GENDER INEQUALITY PSA (Gr7 Media Project) Music: "Human" by Christina Perri Gender inequality happens throughout the world, it refers to unequal treatment of individuals based on their gender. Gender inequality is one of the biggest inequalities throughout the world. It may have reduced by a large percentage, but that doesn't mean it's gone. Who is a man and who is woman? Are we not one, no where near equal? A woman can do just as much as a man, but not get as much as interest a man can get. The 1.4 people around the world only getting paid $1.25 or less are 70% women. We want this to stop. We want a woman to have just as much as privilege that a man has. That's the cause of this PSA, so gender inequality can stop. THE PROCESS Getting all the important facts about gender inequality, wasn't that easy. We had to research and find out the issues throughout it.We had to find out what was happening around the world, why gender inequality still happens to this day. So we put our facts together and we want to share it. Recording the videos and the voice over was no easy task. We had to stand in the cold for hours and record, but we guess it was all worth it. We want our message to be heard. So we stood along a brick wall and expressed the inequality happening around the world just in this very moment. We held up our signs with facts written on them, facts that needed to be heard and shared. Maybe us freezing out in cold might just actually helped in a way. OUR OPINIONS we give this assignment a 9 out of 10. We all liked the concept of it and all the ideas and facts we got to share. We think our idea was different. We wanted to give everyone something to reflect on, if gender inequality is right or wrong. We did all like it in the end. We got to watch ourselves try to help the world. Though it would have worked way better if the weather had cooperated with us, but we anticipate that our message will leave you thinking. - Anushai, Isha, Breanna and Brianna. SCRIPT Anushai, Breanna, Breanna & Isha Breanna: Do we all have to look the same and have the same genderto have equal rights? Isha: Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment of individuals based on their gender. Anushai: It’s one of the biggest inequalities throughout the world. Brianna: Did you know that – woman make up half of the world’s population, yet represent 70% of the world’s poor. Breanna: 64%same as two thirds of illiterate adults are women. Isha: Guess what? Women own 1% of the world’s assets and on average men typically make $95,000 yearly when women make only $60,000. Anushai: 60% of the 750,000 teens dropped out of high school due to pregnancies. Brianna: 40% of the teen girls in US finished high school and only 7% went to college. Breanna: Up to 3 million women in UK experience rape, domestic violence, stalking or other violence each year. Isha: The US has the highest teen dropout rate and teen pregnancies. Globally, 10 million more girls have dropped out of high school than boys. Brianna: Everyday, 39000 girls are forced into early marriage. That’s 27 girls a minute. Brianna: We demand the independence of women. Breanna: The right to support ourselves. Isha: To live for ourselves. Anushai: We demand freedom of action. WOMEN IN POWER = GREATER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRLS’ EDUCATION, HEALTH AND EQUALITY.

Her empowering talk speaks to men and women alike, challenging us all to help create the shift from one of blame to one of action through engagement and curiosity. Janet Crawford is Principal of Cascadance and Founder of the Women and Innovation Lab. Huffington Post 2015-04-05Gender inequality refers to disparity between individuals due to gender. Gender is constructed both socially through social interactions as well as biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal differences.Gender systems are often dichotomous and hierarchical; binary gender systems may reflect the inequalities that manifest in numerous dimensions of daily life. Gender inequality stems from distinctions, whether empirically grounded or socially constructed. (On differences between the sexes, see Sex and psychology.)
Gender is socially constructed through numerous sources, such as the media portraying women playing with dolls and wearing pink; men typically have to be more masculine or their sexuality will be questioned. This is different from the biological sex of a person, which is based on their genitalia. However, the process of assigning a gender to an individual starts from birth once the sex of the baby is determined. Baby girls are wrapped in pink and boys in blue, stereotypical girl and boy colors.
