In this video I am playing a Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit. This kit is a great value for the beginning drummer because you get some nice hardware and cymbals along with the drums. Gretsch has been in the musical instrument business since the 1800's and are well respected for their sound and quality. Even though these drums are made for the new drummer in mind, they still come with that great Gretsch sound due to the drum shells and their bearing edges. Gretsch wants to inspire you to play and keep improving. If you have a great drum sound in front of you then it sure makes it easier and more fun to get to the next level.
Great Gretsch sound
These drums sport 7-ply poplar shells that have 30-degree bearing edges. You get 7" x 10" and 8" x 12" rack toms, a 14" x 16" floor tom, an 18" x 22" bass drum, and a 5.5" x 14" snare drum. Plus the nice feature of 5-lug configurations on the 10" and 12" rack toms. All of those things add up to that special Gretsch sound. Especially the 30-degree bearing edges. Most drums these days have 45-degree edges. That is by no means a bad thing; in fact, it gets great tone from the right drum. Gretsch typically give their drums a 30-degree edge. Even their high end drums. It gives the drums a bit more warmth to their sound because the the surface area between the hoop and shell is maximized. The sharper the edge, the more attack you get so with the edge a little rounder and a little less angled you get a nice rich drum sound. The slightly shallower sizes of the rack toms are also a nice feature especially if the person playing these drums happens to be a kid, or an adult for the matter, that is not very tall. The rack toms can get set low to the kick drum for a very comfortable set up.
Everything you need
With this package you also get some nice double-braced hardware and cymbals. It comes with a snare stand, a straight stand, a hideaway boom stand, and a chain drive hi-hat stand with a redesigned footboard. The kick drum pedal has been upgraded with easily adjustable beater angle adjustment, a smooth footboard, and a two-way beater. The only piece of hardware that does not come with this package is the drum throne.
You can have a drum set without cymbals, but that is like having peanut butter without the jelly. It's possible but not nearly as good. With this package you also get a set of Sabian SBR cymbals: 13" hi-hats, a 16" crash, and a 20" ride. The cymbals have a bright shimmer to their sound, and are a nice compliment to these drums.
I have to mention how cool this drum kit looks. It comes with a black PVC wrap that looks great under stage lights. There are also Gretsch mini lugs, a branded ball/socket tom holder, and stylized Gretsch Energy pedal boards.
This Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit is great value for the money. It sounds good, and you get everything you need (except for the drum throne) to get playing. The quality, sound, and long history of Gretsch will inspire you to make great music. Thanks for watching!

In this video I'm playing the Broadkaster four-piece drum kit from Gretsch Drums, and they've got an extremely vintage vibe. That's mostly thanks to the three-ply shells, composed of maple/poplar/maple layers. It's an old-school combination Gretsch has been using for years, and sounds nicely warm and round. That tone also comes in part from the 30-degree bearing edges, another classic component of the Gretsch drum sound.
The hardware is great quality and looks sweet too - overall, the entire kit looks great. This drum set comes with a 22" bass drum, a 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, and a 6.5" x 14" snare drum. Just add cymbals and stands, and you've got a great kit for recording or performance. Thanks for watching!

Gretsch Drums is a drum kit manufacturing company, based in Oxnard, California. The company is part of The Gretsch Company range of musical instruments from its founding in 1883. Gretsch drums kits have been used by many notable drummers, including Gene Krupa and Phil Collins.
Current's company motto is "That Great Gretsch Sound!"
History
Gretsch was founded by Friedrich Gretsch, a German immigrant who opened his own musical instrument business based in Brooklyn, New York in 1883. After Friedrich's sudden death in 1895, his enterprising son, Fred Gretsch Jr., took over the business as a teenager. He expanded the business, moving it to a new ten-story building at 60 Broadway Street.
Fred Gretsch Jr. handed over the family business to his son, Fred Gretsch III, after retiring in 1942. Soon after taking over, Fred III left to serve in WWII as a Navy commander, leaving the business in the hands of his younger brother, William "Bill" Gretsch. Bill Gretsch died in 1948 and the company was again run by Fred III.

