Christopher Duncan "Chris" Turk, M.D., is a fictional character played by Donald Faison on the American comedy-drama Scrubs. Turk has appeared in every episode except three Season 8 episodes, "My Saving Grace", "My New Role" and "My Lawyer's in Love". Donald Faison is the only original cast member, besides John C. McGinley, that returns for season nine as a regular cast member.
Commonly known by his surname, "Turk" is the best friend and former roommate of the series' protagonist, J.D (Zach Braff). Turk roomed with J.D. at the College of William and Mary and at medical school, and the two have an extremely close relationship, which is best described in the season 6 episode My Musical as "Guy love". J.D. claims that Turk's middle name is such because his father loved doughnuts.
Starting in season one as a surgical intern, he worked his way up to attending surgeon (season 3) and later the chief of surgery (seasons 8 and 9) at Sacred Heart Hospital, where the series takes place. In season one, he began dating and at the end of season 3 married to Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes), the Head Nurse. He and Carla have a toddler daughter, Isabella ("Izzy"), as well as another daughter mentioned in season 8 and 9. He could have a son, who is shown in season 8 finale "My Finale", when J.D. visualizes a film on his future.

Before his debut on Scrubs and "Clueless", Faison appeared in a 1991 commercial for Folgers Coffee at the age of 17, in which he played the younger brother of a soldier returning from war. He then became famous for his role as "Murray Lawrence Duvall" in the film Clueless, the 1995 movie, and its subsequent television series, which ran from 1996 to 1999. In 1995, he also appeared in Waiting to Exhale as "Tarik", the son of Loretta Devine's character, "Gloria." He was featured in New Jersey Drive. He also starred in Big Fat Liar alongside Frankie Muniz, Paul Giamatti, and Amanda Bynes. Elliot Reid, M.D. is a fictional character played by Sarah Chalke in the American comedy-drama Scrubs. She has appeared in every episode during the first eight seasons except two Season 8 episodes, "My Last Words" and "My Lawyer's in Love".
Sarah Chalke was a regular cast member for the first eight seasons, and appeared in four episodes of season nine. Elliot was a close friend and a frequent love interest to series protagonist John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff) for the first eight seasons, and in season 9 was his wife. Her character is portrayed with multiple neuroses and cripplingly low self-esteem. She is also close to Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes) and Christopher Turk (Donald Faison), the series' other chief characters.
She is the daughter of Simon and Lily Reid (Lane Davies and Markie Post), and is of German descent. Her father is Chief of Medicine at St. Augustines, a private hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut. She grew up privileged but love-starved; she once attributed her many neuroses to the way she was treated by her parents. Her mother is a cold, self-absorbed alcoholic, and her father attempts to interfere with her career, eventually cutting her off financially after he tries to push her into specializing in gynaecology, a career path she refuses. Elliot also has several brothers who are also doctors, but are never portrayed on the show.
