2016 INFORMATION
AS IT HAPPENS! Started in 2004 and has grown every year into the popular light display it is today with a singing dancing polar bear, singing dancing santas who are animated and interactive, 1000s of icicles and bud lights, more and more LEDs, 100s of metres of rope lights strung from the brightly decorated tree to the roof & around the roof and fences. It has a handmade 2m candy cane, LED firework, LED firecracker, LED starbursts, LED curtain, bubble machines, various inflatables including a 3m Santa on the roof, animated 3D reindeers and many motifs/silhouettes. Also, Treats & games with prizes for the kids and young at heart.
A MUST SEE! 8pm-11pm during December. Weekends best for full display if weather favourable.
Santa visits on the Friday & Saturday before Christmas each year (16th & 17th 2016) from 9pmish-10pmish.
The Westmead Children's Hospital was our charity in 2012 and 2013.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is our charity again in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

What is Sydney (sɪdni)?
Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. Found on Australia's east coast, the metropolis surrounds the world's largest natural harbour, and sprawls towards the Blue Mountains to the west.[8] Residents of Sydney are known as "Sydneysiders". 2016 sees the greater metropolitan area approximate population equalling 5 million people.
Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian today launched six new apps which for the first time provide customers with real time information about train services.
The launch comes as the NSW Government prepares for the start on July 1 of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains, the two new rail operators tasked with bringing in a new era of customer service for commuters.
"This Government has been committed to providing customers with more information and the launch of these real time trains apps follows the successful roll out of the real time bus apps in December which have so far been downloaded more than one million times," Ms Berejiklian said.
"The train apps mean customers will know when to leave work or home to meet their train at the station and also provides the information customers need to make decisions about their journeys."
Each of the six apps offers different features for customers and there are free versions, and versions costing up to $2.99. The apps are available from the iTunes Store, Google Play and Windows App Store and include:
• Maps showing trains moving around the network and their destinations;
• Real time locations of trains;
• Predicted arrival times of trains;
• Real time bus information;
• Trip planning and timetable information;
• Service information including track work, cancellations and delays;
• Option to save your favourite routes and stops for convenient access;
• Option to sort trips by time, cost, convenience;
• Wheelchair accessibility information;
• The ability to set a voice-over notification to get off the train

Did some videoing while during the summer holidays, was on holiday in Sydney December 25-30, 2015. Used my phone to record this.
Sydney trains are very well managed and very cheap too. Sydney trains also run on Xmas Day and between 25th December and 5th January. Auckland trains DONT run between 25 December to 5th January, and they don't go to the Airport. Auckland trains do maintenance during this period, despite it being the busiest period for the summer holidays. Sydney trains do run every day. Even on public holidays, there's a train every 15 minutes and were not talking just 2 or 3 carriages, on average there's 8-12 carriages per service, and double decker too, so plenty of room. Sydney Airport train line is very smooth to ride. To get to Bondi Beach you can take the Bondi Junction train line, and catch a bus from Bondi train station to the beach. Bondi Beach shops are good too and there's even a swimming pool at the beach.

Berala, New South Wales
Berala is a western suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, located 20 kilometres west of the central business district, in the local government area of Auburn City.
History
Berala is derived from Bareela, an Aboriginal word for a musk duck. The area was originally swampy and attracted wild birds. When the railway line was being extended from Lidcombe to Regents Park, the names Torrington, Sidmouth and Bareela were considered. The station opened in 1912, the public school in 1924 and the post office in 1927.
Transport
Berala railway station is on the Bankstown Line of the Sydney Trains network. Bus services run between Auburn and Bankstown.
Commercial area
A small group of shops is located beside the railway station. A Woolworths is located next to the train station.
Demographics
According to the 2011 census, there were 8,799 residents in Berala. 39.3% of residents were born in Australia. The most common other countries of birth were China 12.8%, Vietnam 9.0% and Philippines 2.3%. 22.9% of residents spoke only English at home. Other languages spoken at home included Cantonese 16.7%, Mandarin 10.3% and Arabic 8.5%. The most common responses for religious affiliation were Catholic 22.0%, Islam 16.7% and Buddhism 16.0%.

AS IT HAPPENS! Started in 2004 and has grown every year into the popular light display it is today with a singing dancing polar bear, singing dancing santas who are animated and interactive, 1000s of icicles and bud lights, more and more LEDs, 100s of metres of rope lights strung from the brightly decorated tree to the roof & around the roof and fences. It has a handmade 2m candy cane, LED firework, LED firecracker, LED starbursts, LED curtain, bubble machines, various inflatables including a 3m Santa on the roof, animated 3D reindeers and many motifs/silhouettes. Also, Treats & games with prizes for the kids and young at heart.
A MUST SEE! 8pm-11pm during December. Weekends best for full display if weather favourable.
Santa visits on the Friday & Saturday before Christmas each year (16th & 17th 2016) from 9pmish-10pmish.
The Westmead Children's Hospital was our charity in 2012 and 2013.

Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian today launched six new apps which for the first time provide customers with real time information about train services.
The launch comes as the NSW Government prepares for the start on July 1 of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains, the two new rail operators tasked with bringing in a new era of customer service for commuters.
"This Government has been committed to providing customers with more information and the launch of these real time trains apps follows the successful roll out of the real time bus apps in December which have so far been downloaded more than one million times," Ms Berejiklian said.
"The train apps mean customers will know when to leave work or home to meet their train at the station and also provides the information customers need to make decisions about their journeys."
Each of the six apps offers different features for customers and there are free versions, and versions costing up to $2.99. The apps are available from the iTunes Store, Google Play and Windows App Store and include:
• Maps showing trains moving around the network and their destinations;
• Real time locations of trains;
• Predicted arrival times of trains;
• Real time bus information;
• Trip planning and timetable information;
• Service information including track work, cancellations and delays;
• Option to save your favourite routes and stops for convenient access;
• Option to sort trips by time, cost, convenience;
• Wheelchair accessibility information;
• The ability to set a voice-over notification to get off the train

Sydney trains are very well managed and very cheap too. Sydney trains also run on Xmas Day and between 25th December and 5th January. Auckland trains DONT run between 25 December to 5th January, and they don't go to the Airport. Auckland trains do maintenance during this period, despite it being the busiest period for the summer holidays. Sydney trains do run every day. Even on public holidays, there's a train every 15 minutes and were not talking just 2 or 3 carriages, on average there's 8-12 carriages per service, and double decker too, so plenty of room. Sydney Airport train line is very smooth to ride. To get to Bondi Beach you can take the Bondi Junction train line, and catch a bus from Bondi train station to the beach. Bondi Beach shops are good too and there's even a swimming pool at the beach.