Vinnie Colaiuta
Vincent "Vinnie" Colaiuta (born February 5, 1956) is an American drummer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Republic, Pennsylvania, he began playing drums as a child and received his first full drum kit from his parents at the age of fourteen. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1996.
Career
After attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston for a year, Colaiuta had his first big break as a member of the Christopher Morris Band in 1976–77. In 1977, he relocated with the band to Los Angeles. After leaving the band, he played with lounge bands. His next break came in April 1978, after auditioning for Frank Zappa. The audition entailed performing "The Black Page". Colaiuta went on to work with Zappa as his principal drummer for studio and live performances. He played on the successful Zappa albums Tinsel Town Rebellion, Joe's Garage, and Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar. Joe's Garage was named one of the top-25 drumming performances of all time in a 1993 Modern Drummer article.

Hey everybody, today I'm trying out the Catalina Maple 7-piece acoustic drum kit from Gretsch Drums. The kit I'm playing has the Black Bronze Sparkle finish, which looks outstanding under stage lights. I really dig this kit: the drums tune easily, and you get lots of drums for lots of tonal variety. Like all Gretsch Drums, these have 30-degree bearing edges which give them that characteristic Gretsch sound. Combined with the maple shells, you get a nice warm tone that still has a defined attack. With a kick, snare, three rack toms and two floor toms, there's a lot of potential in this drum kit. In this video I'm playing the Broadkaster four-piece drum kit from Gretsch Drums, and they've got an extremely vintage vibe. That's mostly thanks to the three-ply shells, composed of maple/poplar/maple layers. It's an old-school combination Gretsch has been using for years, and sounds nicely warm and round. That tone also comes in part from the 30-degree bearing edges, another classic component of the Gretsch drum sound. The hardware is great quality and looks sweet too - overall, the entire kit looks great. This drum set comes with a 22" bass drum, a 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, and a 6.5" x 14" snare drum. In this video I am playing a Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit. This kit is a great value for the beginning drummer because you get some nice hardware and cymbals along with the drums. Gretsch has been in the musical instrument business since the 1800's and are well respected for their sound and quality. Even though these drums are made for the new drummer in mind, they still come with that great Gretsch sound due to the drum shells and their bearing edges. Gretsch wants to inspire you to play and keep improving. If you have a great drum sound in front of you then it sure makes it easier and more fun to get to the next level.
Great Gretsch sound
These drums sport 7-ply poplar shells that have 30-degree bearing edges. You get 7" x 10" and 8" x 12" rack toms, a 14" x 16" floor tom, an 18" x 22" bass drum, and a 5.5" x 14" snare drum. Plus the nice feature of 5-lug configurations on the 10" and 12" rack toms. All of those things add up to that special Gretsch sound. Especially the 30-degree bearing edges. Most drums these days have 45-degree edges. That is by no means a bad thing; in fact, it gets great tone from the right drum. Gretsch typically give their drums a 30-degree edge. Even their high end drums. It gives the drums a bit more warmth to their sound because the the surface area between the hoop and shell is maximized. The sharper the edge, the more attack you get so with the edge a little rounder and a little less angled you get a nice rich drum sound. The slightly shallower sizes of the rack toms are also a nice feature especially if the person playing these drums happens to be a kid, or an adult for the matter, that is not very tall. The rack toms can get set low to the kick drum for a very comfortable set up.
Everything you need
With this package you also get some nice double-braced hardware and cymbals. It comes with a snare stand, a straight stand, a hideaway boom stand, and a chain drive hi-hat stand with a redesigned footboard. The kick drum pedal has been upgraded with easily adjustable beater angle adjustment, a smooth footboard, and a two-way beater. The only piece of hardware that does not come with this package is the drum throne.
You can have a drum set without cymbals, but that is like having peanut butter without the jelly. It's possible but not nearly as good. With this package you also get a set of Sabian SBR cymbals: 13" hi-hats, a 16" crash, and a 20" ride. The cymbals have a bright shimmer to their sound, and are a nice compliment to these drums.
I have to mention how cool this drum kit looks. It comes with a black PVC wrap that looks great under stage lights. There are also Gretsch mini lugs, a branded ball/socket tom holder, and stylized Gretsch Energy pedal boards.
This Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit is great value for the money. It sounds good, and you get everything you need (except for the drum throne) to get playing. The quality, sound, and long history of Gretsch will inspire you to make great music. Thanks for watching!

