Veterans Crisis Line
The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline and online chat. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1 or chat online to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
National Center for PTSD
Aims to advance the clinical care and social welfare of U.S. Veterans through research, education and training on PTSD and stress-related disorders. The PTSD Information Center has Fact Sheets and Videos to answer questions on trauma, PTSD and related issues.
Give An Hour
You can search by zip code for licensed mental health professionals nation wide who have agreed to provide services in their areas of expertise. By signing up to the Give An Hour website, they have agreed to provide one hour per week of mental health support to a veteran and/or a military family member at no charge. The providers are aware that Give an Hour™ is a nonpolitical organization whose mission is to assist military personnel and their families as they cope with the effects of deployment and combat.
Note: Be aware that while these providers may be highly trained and motivated to help, they do not necessarily have training in working with veterans or working with trauma. As with any provider, you may want to interview them over the telephone to get a sense of how comfortable you feel with the provider before scheduling an appointment.

The GI Rights Hotline provides accurate and helpful military counseling and information on military discharges, AWOL and UA, and GI Rights. The call and the service are?free and confidential.
The Military Law Task Force of The National Lawyers Guild
Its members are attorneys, law students, legal workers (paralegals), jailhouse lawyers, and draft and military counselors (lay advocates) whose work involves military law and policy.
The Task Force coordinates the Guild’s draft, military, veterans and anti-militarist work, and monitors changes in military law and policy. It works closely with the national GI Rights Hotline, the Center on Conscience & War, the Service member’s Legal Defense Network, Iraq Veterans Against the War and other groups, providing training, legal support and resources.

Soldier’s Heart is a veterans’ return and healing project addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of veterans, their families and communities. Soldier’s Heart promotes and guides community-based efforts to heal the effects of war based on strategies presented in “War and the Soul” by Dr. Edward Tick. Soldier’s Heart offers healing retreats, clinical consultations, workshops, veteran to veteran mentoring, and college campus events.

The Coming Home Project is a non-profit organization providing holistic services for veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, their families, and their service providers. We are a multidisciplinary and inclusive collaborative of psychotherapists, veterans, family members, and interfaith leaders committed to improving the psychological, emotional, spiritual, and relationship challenges faced by OIF/OEF service members and veterans, family members, and service provider during all stages of deployment. (pre-deployment, during, and reintegration). They provide free retreats around the country for veterans, family members, and providers. In addition they have counseling available for veterans in the San Francisco area.
