of Great Britain. It is 24 miles (39 km) from the nearest point of the mainland, from which it is separated by the Minch. Lewis is comparatively flat, save in the south-east, where Ben More reaches 1,874 ft (571 m), and in the south-west, where Mealasbhal 1,885 ft (575 m) is the highest point. Lewis and Harris is the most populous of the Scottish islands, and had just over 20,500 residents in 2011, a rise of 5.6% from the 2001 census total of 19,918. The civil parish of Stornoway, including the main town of the island itself and various nearby villages, has a population of approximately 12,000.

Scotland is famous of its Celtic monuments, the beautiful landscape of the Highlands and the monster of Loch Ness.

Pathé archive voice over: To few people in a lifetime comes the chance of seeing such a gigantic blaze as the funeral pyre of the Crystal Palace, one of the few remaining links with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
Narrator: In 1936 a fire destroyed the spectacular building known as the Crystal Palace - the same building that 85 years earlier had housed the famous ' Great Exhibition' , one of the most important events of the Victorian era.
On 1 May 1851 the Great Exhibition was opened by Queen Victoria. Her husband - Prince Albert - led the development of the Exhibition, which was the first of its kind. It was a bit like a giant museum, full of interesting objects from around the world.
The Great Exhibition was held in London' s Hyde Park in a building that soon became known as the Crystal Palace because of the amount of glass used to build it - and it attracted people from all over the country.
Historical sources like diaries, letters, newspaper articles and pictures tell us about the Great Exhibition. They give us a good idea of what a 'day out' at the Exhibition was like.
Mary Smith, a school-teacher from Oxfordshire, wrote about her visit to the Great Exhibition.
Mary Smith: The time came that we started off on a week' s excursion to London, to see this latest wonder of the world. We travelled, as everyone did, by an 'excursion train' , the first I had experience of, and all our party were very weary of it.
Narrator: Visitors even came from overseas, from as far away as America, China, Trinidad, Australia, India and Ceylon. Less well-off people like Mary Smith went on cheap ticket days, which were very popular.
Mary Smith: Country folks as we were, we naturally made the Exhibition our first object, setting off for Hyde Park directly after breakfast to be there when the doors opened. We went with the common people on the shilling day.
Narrator: It seemed as though everyone was there. If you were really lucky, you might even bump into the Queen herself on one of her many visits.
Queen Victoria: After breakfast we left for the Exhibition. It looked so beautiful this wonderful creation of my beloved Albert's.
Narrator: Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice In Wonderland, found the Great Exhibition very exciting. He wrote that:
Lewis Carroll: The impression when you get inside is of bewilderment. It looks like a sort of fairyland. Far as you can look in any direction, you see nothing but pillars hung about with shawls, carpets, canopies …
Walter Bagehot (coughing and interrupting): The only accurate idea I can give you of the Exhibition is that it is a great fair under a cucumber frame.
Narrator: Walter Bagehot, a journalist and banker, recorded his experience of the Great Exhibition in a letter that he wrote to his mother.
Walter Bagehot: The form of the building is that of a cross, the long stroke being called the nave, and the short stroke the transept. In the exact centre is a stunning fountain made of glass.
Narrator: The Crystal Palace covered an area equivalent to 15 football pitches. It was over 30 metres high and several trees that stood on the site were not sawn down, but were covered by the huge building rather like pot plants in a giant conservatory.
An average of 42,000 visitors from all classes of society came to the Exhibition each day.
Reporter: There were honest fellows in corduroys, agricultural labourers in smock frocks, and rural folk in their full dress of velveteen, with their sweethearts in bright-coloured shawls of scarlet and green.
It was amusing to observe the amazement of these good folks as they entered, and the bewildered look of their upturned wondering eyes gazing up at the roof of the building in stunned and staggered astonishment.
Narrator: There were over 100,000 objects on display.
Exhibits from Britain and its colonies filled one half of the building, and the rest of the world, the other half.
The famous author, Charlotte Brontë, could not believe her eyes.
Charlotte Brontë: Whatever human industry has created, you find there! Railway engines and boilers, mill machinery, splendid carriages of all kinds, glass-covered stands loaded with the most gorgeous work of gold and silver smiths, carefully guarded caskets full of real diamonds and pearls worth thousands of pounds.
Narrator: In the British section, there were manufactured goods such as silk and cotton, cutlery, hand tools and surgical instruments and much more.
Official Guides were employed to show the more well-off visitors around.
Guide: Among the more unusual items to be found at the Exhibition are the following: a piano that four people can play at once, furniture made from papier mâché, a bed that turns into a life-raft, a penknife with eighty blades, a dressing table that doubles up as a fire escape…
Narrator: In the British Machinery Section, there were cranes, lighthouse lamps and huge presses. Mary Smith was intrigued.

He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range. "Look!" she said. "I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or less. And my birthday is coming up. You could surprise me." So, for her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale. Services will be at Downing Funeral Home on Monday the 12th. Due to the condition of the body, this will be a closed casket service. THE HOPE OF HEAVEN: CHRIST WILL SWALLOW UP DEATH FOREVER
Isaiah 25:6-9 (ESV) On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. Nachdem die Ehefrau des Oxforder Kriminalinspektors Robert Lewis bei einem Autounfall ums Leben gekommen ist, hat sich Lewis, der ehemals der Assistent des legendären Inspektor Morse gewesen ist, für zwei Jahre auf die britischen Jungferninseln zurückgezogen.
Nun ist er wieder zurück, um einen ruhigen Ausbilderposten auf Bezirksebene anzunehmen. Doch daraus wird zunächst nichts. Kurz nachdem er von dem jungen Detective Seargent James Hathaway am Flughafen abgeholt worden ist, werden die beiden Kriminalbeamten zu einem Mordfall gerufen. In einem Schlaflabor, das von der Professorin Kate Jekyll geleitet wird, ist die Mathematikstudentin Regan Peverill erschossen worden. Der Verdacht fällt auf ihren Kommilitonen Daniel Griffon. Immerhin benutzte der Täter dessen Türcode. Professor Denniston gibt seinem Studenten Daniel für die Tatzeit aber ein überzeugendes Alibi.
Bei ihren Recherchen rund um die Industriellenfamilie Griffon stoßen Lewis und Hathaway auf Verhältnisse von geradezu shakespeareschem Ausmaß. Daniel nämlich hat seinen Onkel Rex in Verdacht, seinen Vater ermordet zu haben, um mit Daniels Mutter zusammenzuleben. Außerdem gibt es auch noch den Finanzdirektor des Betriebes, Tom Pollock. Dessen Tochter Jessica wiederum ist in Daniel verliebt.
Bevor die beiden Kommissare dazu kommen, all diese Verhältnisse zu überprüfen, überstürzen sich die Ereignisse. Tom Pollock wird ermordet in seinem Wagen aufgefunden, und in einem Ruderboot liegt die Leiche Daniel Griffons. Bei Daniel deuten die Indizien auf Selbstmord hin. Doch einem alten Fuchs wie Inspektor Lewis, dessen kriminalistischer Instinkt längst wieder erwacht ist, kann man nichts vormachen. Auch Daniel wurde ermordet. Nur von wem und warum? Dass alle drei Morde miteinander zusammenhängen, scheint nahe zu liegen. Noch aber fehlen Lewis und Hathaway die Schlüssel zu diesen Morden. Einen Hinweis findet Lewis ausgerechnet in den alten Unterlagen von Inspektor Morse, der seinerzeit den Tod des alten Griffon untersucht hatte. Schließlich ergibt sich mit schier mathematischer Präzision ein Muster, in das alle drei Morde hineinpassen.
