Margaret Official Trailer!
A 17-year-old
Manhattan student,
Lisa Cohen, shopping on the
Upper West Side, interacts with bus driver
Gerald Maretti as she runs alongside his moving bus; he allows himself to become distracted, leading to a fatal accident by missing a red light, in which a pedestrian,
Monica Patterson, is hit by the bus and subsequently dies in Lisa's arms. Initially, Lisa reports to the police that the driver had a green traffic signal, but later, out of remorse, changes her story. She confronts Maretti, who first pretends to have forgotten the details of the accident, and then reveals to her in anger that he does remember them, but believes he did nothing wrong, causing Lisa to pursue his firing from the company with passion. In collaboration with Monica's best friend,
Emily, and cousin,
Abigail, Lisa ultimately becomes involved in a wrongful death lawsuit against the
Metropolitan Transit Authority, seeking the dismissal of the driver (who is revealed to have caused two previous accidents), as well as monetary damages, which would be awarded to the victim's next of kin, her cousin.
Meanwhile, Lisa's life takes various turns, including a flirtation with her math teacher,
Aaron Caije, her decision to lose her virginity to a classmate,
Paul Hirsch, and various vehement debates about politics and terrorism with classmates.

Margaret was found by someone all alone in the yard of a trailer in a trailer park in
Warner Robins. The rescuer said that she was just skin and bones, so she took care of her for nearly two weeks. When she realized that Miss Margaret had more problems than she had resources, her vet suggested she call us.

Debbie (at the
Humane Society of
Houston County) took her this past Monday for a consult at the
Auburn University Vet clinic to see if surgery would be an option to help her. They said it would not be, but a cart would be very good for her. She is incontinent (and these carts make it very easy for them to urinate while using them).
Auburn says she may be able to eventually do some "spinal walking" which is a clumsy walk that dogs can do sometimes just totally by reflex, not her controlling it.
Bottom line, this is a call for a chip in. We have to raise at least
...AT LEAST $400.00 just for the cart and things to go with it. Funds for medical costs are also needed. Miss Margaret is FULL OF
LIFE. She is sweet and loving and just needs some help.

"Publishing" originally meant simply to make public. That meaning, and the processes and technologies by which "publishing" has taken place, has changed radically over the years, and is in the process of changing yet again. The pie—the author and work, and the packaging and sale of the latter—has been divided up in various ways through the years, with bigger and smaller pieces for accordingly.
We are now in the midst of the largest publishing changes and challenges since
Gutenberg. How will they affect the author? What tools are newly available to him/her? One author's view, illustrated with her own drawings.
