MorePeople can chart various hypothetical scenarios for future Israeli-Palestinian relations. But scenarios are not solutions. Ultimately, the two-state solution is and will remain the only solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Yes, changes on the ground and in the political sphere make reaching a two-state solution harder every day. But facts on the ground are not irreversible, and political calculations on both sides can – and ultimately will have to – change.
The Obama Administration should start by bringing an Israeli-Palestinian two-state resolution – grounded in the Clinton Parameters – to the United Nations Security Council, or by working with other UNSC members in support of such a resolution or some similar initiative.
