A collection of mostly audio and some video media which captured preaching of the word at
Bethel UP
Church in Old Westbury, NY . Bethel UP
Church is not responsible for it's content nor can they be held liable for any such content that is displayed on this channel. I can safely say that the leaders and congregation of Bethel would not agree with all of the content and doctrine that might be reflected here.
I am a former member of this church who still loves this church, although I don't agree with all of the doctrine which they preach. In my opinion, this church fairly reflects the values we seek as Christians with regard to modesty for Christians and living our lives by walking in the
Spirit.
My main
point of contention with
UPC in general is the doctrine of speaking with tongues. No where does it say in the word that speaking with tongues is evidence of the
Holy Spirit, nor is a requirement for salvation. Also, UPC and it's general superintendent regard persons who have not spoken in tongues as "not saved", and those not baptized in
Jesus' name, also as "not saved". I don't believe it is proper or biblical to judge the salvation of other
Christian sects, or pronounce others' doctrine as "being in darkness" because it doesn't agree with the specifics of their own doctrine. This is right out of the dark ages.
I believe in the oneness of God, but disagree that the so called members of the "trinity" which is a point of disagreement by UPC is significant in light of the fact that no man nor any religion understands the nature of God or His majesty. God has revealed to us what we need for salvation; which is faith in the saving blood of
Jesus Christ. I believe He has saved the best for later. So the
difference between "oneness" and "trinity" is not a point to contend, as it each goes beyond our understanding of this wonderful God,. So wonderful is Our
Lord, in fact that He garbed Himself in flesh and died an awful death to save us and set an example for service to Him.
You will see sampling from other denominations as well, including the
Seventh Day Adventists. I don't agree with their doctrine
100% either, but cannot deny the truths that are revealed by
Doug Batchelor. Needless to say, it would be logistically nightmarish for me to try and edit out items of contention; and I also recognize that what I believe is irrelevant, except to put "out there" the saving grace of Our Lord, and trying to be a light for others by the help of His anointed spirit.
I pray that you find these edifying, and that you will bring to my attention any technical errors in playback of the audio and video portions of the content, such as silent audio or duplication of content within a single message. I thank you for this, and
God bless you in your journey!
