AZM can mean:
Sadiq Jalal Al-Azm (Arabic: صادق جلال العظم) (born in 1934) is a Professor Emeritus of Modern European Philosophy at the University of Damascus in Syria and was, until 2007, a visiting professor in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. Thus far, his main area of specialization has been the work of German philosopher Immanuel Kant, but he now places a greater emphasis upon the Islamic world and its relationship to the West, evidenced by his contribution to the discourse of Orientalism. Al-Azm is also known as a human rights advocate and a champion of intellectual freedom and free speech.
Al-Azm was born in Damascus, Syria, into the prominent Al-Azm family. He grew up in the well-known Damascene Sunni land-owning family of Al-Azm. The Al-Azm family rose to prominence in the eighteenth century under the rule of the Ottoman Empire in Greater Syria, which was acquired in 1516 by the cosmopolitan Turkish Empire.
Al-Azm was schooled in Beirut, Lebanon, earning a B.A. in Philosophy from the American University of Beirut in 1957. Al-Azm earned an M.A. in 1959 and a Ph.D. in 1961 from Yale University, majoring in Modern European Philosophy.
Averroes (/əˈvɛroʊˌiːz/; April 14, 1126 – December 10, 1198) is the Latinized form of Ibn Rushd (Arabic: ابن رشد), full name ʾAbū l-Walīd Muḥammad Ibn ʾAḥmad Ibn Rušd (أبو الوليد محمد ابن احمد ابن رشد), a medieval Andalusian polymath. He wrote on logic, Aristotelian and Islamic philosophy, theology, the Maliki school of Islamic jurisprudence, psychology, political and Andalusian classical music theory, geography, mathematics, and the mediæval sciences of medicine, astronomy, physics, and celestial mechanics. Averroes was born in Córdoba, Al Andalus (present-day Spain), and died at Marrakesh in present-day Morocco. His body was interred in his family tomb at Córdoba. The 13th-century philosophical movement based on Averroes's work is called Averroism.
Averroes was a defender of Aristotelian philosophy against Ash'ari theologians led by Al-Ghazali. Although highly regarded as a legal scholar of the Maliki school of Islamic law, Averroes's philosophical ideas were considered controversial in Ash'arite Muslim circles. Whereas al-Ghazali believed that any individual act of a natural phenomenon occurred only because God willed it to happen, Averroes insisted phenomena followed natural laws that God created.
Douglas Herbert meets Syrian philosopher and writer Sadiq Jalal al-Azm to discuss the explosive mix of religion and politics in the Arab world. His guest has first-hand knowledge of how touchy the subject is. He himself was briefly jailed in 1970 after writing a groundbreaking book on the Six-Day War. He argued back then that the Arab defeat was due, in part, to their leaders' failure to rethink the role of religion in society. But before he could see his own people free, the Syrian legacy died on Dec. 11 in Berlin, Germany. By: Souzan Salma https://www.facebook.com/pg/OrientNewsEn/videos/
The rise of the Islamic State and the internationalization of the Syrian War have led many to overlook the uprising in Syria, which started in 2011. It saw large numbers of Syrians taking it down to the street in the context of the Arab Springs. The regional aspects of the Syrian crisis involving Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran are well known as are its international ramifications involving Russia, The United States and the refugee situation faced by the EU. Sadik al-Azm, who was forced to leave Damascus in the aftermath of the civil war, will bring a Syrian perspective to the perceptions and analyses within Syria and explicate the aspirations and assessments which led – and still lead – so many Syrians to revolt and fight.

Islamists want to regain control of all of the issues in everyday life, says Syrian philosopher Sadik Al-Azm. There might not be an end to violence not that a reactionary movement exists. This movement wants to retrieve what has been lost, instead of pursue progressive and new ways to live Islam today.
I saw you in a way
But that’s another life
Maybe they’re the same
I wonder where you are
Yesterday is gone
But it ain’t far away
I guess it’s far enough
I’m older in my head
My innocents is gone
I have the book you read
To help me carry on
What a price to pay
To feel like you’re alive
I was blind when he said
It’s all the same
No matter where you are x3
He said
But he was wrong
I’m your jezebel
On my way to hell
What a price to pay
To feel like you’re alive
She was blind
When she said
It’s all the same
No matter where you are x3
She said
But she was wrong