In this video I am playing on a Gretsch Brooklyn series 4-piece drum kit. This amazing drum kit really gives off a vintage vibe and feel. From the look to the tone you can just tell that there is a great history to the drums, even though they come out of todays modern manufacturing. Gretsch drums were born in Brooklyn way back in the 1800's and their sound has stood the test of time. Gretsch drums are some of the most recorded in music history. The famous quote "That Great Gretsch Sound" definitely applies to this kit. It sounds great and looks great too!
The Gretsch Brooklyn 4-piece shell pack comes with 6-ply maple/poplar shells that have 30 degree bearing edges. You get 7" x 10" and 8" x 12" rack toms, a 14" x 16" floor tom, and an 18" x 22" kick drum. The drums have the same hardware that comes on the USA custom drums, such as 3mm double-flanged metal "302" hoops, USA Custom lugs, and the GTS tom mounting system. On the inside of the drum shells is the classic Gretsch Silver Sealer. The icing on the cake is the extremely cool looking Cream Oyster wrap.

In this video I'm playing the Broadkaster four-piece drum kit from Gretsch Drums, and they've got an extremely vintage vibe. That's mostly thanks to the three-ply shells, composed of maple/poplar/maple layers. It's an old-school combination Gretsch has been using for years, and sounds nicely warm and round. That tone also comes in part from the 30-degree bearing edges, another classic component of the Gretsch drum sound.
The hardware is great quality and looks sweet too - overall, the entire kit looks great. This drum set comes with a 22" bass drum, a 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, and a 6.5" x 14" snare drum. Just add cymbals and stands, and you've got a great kit for recording or performance. Thanks for watching!

Hey everybody, today I'm trying out the Catalina Maple 7-piece acoustic drum kit from Gretsch Drums. The kit I'm playing has the Black Bronze Sparkle finish, which looks outstanding under stage lights. I really dig this kit: the drums tune easily, and you get lots of drums for lots of tonal variety.
Like all Gretsch Drums, these have 30-degree bearing edges which give them that characteristic Gretsch sound. Combined with the maple shells, you get a nice warm tone that still has a defined attack.

Gretsch Drums Broadkaster 4-piece Drum Set Review by Sweetwater
In this video I'm playing the Broadkaster four-piece drum kit from Gretsch Drums, and they've got an extremely vintage vibe. That's mostly thanks to the three-ply shells, composed of maple/poplar/maple layers. It's an old-school combination Gretsch has been using for years, and sounds nicely warm and round. That tone also comes in part from the 30-degree bearing edges, another classic component of the Gretsch drum sound. The hardware is great quality and looks sweet too - overall, the entire kit looks great. This drum set comes with a 22" bass drum, a 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, and a 6.5" x 14" snare drum. Gretsch Drums Catalina Maple 7-piece Drum Kit Review by Sweetwater
Hey everybody, today I'm trying out the Catalina Maple 7-piece acoustic drum kit from Gretsch Drums. The kit I'm playing has the Black Bronze Sparkle finish, which looks outstanding under stage lights. I really dig this kit: the drums tune easily, and you get lots of drums for lots of tonal variety. Like all Gretsch Drums, these have 30-degree bearing edges which give them that characteristic Gretsch sound. Combined with the maple shells, you get a nice warm tone that still has a defined attack. With a kick, snare, three rack toms and two floor toms, there's a lot of potential in this drum kit. In this video I am playing a Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit. This kit is a great value for the beginning drummer because you get some nice hardware and cymbals along with the drums. Gretsch has been in the musical instrument business since the 1800's and are well respected for their sound and quality. Even though these drums are made for the new drummer in mind, they still come with that great Gretsch sound due to the drum shells and their bearing edges. Gretsch wants to inspire you to play and keep improving. If you have a great drum sound in front of you then it sure makes it easier and more fun to get to the next level.
Great Gretsch sound
These drums sport 7-ply poplar shells that have 30-degree bearing edges. You get 7" x 10" and 8" x 12" rack toms, a 14" x 16" floor tom, an 18" x 22" bass drum, and a 5.5" x 14" snare drum. Plus the nice feature of 5-lug configurations on the 10" and 12" rack toms. All of those things add up to that special Gretsch sound. Especially the 30-degree bearing edges. Most drums these days have 45-degree edges. That is by no means a bad thing; in fact, it gets great tone from the right drum. Gretsch typically give their drums a 30-degree edge. Even their high end drums. It gives the drums a bit more warmth to their sound because the the surface area between the hoop and shell is maximized. The sharper the edge, the more attack you get so with the edge a little rounder and a little less angled you get a nice rich drum sound. The slightly shallower sizes of the rack toms are also a nice feature especially if the person playing these drums happens to be a kid, or an adult for the matter, that is not very tall. The rack toms can get set low to the kick drum for a very comfortable set up.
Everything you need
With this package you also get some nice double-braced hardware and cymbals. It comes with a snare stand, a straight stand, a hideaway boom stand, and a chain drive hi-hat stand with a redesigned footboard. The kick drum pedal has been upgraded with easily adjustable beater angle adjustment, a smooth footboard, and a two-way beater. The only piece of hardware that does not come with this package is the drum throne.
You can have a drum set without cymbals, but that is like having peanut butter without the jelly. It's possible but not nearly as good. With this package you also get a set of Sabian SBR cymbals: 13" hi-hats, a 16" crash, and a 20" ride. The cymbals have a bright shimmer to their sound, and are a nice compliment to these drums.
I have to mention how cool this drum kit looks. It comes with a black PVC wrap that looks great under stage lights. There are also Gretsch mini lugs, a branded ball/socket tom holder, and stylized Gretsch Energy pedal boards.
This Gretsch Energy Series 5-piece kit is great value for the money. It sounds good, and you get everything you need (except for the drum throne) to get playing. The quality, sound, and long history of Gretsch will inspire you to make great music. Thanks for watching!

In this video I'm playing the Broadkaster four-piece drum kit from Gretsch Drums, and they've got an extremely vintage vibe. That's mostly thanks to the three-ply shells, composed of maple/poplar/maple layers. It's an old-school combination Gretsch has been using for years, and sounds nicely warm and round. That tone also comes in part from the 30-degree bearing edges, another classic component of the Gretsch drum sound.
The hardware is great quality and looks sweet too - overall, the entire kit looks great. This drum set comes with a 22" bass drum, a 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, and a 6.5" x 14" snare drum. Just add cymbals and stands, and you've got a great kit for recording or performance. Thanks for watching!

Hey everybody, today I'm trying out the Catalina Maple 7-piece acoustic drum kit from Gretsch Drums. The kit I'm playing has the Black Bronze Sparkle finish, which looks outstanding under stage lights. I really dig this kit: the drums tune easily, and you get lots of drums for lots of tonal variety.
Like all Gretsch Drums, these have 30-degree bearing edges which give them that characteristic Gretsch sound. Combined with the maple shells, you get a nice warm tone that still has a defined attack.

Un músico que en los últimos años se a creado un hueco entre los bateristas top a nivel mundial, y no es para menos después de lo que pudimos ver con nuestros propios ojos.

What's up drummers! Thanks for checking out another great episode of the drummers I like podcast! Rich and Kevin have a great talk this week about some things that have been going on in the drummers community and also some Drummers I Like news for things that are in the works! Some of the main points to check out are Kevin's ideas on building his own E-Cymbal for electronic drum kits, some great ways to help create better videos to showcase your unique playing skills in a world of social media, and the importance of self-promotion for drummers.
Kevin has been brainstorming for some time now and is ready to delve into the world of homemade e-kits. He's been working to find some solutions to what it would take to build his own e-cymbals (electronic drum cymbals) as an addition to his Roland v-drum set. His kit has more than a few tired pads. He briefly explains some of his ideas of materials it will take to build and some of the basic steps to wire everything correctly. It all sounds like it should work pretty well so we can't wait to bring more news about how the first build of E-cymbals will turn out. If all go's well you can expect some tutorial videos on how to take advantage of this D.I.Y. way to add more sounds to your e-kit on a budget. Kevin should know this topic well. He's always on a budget!
Rich gets into his weekend of cleaning up and setting up his acoustic drums. Always a task that we all all get excited for then loose enthusiasm about an hour into the project. But Rich endured and got his DW performance series 8x14 snare drum looking amazing and rest of his Shine kit as well. He describes some of the cleaning products he used to get his drums back in tip top shape. Rich also describes his tuning process for that snare and he and Kevin get into a good discussion about Vater Buzzkills and how they stack up against some of the other companies out there that are making a similar drum dampening products.
The guys also get into some new Drummers I Like news as well with the announcement that the next guest on the podcast will be...(drum roll please). Mr. Steve Carey drummer of The Color Morale. Steve is an excellent drummer and we cant wait to have a chat with him. Rich talks about his thoughts on Steve and we are very excited to have him come on with us. Make sure to email or contact us if you have any questions for Steve when we have him on the show. They also talk a bit about Rich's trip to Florida this week for a much-needed vacation to celebrate his sons 2nd birthday. Kevin and Rich really look forward to seeing each other as it has been close to a year since that's happened so we should see some good drumming footage of Rich and Kevin hanging out at Kevin's rehearsal space. Rich should enjoy some quality time behind some acoustic drums as long he can contest with Kevin's tall guy with long arms setup. We think he should be cool though!
Some other big drumming news that happened this week was the announcement by Gretsch drums. They have announced that none other than Vinnie Colaiuta has come back home to Gretsch drums. We hear at Drummers I Like were very happy to hear Vinnie has gone back to Gretsch. Rich and Kevin talk a bit about the announcement and Kevin attempts to clear up some misinformation that has been pretty widespread in the drumming community about the partnership between Gretsch and DW drums. Kevin plays Gretsch himself and has always considered himself a fan of their products and business practices. That brings their discussion into the partnership between the two companies and how it can only mean good things for the legendary American drum builders!

El teatro quedo en silencio, solo para explotar en aplausos cuando Josh terminaba sus canciones, entre ellas algunas de su banda Paris Monster. Esperamos volverlo a ver por Sevilla lo antes posible.

Gretsch Guitars are perhaps most associated with the twangy, hollowbody instruments played by Duane Eddy and Eddie Cochran, although they also include the Jet range of solid body electric guitars.
Founded in Brooklyn in 1883 by German immigrant Friedrich Gretsch, the company originally made banjos, tambourines and drums before branching out into guitars. Highly sought after in the 1950s and '60s, the company lost favour in the '70s before a resurgence in the '90s. In 2002 Fender took over the marketing, production and distribution of the guitars, but the company is still owned by the Gretsch family.
The Electromatic range is a great place to start with these classic instruments, or if you're looking for something truly special then the Professional collection is sure to have something to catch your eye. Gretsch have recently introduced their Streamliner collection that offers versatile playability and modern features.
